We stayed 8 nights at Playa Bluff and truly loved it!

If your goal is to enjoy a relaxing vacation and you’re looking for a secluded location on Isla Colon / Bocas del Toro with individuality - this is the perfect choice. The owners and staff are extremely friendly and supportive. We felt welcomed every single day. The beach is wild, picturesque and beautiful for long walks as you have it almost all the time for your own. Playa Bluff Lodge is located in front of a famous surf beach so during the day some surfers come from town but leave in the evening. Very tempting if you plan to learn how to surf. The swimming pool is perfect if you enjoy swimming (as it’s not possible in the sea).

We had a spacious, calm room in the back of the house facing the garden. The garden is home to sloths, frogs and tiny crocodiles and invites to take some nice pictures.

A special thanks to Karen & Steve, who made our Panama stay unforgettable and shared with us their passion for the country

My wife and I stayed there for three days of our six in Panama and wished we would haave stayed longer for sure. The above pictures, like all pictures, dont/cant capture the perfect location and beauty of this hotel. It is directly in front of a world famous surf beach. The days we were there we sat had breakfast and watched professional surfers get tube ride after tube ride. The owners/staff are beyond nice in fact we left feeling like we have made true friends with all of them. The rooms are large and super clean and though there is no A/C (see eco lodge) the nights were super pleasant with the ceiling fan and the sea breeze (I like sleeping in the cold so this is saying a lot). Also, the rooms are screened so no bugs.

The beach the hotel is on is a destination for people staying in town and at least three seperate people we meet asked with sincere jealousy in their eyes, "how did you find this place?!" as if it were not listed on the internet;)....inevitably they went on to say how sub par their hotel in town was and how "less than nice" their hotel owners were and how much they wished they had booked here. All I could say, with smug satisfaction of course, was yeah the hotel was perfect and the staff sublime...sorry...hehe....

Oh and just FYI the beach is completely yours after sundown...picture "From here to Eternity" with moonlit roaring surf....perfect.

Eric and Thao thank you,
Steve, Karen, Reinier and Helene

We really loved this place and the people there. The house is in great shape, beautiful tile floor, spotlessly clean. The beach is very long and fun to just walk along for miles. Usually the waves are huge though and swimming is at best an adventure, if not outright dangerous.
Back to the lodge - the owners used to live in the house until recently and it shows in the quality of everything. Spacious, good ventilation, warm showers, amazing beds (huge, orthopedic mattresses).
Windows and doors well sealed, screens on all windows, so no critters inside.
Gorgeous garden including cayman 'Bruno', sloths, frogs, birds.
Large swimming pool with clear, warm, fresh water
Charming and always helpful owners, helped now by newly hired manager Michelle who went out of her way to arrange everything and was always having a smile for us.
Excellent restaurant (which you will need as you cannot cook for yourself here and its way out of town). Get a Margarita!
We highly recommend this lodge.

Room Tip: Get the upstairs apartment if you can

Playa Bluff Loung is a 45 minutes bike ride. The rent for a bike is 5 dollar per day, inclusive lock. The first part is on a mainroad and the second part on a dirt road. On our way we saw a sloth. When you arrive at Playa Bluff Lounge the kind bar Manager Michel welcome you. Playa Bluff Lounge is situated at the best beach that there is on Isla Colon and als surroundings islands. The beach is long with palmtrees. On the beach you will find chairs and hammocks. And enough place to lay down your towel to sunbath or lay down in the shade of the palmtrees. What we liked was the great and clean swimmingpool. So relaxed. The restaurant offers lunch and diner. We would recommend the Bluff Burger, brownie and sangria. There is also a good jungletour. You can book the tour online http://www.playablufflodge.com/ or at the restaurant. The tour takes 2 hours and we saw monkeys, sloths, snake, frogs, eagle and a waterfall. Also the onwners Helene and Renier are so kind and make you feel welcome.
