We only stopped here one night - after three nights close by, I wish we'd stopped here the whole 4!
The hut has two bungalows, ours cost 580 TB, about £11, which I thought was excellent value.
The bungalow had a veranda with seating, the main room inside two good-sized beds and a small bathroom with western flushing toilet and oh joy, a hot shower!

The young couple who took care of us made an excellent breakfast, iced coffees and beers on the evening and a good meal.

The Chiang Dao caves are located out the back, so when sitting on our veranda in the evening, enjoying a cold drink, we saw the bats coming and going, and of course several birds, including a friendly spider-eater!

Chiang Dao Hut is also next door to 'Nest' which serves excellent quality Thai food, and just a few minutes walk up the road to 'Nest 2' which serves Western food.

We stayed here recently for just 1 night and liked this new small place. Located just up from Nest 2, it's just a couple of bungalows at present, one twin the other a double. Simple but clean, each has a bathroom and hot shower. The Thai couple who own it Tor and Benz are young and friendly, speak enough English, and don't pressure you to take any trips or go trekking through them which is refreshing.
The garden needs a bit more developing to get more shade if you sit outside on the tables, but I guess the plants just need time to grow a bit. Their small quiet cafe at the front is a cozy place to chill out with a cappuccino and french fries or whatever, you can chat with the owners, play with their cute young puppy Rambo and sit there all afternoon if you wish. Food is reasonable quality and some of the cheapest along the road.
The service can be a bit slow at times as there's only the two of them, but they seem aware of it and are keen to listen and improve things if you make little recommendations to them. Could also do with some bicycles maybe to get around easier, although they will transfer you to/from the bus station in town in their own car. All in all, a nice little place.
