“If your ideal get-away includes a room with a view, a botanical garden all to yourself and dining with a touch of class”

Our room with a mahogany four poster bed and a private balcony in the treetops overlooking the Caribbean was the perfect respite. The Estate has history, character, flora, fauna, and a wonderful staff. I made the reservations from Central America and Dennis was the epitome of efficiency, transforming my requests into a "made to order", "no problem" stay.
The highlight of our stay was a private cooking class given by Dosette. If you have ever visited Jamaica you know how important the crust is to the national staple of meat patties. Well,  Dosette showed us step by step how to make vegetarian patties that were exceptional with a crust so flavourful and flakey that I will be the envy of all  my friends if I can replicate it back at home. She also showed us how to make a gorgeous brown stew fish that we enjoyed for supper. (We loved the patties so much we ate them again for breakfast with ginger  pickapepper sauce)
Richard and Shoshonna were there to meet our every need; they also added depth and colour with their wealth of information about the local customs and food.
We had the extensive grounds all to ourself and the gardener of 20+ years gave us a private tour. Allo, the driver contracted for us by Dennis, picked us up right on time in Kingston and drove us to the property with a stop for lunch at Discovery Bay.
From start to finish our stay was a throwback to a time when people were pampered in lush surroundings ... And we loved it!

Room Tip: We loved the pineapple room. The tarragons, green parrots, and humming birds were free entertainment...

My wife Barbara and I spent 5 incredible days at The High Hope Estate Bed and Breakfast in the hills above St. Ann's Bay. We were going to stay only two days, but had to extend our stay after seeing the place. Talk about luxury, beauty and ease of living and you're are talking about High Hope Estate. The large grounds are literally a botanical garden with the world's largest variety of hybrid Hibiscus. Separate areas on the grounds overlooking St. Ann's Bay provide privacy for meditating, reading your favorite book, quiet talks with your loved one or just staring at the incredibly blue waters of the Carribean from high above the soft sand beaches. A 22 mile vista of the northern coast of Jamaica is incredible. A ten minute ride to Ocho Rios brings you to all of the favorite attractions in the area.
The owner Dennis and his charming wife Ludo will make sure your stay is exactly what you expect from this gem of a place in the hills. Walk the nature paths through the grounds and discover the wide variety of flora. Take a quiet nap in the hammock under the Bombax tree. Curl up on a comfortable sofa on the veranda to write in your travel journal. The High Hope provides breakfast, lunch and dinner daily (no dinner on Sunday). The foods are organic, local and delicious. The presentation is par excellance. The staff will make every attempt to provide you with whatever you need and they did not fail to exceed our expectations. Ritchie makes one of the best Martinis my wife and I ever had. Your rooms are serviced and the evening turn down service is always a surprise with creative animals and designs made from towels and strewn with local flower petals. Even an antique radio may be turned on to a quiet music station for your enjoyment. I have a connection with the Ringling Estate in Sarasota, FL. High Hope is like living in John Ringling's Venetian Renaissance home. If you have the opportunity to spend time in Jamaica, make time for the High Hope Estate. If you want it done right, have it done at High Hope.

Room Tip: I felt all of the rooms, even those without a direct view of the Carribean are excellent. If you wan...

What a beautiful property !
The panorama is breathtaking and the garden is just magical... a great place to relax
The owners are very friendly, the staff is kind and helpful and the meals are very tasty.
We stayed at the Pineapple room with a nice "colonial" atmosphere and a terrace with a fantastic view.
The only thing we disliked is the flabby matress, as it usually means it's too old and, the bathroom is a little outdated. With these fixed, everything would be perfect.

My wife & I just spend 3 days at High Hope Estates. A beautiful beautiful property, comfortable room with a spectacular view. Ownership & staff who met every desire. If I can offer one criticism, once you arrive at High Hope it is hard to find motivation to leave. If you have places to see or things to do, I recommend you fulfill your list prior to reaching High Hope. Lovely walks are available, Dennis will identify the botanical splendors. Humming birds, parrots, amazing flowers & luscious plant life, grand & historical vistas. This is a special & lovely part of the world. We received a warm & lovely Valentine from the staff. Nothing was really missing whether it be natural beauty, refined service, a personal touch & a grand and lovely home.

High Hope Estate is a throwback to the days when celebrities like Charlie Chaplin and Kurt Vonnegut stayed in this huge Venetian Villa in Jamaica. HH is an extremely luxurious place to stay at a very reasonable rate. The service is the best I have ever had and the setting, with a 180 degree view of the coastline, is magical. For rest and relaxation there is nowhere better.

We stumbled upon the High Hope Estates entirely by accident. My wife and I were unexpectedly bound for Jamaica to visit her father who was staying at the Couples Tower Isle in Ochos Rios, unable to find a room there, we thought we were booking an affordable room that would allow us to visit for his 71st birthday. We followed the road up through the town and to the top of the hill down a long dirt road and started to second guess ourselves, What we found was probably one of the best hidden gems in Jamaica. It is like staying at a wealthy friends villa over looking St. Ann's Bay. The grounds are manicured and immaculate. The gardens and pool are top notch and the view is world class. The owner Dennis and his wife were more than hospitable. The staff was 5 star. The Jamaican breakfast on Sundays was a great Jamaican experience, akee and saltfish. We ate our meals elegantly around the grounds and we were not want for anything. It was full service and classy at a bargain price. We felt like movie stars.
