“a heavenly experience”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

Lake Manasarovar is one of the most beautiful and amazing lakes to see ! The varying hues of the lake in deep shades of blue ranging from turquoise blue was really out of the world. The sparkling drops against the sun's rays, the crystal clear water, the pebbles on the shores, and at night the clear skies studded with stars in the night are something that cannot be missed! In the evening, after a brief shower of rain, we saw the most beautiful rainbow across the lake - it was more like a flaming colorful ball instead of a semi circular rainbow - a stunning sight indeed !

“Unlike any other...”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

Treat it as a pilgrimage or an adventure, it will not fail to impress you.
The mental and physical challenges are all forgotten once you set sight on Mt. Kailash. The peace you experience on the banks of Lake Mansarovar, the faiths and energy that you witness on the climb up to Dolma la pass and the descent to Gauri kund. A journey unlike any other...

The travel is exhaustive and with the infrastructure given, one has to be prepared for all discomforts. The roads in Tibet are brilliant but a stretch of 40 kms from Nylam to Saga.Landslides are common. The stays are very basic, mostly dormitory style mud houses or tents.Hotels are good till Nylam. No toilet facilities, be prepared to spend days without a shower. Food is again basic with whatever your sherpas can manage. The local food in Tibet is yummy if you are willing to try some. Advisable to pack in high energy bars/ dry fruits.
Be careful in choosing the operator from Nepal, do your research it is extremely important, there are enough operators who can take you for a ride.
If you plan to trek, do get into a regular exercise routine since the trip is physically demanding. Diamox is definitely the magic pill. Even though it has been said and written that it is a very difficult terrain, the trek is quite doable!

Things to pack- loads of toilet paper and wipes for yourself and little gifts for the Tibetian kids who are so deprived...they love bindis!
My trip was worth every bit of risk and effort. Have memories for a lifetime...

“Lifetime experience”
Reviewed July 2, 2013

I rate this as the best trip in my life. Though it is a religious trip for Hindus, it is associated with mental and physical toughness to trek at 5700 metres high with less oxygen, which is a challenging one. Hence it requires lot of pre-trip preparations like walking, jogging, exercises, yoga, pranayama (breathing exercise) etc.
One of the biggest problem is the lack of facilities to answer nature's call. There is absolutely no hygiene and one has to be careful with drinking water.
First you would see crystal clear Manas Sarovar Lake, which is lake at highest altitude in the world. You will see holy mount Kailash from here. It takes 3 days to cover about 50 km of "Parikrama" around mount kailash.
