The hotel is nice, however food is awfull & usually cold!, most staff are poorly managed & need direction!(understatement!) we booked ala carte & received cold school dinners!, I am quite well travelled & hate to complain but this hotel forces you to do just that! We spoke to many of the other guests whilst there & all where of the same opinion!. We will not return & advise anyone thinking of going ,DON'T! You too will be very disappointed, this is a totally honest opinion with no fabrication, it is that bad!!!the all inclusive rules are changed on a daily basis to suit staff & management at the guests cost, for instance" all inclusive" is all local wines & spirits from 12 noon until midnight, well on our third day the management decided that we should pay for rose wine!!!(local) 2 days later we had a meeting with the hotels p.r. Manager & she agreed rose is made in Portugal & it was reinstated to all inclusive!. This is just 1 example of many, too many to put on my review!. Bottom line is lovely hotel, poorly staffed & managed without guests best interests considered!!!

We stayed there for a week with two children. The apartments are really nice. The breakfast is good. There are several beaches nearby and you can not tell which is the nicest. But you definitely need a car. The only downside is the smell from the river when the sea is low.

We holiday in Portugal every year and this time stayed at this hotel. It was the first time but it wont be our last. The General Manager Nino Cagorino takes great great pride in his hotel and quite rightly so. A modern spacious hotel with spotlessly clean rooms. A lovely pool overlooks the picturesque river. There is a water taxi available, payable locally, to take you to the surrounding beaches. The hotel is in an isolated position so a car is highly recommended. The Restaurant Manager Abel Querido and his team deliver "service with a smile" and nothing is too much trouble. The hotel may be Boutique and modern what really impressed us was the exceptional service we received from all the staff throughout the hotel. We shall return.

Just got back from 8 days all inclusive, firstly the hotel is definately worth rating a 4 star. We stayed in a junior suite, room was cleaned every day with fresh towels and bed linen, had plasma screens in sitting room and bedroom with english chanels. The pool was lovely, always enough sun chairs and the views to Portimao were fabulous, the food was lovely and plenty of variety. But the bar service was very slow, this was the major downfall of the hotel and they should really reconsider their level of service. Taxi to, Portimao was €5(20 mins walk), Paia de Rocha €8. Would consider returnin to hotel if service improved

We returned from our lovely 10 night all inclusive break at the Agua riverside on the 13th September. The weather was great between 30-35'c. The hotel is in a remote area and we hired a car from autoeurope online and brang a sat nav after reading reviews therefore this was not an issue for us. Even if you do not wish to hire a car there is a river shuttle boat based at the hotel to take you to the beach for a small charge or excursions to the caves etc. If not taxi service didnt seem to be a problem and was reasonable in price. Its a great base for peace and quiet however was a good central location if you wanted to get around. There was a small supermarket and tourist shops within walking distance (200m) and slide and splash waterpark, various beaches, portimao marina and shopping centres less than 10 minutes drive away.

The hotel itself is very modern in terms of design; spacious and clean. The rooms are big (we stayed in standard) equipped with a safe and fridge. They also had a large bathroom; 2 sinks and a double wetroom styled shower. I think all rooms had a balcony which had 2 chairs. Hairdryers are avaliable at reception if required aswell as slippers and bathrobe for a small charge. Room was kept clean and bedding and towels changed regularly. Only critism for the room is that the lighting is quite poor of an evening and the only mirror is in the bathroom.

The never ending pool was lovely; good size not very warm but refreshing in the heat. Great view of the river; which was beautiful of an evening watching the sunset. Plently of sun loungers around the pool area and the hotel operates a non reserve policy. Nice grass area aswell with pool table and small play area for children. A lovely indoor spa area including a heated pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Note: Swimming hat required.

The food at the hotel was overall very good. Breakfast had a good selection of cereals, yogurts, fruits, hot breakfast, pastries, bread, spreads, cold meats and cheese. To drink was squash and hot drinks. Lunch was off a snack menu which had lots of options varying from burgers to pastas, pizza and salad and was very tasty. This changed to buffet by the end of the holiday. When we first arrived the hotel it was opeating an a'la carte menu at dinner which was delicous however after the first day it changed to buffet as the hotel was too busy. This was dissapointing. Neverless the food was tasty and was themed differently every evening. Only critism is that the hotel needs a larger toaster for breakfast.

A wide selection of hot and cold drinks are avaliable 10am to 12 midnight at the hotel. Bottles of water were avaliable to take to your room. AI Ice cream time operates between 4-5pm and you can choose branded wrapped ice creams/lollies.

Service was generally good and many of the waiters were very friendly, helpful and efficent. Service was sometimes not very fast but the hotel was busy and we didnt mind waiting - they would bring drinks out to you. I even left some jewellery by mistake in our room when we left and the hotel are shipping it back to me.

We had a lovely stay and was our best holiday yet; we will be looking to return next year. Dont listen to the bad reviews at the end of the day your holiday is what you make from it - some people can never be pleased!

Thanks Riverside :)
