This UPtown'r finally got around to visit CADDE. İt was on our list of places to check out for some time now. After all, that's where 'life' is (CADDEde Hayat Var!)

It was a rainy Sat night. The late hour and the rain might explain why the first two floors were rather quiet while the third (bar) floor was where the action (life?) was. We were a tad hungry so we settled on the second (ocakbaşı) floor.

The EzoGelin soup was impressive, steaming hot and very tasty. The phylo dough 'börek', though it was labeled as 'paçanga' on the menu, was thin n'crispy, freshly made and arrived piping hot. Stuffed Mushrooms baked in 'kiremit' (clay pot) was delish as well. Baked in oven (not reheated in the microwave as some places do) the melted butter was still bubbly when served. Last was the Adana Kebap which was served 'comme il faut', just the right amount of spiciness, placed on strips of 'lavaş' bread, accompanied with 'bulgur', grilled tomatoes and peppers, julienned onions sprinkled with 'sumak'. Warm pita bread soaked with the juice of the grilled meats came right along. We washed it down with, what else, Turkish Coffee with a thick foam that was served in the traditional way, china cup wrapped in a copper sleeve,, two pcs of turkish delight and a glass of water with a slice of lemon in it.

The background music was pleasant, not too loud, not too weak. The service was attentive and everyone was friendly. If I had to find a fault, it would be the inability to connect to WiFi despite numerous attempts.

After checking out our FB postings, İnstas and FourSquares over coffee (on our dime), we decided to finish the evening one floor above where the real action was. The floor was humming n'buzzing with young and beautiful crowd. We just had Turkish black tea, but the service was nevertheless attentive and each tea came with a tiny butter cookie (yum). Good news! WiFi was a breeze to connect to on this floor. All in all, this is one place we will surely keep coming back to, and bring our out of town guests as well.
