The Lodge & Cottages Wedderburn

best place we stayed on the rail trail. wonderful set up. like little rail cottages. deck faces east, so brekkie is in the sun looking out over the big sky that is central otago. we didn't eat at the wedderburn pub, as we were booked to go curling at Naseby and then dinner at the Ancient Britton pub. that was great. curling is a must. the owners of the cottages are wonderful and "dad" is fountain of info about the area. highly, highly recommended.

This was brillant for our family of four biking the rail trail. Loved the complimentary use of laundry. The clean, comfortable cottages with great views. The wedderburn tavern (at the end of the driveway) roasts are the best ever.

We stayed here on Day 3 doing the Otago Rail Trail.
Great accommodation, nicely appointed and everything you need for breakfast is waiting in the fridge for an early start the next day.
Make sure you book into the Tavern for dinner as it is very popular and great value.

These cottages were a very welcome sight after a gruelling day cycling into a head wind in cold conditions. The cottages were small and modern but perfectly formed with heater, comfy beds, kitchenette and heated towel rails in the bathroom!!
The wonderful Wedderburn Pub is at the bottom of the driveway and serves huge southern meals!! The roast is a must! And then its just a stroll back to the cottages after a few ales!!
The owners are onto a winning formula here and are booked out for the nest 2 Easters until 2012!. Highly recommend staying here whilst doing the Bike Trail.

We stayed at Wedderburn Cottages on our 2nd night of bicycling the Rail Trail.
It is a fantastic stand-alone B&B with views over the Central Otago Hills.
Almost new modern stand-alone cottages with balconies and comfortable beds. The best thing about the location is a short walk down the drive to the Wedderburn Hotel which has the best food and great wines we had on our trip of the South Island.

This property was booked for us by the cycling tour company that booked our Rail Trail adventure. Check in was easy, with no delays getting to our room.

We were booked into one of the new cottages, which contained an open plan bedroom/dining/kitchen area, a bathroom and sunny deck. The unit was very new, clean and comfortable.

A nice touch on arrival was the presence of a masseuse, offering optional rubdowns after a hard day on the bike. It was heavenly, and very necessary.

After a massage and hot shower we enjoyed a relaxing, sunny sit-down on the deck with a cold beer. Our hosts called on us in the course of the evening for a chat, which was very pleasant. The lodge/cottages are conveniently located close to the hotel at Wedderburn where we ate a very nice dinner.

Breakfast provisions were adequate and tasty, and set us up for the day ahead.

We would very happily stay at the cottages again the next time we do the Rail Trail.
