My partner and I first came to stay at Karma Kandara in March 2008, for the grand opening which was amazing. The resort is built in Mediterranean-style and is perched on the cliff-top, overlooking the majestic blue ocean below. Each villa is absolutely stunning, and no two are exactly alike. We enjoyed our stay in 2008 so much that we have since come back to Karma Kandara twice already – once in October 2009; and also in January of this year. Each of our stays have been absolutely fantastic and we would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a holiday with that extra touch of luxury that you cannot find in most places.
Dinner at Di Mare Restaurant – overlooking the Indian Ocean (oh - and with such a dramatically beautiful view!) has never disappointed. Serving a world-class delicious Mediterranean-inspired cuisine with a huge selection of fantastic wines to match, the members of staff are all fantastic and attentive, and we have recommended this wonderful place to all of our friends. I cannot also stress enough how wonderful their spa is. Getting a massage while seeing the vista of the ocean below you is an experience not to be missed.
We spent most of our days lazing down by the private beach which can be reached via a sort of vertical cable-car that takes you down the steep hill to the beach which is at the foot of the cliff. You can, of course, make your own way down via steps – although this was way too much of an effort for us (there are 360 steps so quite a trek – especially coming back up!). Nammos - the beach restaurant – is also of world-class, serving everything from tasty beach-snacks to delicious lunches and also dinners, all the while a DJ spins cool chill-out music – creating a wonderful ambience. We found that we just wanted to stay there and let the usual worries of life slip through our fingers - like the perfect white sand on the beach. We quite often came for lunch, and stayed to watch the amazing sunsets that never fail to amaze.
The concept here at Karma Kandara (and for that matter - any of the Karma Resorts) is that – if you are travelling as a family, or for a group of friends - instead of renting umpteen rooms in an anonymous hotel, you can rent a gorgeous 3 or 4-bedroomed villa with a fully equipped kitchen and a private swimming-pool, all enclosed in your own private compound, for quite a reasonable sum. And with full hotel service facilities - you can still order room-service and have all your usual hotel-luxuries (your villa is cleaned every day, as is the pool) - everything was done for us, all we had to do was sit back and chill! My partner and I have absolutely loved each of our stays here, and would recommend this slice of Heaven to anyone who wishes to enjoy true peace and tranquility, but with the added luxuries that most places aren’t able to offer at the same time. The villas, the food, the staff – they are all absolutely world-class fantastic, and we will come back many more times in the future.

Absolutely stellar service on all fronts including the bars, restaurants, spa, room service and housekeeping. Grounds are immaculately kept and the ocean views are breathtaking. Each unit having it's own zero-edge pool with great view is magnificent.

Karma Kandara is a fantastic place for sunset drinks and tapas. Don't miss Nammos Beach Club for their great pizzas and my favorite cocktail Vanilla Passion - tasty and potent.

Even if you’re not staying at Karma a visit to Nammos is highly recommended. The combination of spectacular locale, music that matches the setting, amazing food and our ‘tasty and potent’ cocktails, plus the sun setting over the Indian Ocean definitely makes Nammos the place to be at sunset! Thanks for the comments.

I had the great privalege to be staying at what must be Heaven on earth this weekend . Heaven in case you don't know is located on the edge of a cliff at Ungasan on the Nusa Dua Peninsuala in Bali.
The villa was so private and yet offered a beautful landscape o fa tiny private gorge home to the scared monkeys of the templs at ungasan. From the moment you put down your bags in your villa some thing sacred wells in your stomach.
The staff are gentle as the balinese are but eager to be of service.
We got changed and immediately went down to the beach by micor cable car to Nammos. This mus be the most beautful beach in Bali. White crystal sands. pristine ocean. On saturday eveing we had the surprising joy of attending one of the many events at Karma Kandara. This was a special eveing of Bordeaux and Bach in Bali. The wines of 5 chateauxs were featured along with an extrordinary offering of the D minor Bach Partita for Solo Violin played by International artist based in Perth Peter Tanfield. One rarely hears the partita played live but to have heard in in the extraordinarly location of the magestic Di Mare Restauarant with the heavenly food of Cehf simon Blaby one truly might have imagined that you had died and gone to heaven. The difficluty of playing the violin in such humid conditions did not rattle Peter and he delivered a very moving experience for us all. The Partitat was only a morsel in an eveing program of education by mouth and feel with the marellous vingeron Peter Althaus who is the owner and winemaker at Domaine A one of the merging grand crus of wines in the new world. By the wasy did I mention he is from Tasmania.
simon Blaby may be know to you all as he was at La Lucciola( delicious food ) and he is now the new exective and Karma Kandara and he has made a huge differnece to all of the morsels being offered at Karma.
At the end of the eveing we retired to 'Veritas' the new wine library at Karma kandara which houses what I believe is the first Enomatic Machine on the island. We could taste Lynch Bages 2004 and A wonderful white from Argentina. What an incredible way to end the eveing.

All of this would not be possible without the vision of the entrepreneur John Spcence who works overtime to make sure that his guests at his 15 resorts round the world just have a wonderful time.
Go to the website . We actually were able to get a special package all inclusive. It was worth every cent.
Hope you make it to Karma Kandara. I travel for my work all over the world and I have to say the inn total this was a wonderful experience.

It’s certainly nice to hear from someone who appears to be so knowledgeable about food and wine! You were indeed quite fortunate to have been able to attend one of our successful culinary events such as ‘Bali, Bach and Bordeaux’ featuring vintner/sommelier Peter Althaus, our executive chef Simon Blaby and of course the accompanying Bach renditions courtesy of Peter Tanfield. And yes, we do have the first Enomatic wine serving system on the island! Please be sure to check our website for future special events (as well as for the special packages you mentioned) and cheers for your positive feedback.

Yours Sincerely,
Karma Resorts Management

The property has a strong Mediterranean vibe to it - the white sun-hot stone, the sleek chic of the spacious villas' interiors (think Costa Smeralda), the amazing tapas, the mellow disco balearica at the beach... Ah yes, the beach. Kandara's beach is something that will stay with you forever. It's very private (you don't find many private beaches on the island where the ocean is considered to be public property), it's only reachable by funicular, it's got an amazing beach bar, more of a club, really (check out the Martinis) - and then there's the ocean itself. It's not your warm, cozy, all-forgiving milk-bath you'll find in Jimbaran Bay, it's AUTHENTIC. You feel it's alive the moment you step into water, and you'll have to make friends first, but you'll be rewarded as soon as you learn the rythm of the waves and the pattern of the currents. Why even bother going to the SPA with the sand scrubs you'll be getting on the beach daily? But please, do schedule an appointment at the SPA, you won't regret it. The view from the pavillions is breathtaking and so are the treatments - go for the oxygen-infused facials, they do wonders. The food is too good to be true - I never went out for a meal, not even once. All in all, the General Manager Jorge Monje is doing a hell of a job there working his nice everything off while all the guests are having the time of their life.

Karma has done a great job in the layout of this place. Well equipped self-catering villas within a resort means you still get all the benefits of a hotel but can do your own washing and cooking if needs be - very handy if you have young kids who are fussy eaters! Pool and the cable car down to the beach fabulous, and when the tide is out, a lagoon is created making it one of the best beaches for kids as you don't need to worry about them being swept away by Bali's infamous rip. Views are great, and spa rooms are divine in that they are perched RIGHT on the cliff, so very breezy and peaceful. Only qualm is that hotel is kinda in the middle of nowhere, so if you want to shop, then head closer to Seminyak. If you want to sit and read your book, then great little spot. Just don;t get upset by silly hotel rates for drinks and food.

Thank you for your comments and glad you were able to enjoy all our family-friendly facilities and Nammos beach club area. While we are located some distance from the shopping areas of Seminyak it’s no problem for us to arrange transport as needed or better yet, simply enjoy the peaceful respite that always comes as part of the Karma Kandara package!
