At Home Chiang Dao is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the surrounding beauty. The grounds are gorgeous, the national park is nearby, the food is amazing (including real vegetarian food), and the owners are friendly and helpful. Our bungalow was beautiful and spotless, with a real bed and a real shower.
When we hiked to the summit, the owner realized we would need lunch and packed a perfect picnic for us. The owners also arranged transportation and gave us tips about other activities in the area.
I was sad to leave this slice of paradise and would be happy to return.
A perfect place to relax, retreat, recover. About 10-15 minutes outside of Chiang Dao (yellow bus - 150 baht for 2 into town) Our cabin, nestled in the garden, was simple & lovely, with a little porch that we sat on daily. (It did not have kitchen facilities but they do have one cabin that does.) The grounds are an organic oasis of flowers & fruit trees, populated by many butterflies & birds. Graeme & Jutharat are gracious & generous hosts who gave us lots of helpful information & advice. They have a good restaurant here & there are 4-5 other eating establishments along the road. There are the well-known attractions near by (like the caves) but there are also many nice walks/hikes in every direction & interesting monasteries to explore. This is a great place to settle down for some study, writing or contemplation. Probably not great for those seeking night-life.
