I could have also started as the other reviewer "you'll get what you pay": rates start 32€/night in double room with 2 breakfasts, parking, internet, Pool, Sauna. What can you expect for that money??

The hotel is new, modern, spotless clean and the rooms are actually very nice - all with balconies and views to Portimao (or the N125 bridge), AC, good linen but only shower in bathroom. However the hotel might be 4* level acc. to local standards but I'd more rate this to 2,5* as e.g. there was no hairdryer by default on the room (by request from lobby)

the low rates attract complete families to stay here, if these folks are all at same time in indoor pool area it can be noisy and tight! Sauna is small but ok (2 stories) however it misses privacy. Indoor/outdoor Pool, Fitnessroom, Sauna, Steambath Jacuzzi are free of charge for hotel guests...

Wifi is available only in lobby, in the rooms you need to use LAM via cable (this is outdated 2013 - remember the hotel was built 2011 only but seems that the designers/architects didn't think about the role of internet 2013?)

Breakfast with coffee from vending machine and very thin juice (what a shame as Portugal has best freshly squeezed orange juice!!), food from breakfast buffet isnot a Asian Hilton buffet but quite good....

As all Aguahotels the "design" rooms have gaps in towel holder, missing carpets (cold feeling), no paintings on the wall, empty minibar, stoned floors etc. The equipments are mainly cheap and poorly maintained, lobby is more a showroom than a lobby (by purpose). In our first room the cable LAN didn't work and the "front desk" couldn't fix this issue (I suppose it was never working before)

Good for some nights if you want to stay in the area (eg. Casa De Pasto O Calvario) - sometiems the river stinks sulfate

Room Tip: as for Portimao view on upper floors

Stayed here for a relaxing week in September 2012. Absolutely beautiful hotel and spotlessly clean- cannot fault the facilities whatsoever, however the all inclusive package was disappointing to say the least! The pool was so busy you had to be there for about 10am each morning to get sun loungers however the all inclusive package didn't start til 12pm. This would be perfectly fine but the staff wouldn't even give you a glass of water outwith the designated hours and being pregnant and very dehydrated in the burning sunshine I found this pretty bad practice! The brochure also said snacks were available in between meals but this did not happen which again is very unusual for an all inclusive resort. My other main concern was the food in general. My friend who I travelled with is vegetarian and the evening meal did not include any vegetarian options. For the whole week she ate very basic salad without so much as a dressing or resorted to eating a plate of chips. We asked the staff is they could prepare some sort of hot pasta dish but they refused. All in all it wasn't a bad holiday but more helpful staff and protocols would go a long way.

Lovely hotel, good size rooms, suites are great.
Reception stall great and helpfully, bar staff they need a lot of training, they served me two glass of wine in a dirty table, not acceptable for a 4 star hotel.

Hotel surrounding are good, outside pool and spa, great.
Altogether a great experience.

This is my second stay at the Riverside and i was very happy with my stay, we had a riverside suite which was huge and i would defiantly reccomend. We stayed on bed and breakfast basis and every morning there was a good selection of hot food and fresh fruit, breads, pastries etc.

The hotel was very quiet due to it being out of season but the staff were very helpful all round and we got our use from the indoor pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna.. all of which were excellent.
Ive read all the negative reviews on here and although i cant comment on the food other than breakfast, i have only praise for this hotel, its spotlessly clean, ultra modern, very spacious, incredable value for money with breath taking views over the river.
The hotel is slightly out of the way so a hire car is advisable.

Overall i love the Riverside and will defiantly be back be january. Please dont be put off by the negativity of some people. if your looking for peace, quiet and excellent value for money then this is the one for you.

Thank you for another fantastic stay riverside :)

Our first all inclusive in a 4 star hotel at the end of October,we did not realise this ment self service rather surpised. The food was good but not freshly prepared until our last two nights when the hotel was very quiet.
Slight river smell now and then but hotel clean and bright.
The "swimming pools" were just plunges to play in not for serious swimmers to do lengths.
Great cliff walks and beaches, a little rain but on the whole lovely holiday late in the season.
Our flight was 11.25am but our pick up was 6.15 a little early no breakfast. We flew with Monarch our return flight was delayed- no problem but the flight attendants ran out of hot food half way down the plane, this was a lunch time flight- bad management.

Room Tip: 212B with balcony overlooked the car park was quiet at the end of season.

We recently came back from the Agua hotel riverside, the hotel was spotlessly clean, staff were very helpful. We asked for a room upgrade at check in and was offered a junior suit f.o.c. Nice! Breakfast was good we are always up early so it was always fresh. We did not eat any other meals at the hotel as we were only b&b. One slight downside to the hotel is the location, it is a good 15 minute walk away from the nearest town with some life. If you go to this hotel and want a week away just to relax it's great, if you want to explore a little you need a car. Reception were very helpful trying to get us a hire car but 180 euros for a week I thought was a bit steep, so I book one off the net for 70 euros and it was delivered to the hotel within 2 hours.

This Hotel is very modern and spacious and we booked the package through Travelzoo all inclusive, the flights were with Ryanair from Leeds/Bradford and were on time both ways, the Staff were very pleasant and helpful, in my opinion the only thing lacking was a proper bar/seating area, there were tables and chairs outside but when we went in October it tended to get a little chilly when the sun went down. On first arriving the Hotel seems well away from everything but quite quickly we found out that the local bus ran from the end of the street and the train station was about 10 mins walk away, we got the train into Lagos which is were it terminates and you walk a 100 yards and are right into the Marina were very easily you can walk along the promenade into the town, We had a brilliant holiday and feel it is quite likely we will use this Hotel again

Room Tip: Ask for a Junior Suite
