Stayed here for two nights and found it to be a most enjoyable experience. If you want very good service, food, company and rooms with a view then this is the place to stay. The owners Roger and his wife Pinky went out of their way to make everyone feel at home. The food and service was very good and all the staff had a smile on their faces. We will certainly be returning when we get the chance.

Room Tip: Rooms at front of the house have views of the lake

Hi, many thanks for the kind words. It is always nice to have the hotel service recognised as the staff are always willing to try their best to look after their guests.
It is a challenging time in the hotel and whilst we strive and persevere through our refurbishment program we will endeavour to meet and exceed guests expectations.
Thanks again.

first impressions great old country house ,lovely location , the staff were all very friendly and helpful , our top marks would go to Chris ( barman) he was great thanks chris , the food was plentiful and with a good choice , six of us went and not one of us had a complaint or a poor meal, the only downside (if you can call it that) is that there is nothing in the immediate vicinity not a problem for us because we went to go walking ,we wnt into scarbourgh on Saturday afternoon and a taxi cost us £11 ( both ways ) , bar prices on a par with drinking in any hotel or town centre , we were all in rooms in the annex again we could not fault them , be warned though there does not seem to be any mobile phone coverage but the hotel has wifi , all in all we would recommend this hotel and will go again

just returned from spending two nights at this hotel and wished we had stayed longer. had a room in the courtyard which was lovely and not too far away from the main hotel. the room was nice and comfortable, the staff lovely and friendly and there was plenty of choice on the menu. the house itself and surrounding grounds were beautiful and well kept. the new owner roger and his wife socialised with the guests and it was interesting to hear of their future plans for the hotel. me and my partner will definately book again to stay at the hackness grange and would recommend it to all our friends.

I took a party of 8 ladies to the Murder Mystery weekend on 2nd March 2013. We laughed from start to finish. The food was excellent and the service was excellent too. The whole evening was very well organised, the actors /actresses were also excellent and very convincing. The restaurant is beautiful and I understand there has been a lot of inprovements taking place in the Hotel. The new owners are very pleasant and came and spoke to us afterwards. The icing on the cake would be if my son and his financee hold their wedding Reception there next year. I wish the Hotel every sucess.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay in one of the courtyard rooms at this comfortable country house hotel in a beautiful setting. The new owner and his staff were most welcoming and helpful. The food quality was good and well presented. We would certainly consider a return visit in the future.

Room Tip: If you are booking a courtyard room ask for a refurbished room as the un-refurbished rooms are littl...

We have just got home after a really enjoyable two night stay at Hackness Grange. The bathroom in our first room (27) had a small shower which was not accessible to me as a wheelchair user however the staff found me another room (24) with a bath, not perfect but a resolution to the problem, the room was gorgeous and very warm. The staff were kind, caring and very efficient. The bar with its log fire was very cosy with old chesterfield sofas and comfy chairs. The dining room is beautiful and the food was excellent with different menus on each night. I had two boiled eggs with soldiers for my breakfast, and the chef got them just right, quite hard in a busy kitchen. The hotel is undergoing some improvements and will soon be even more lovely. Thank you very much to Roger, his wife and to all the staff for making our stay so memorable.

Now under new ownership, this is third time we have visited. As ever the service was superb and the room immaculately clean. Shame pool now closed but small sacrifice if the future of this lovely country house hotel is to be assured.

Slightly "shabby" feel to some of the non-main house rooms which are due to be refurbished.
Food has always been excellent value and extremely tasty. Grounds are lovely with lake and also the brook running along the boundary.
Easy access to great walks and so many coastal attractions - lovely to return to the tranquility of this little gem of a country house hotel
