My husband and I just got back from Tobago. We spent 5 nights at Cuffie River Nature Retreat and loved it. We stayed in the executive suite since it was our anniversary and it was wonderful! A bit pricey, but worth it. The lodge is surrounded by nature; quiet and peaceful (except when the parrots and chacalacs fly in, but those are NATURE sounds).
There are 3 (at least) well maintained hiking trails on the property and birds abound. Desmond is the resident guide and he took us on 1 hike on the property and 1 off. He did a great job spotting and identifying birds for us. His personality and enthusiasm made the hikes very enjoyable.
All the meals were excellent - local dishes, fresh and tastey. Some of the dishes might be a bit spicey for some tastes, but even my husband, who doesn't normally care for much spice enjoyed them.
This is a place worth a repeat visit.
