“Good typical local food at very good prices”
Reviewed January 24, 2013

This restaurant has always been good value, but it has improved recently. Dishes are all typical for the region, and the servings so large you can’t believe it. If you are hungry, check it out. We ordered two rib eye steaks, when they brought the first one on a serving dish, I thought it must be for both people, then the other one arrived! I tried a linguado (rather like place), a great favourite of mine, but normally a bit on the expensive side. This was 12.50 Euros, and it was a good sized fish, fresh and a delight to eat. I asked one of our party, who is a chef, how they can do this fish at this price, and he says that they are farmed. I couldn’t tell the difference (I didn’t know you can farm sea fish). I would give them 6 stars for value for money. The restaurant is a firm favourite with the local Portuguese (that’s a very good sign), its simple and straightforward, a long way from luxury, but so are the prices. Allow 20 Euros a person and eat very well. In the winter there a wood fire blazing in the corner, and in the summer plenty of space outside. Nothing pretentious, just good food, friendly service and great value for money. What more could you want? From Lagoa take the turn down to Carvoeiro (by the GALP petrol station), and just after the supermarket the restaurant is on the right, no more than a couple of hundred metres from the Lagoa roundabout.

“Smelly”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

Although the food, menu and price were all excellent, there was a strong smell of urine when we went through the door.

“typical Portuguese restaurant with a nice veranda”
Reviewed July 30, 2012

This restaurant was recommended to us by our landlord who has been living in the area for more than 20 years. It is situated in Lagoa, not really the nicest city in the Algarve. But then we came for the restaurant.

The choice of food changes daily as the fresh fish arrive. We liked our food, served by friendly waiters who looked as if they liked their job. Our kids were a bit less enthusiastic about their spaghetti, but spaghetti are definitely not the best thing Portuguese cuisine has to offer.

Portuguese people and tourists frequent this restaurant, as the price is very low (6-7 euros for a "prato do dia") and the quality, veranda and service is very good.

“What a Find”
Reviewed May 11, 2012

Located on the Lagoa to Carvoeiro road near to Pingo Doce this typical Portugese retaurant was recommended to me by a lady who has lived in this area for 30 years. The food is freshly cooked and served onto Hot plates by waiters Joseph and CJ in both a freindly and efficient manner.Typical food includes fresh whole sole, salmon, and enormous T bone steaks, all for less than 11 euros each.A bottle of wine is 4.5 and a large beer 1.5euros.
This is truly an absolute gem so anyone staying in nearby Carvoeiro, grab a taxi and experience what the real Portugal is all about.
