“Superb B&B in the Loire”
Reviewed May 3, 2013

We returned to La Pillebourdiere in March 2013 for 3 nights. The B&B is ideally located for exploring the Loire region. Sue is a very gracious host and runs a beautiful B&B with spacious, clean and tastefully decorated rooms. We stayed in The Piment Vert and slept very well in the large comfortable bed.

Sue was able to get reservations for us at a wonderful new restaurant for an exquisite dining experience. She was also able to provide discounts to Chaumont-sur-Loire and the Chateau du Clos Luce, two must sees. At Sue’s suggestion, we did something unusual this time by going to the Zoo Park in Saint-Aignan about 20 miles South of La Pillebourdiere. We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful park and the large variety of animals, including all of the newborns. It made for an unforgettable day.

If you are runner, you will not find a better location to run than through the vineyards and pastures in and around Oisly.

We are looking forward to our next trip and spending time at La Pillebourdiere with Sue.

An old farm converted into a luxurious B&B, managed by a fantastic lady who speaks both French and English. The location of the property is very good and is a short drive to many of the major attractions. The property has a lake nearby where outdoor drink, lunch or dinner can be enjoyed among beautiful scenery. I would recommend this place for anybody who'd like to have a memorable and comfortable stay.

Although we have reviewed La Pillebourdiere several times in the past, after yet another wonderful visit we feel we must re-iterate our views on this b and b. Firstly, the bedroom conversions in this old house are stunning, and the rooms themselves are huge with wonderful bathrooms and superb beds - every amenity and comfort is there. Secondly the welcome we receive from Sue is so warm and she makes sure our every need is catered for, be it where to buy the wine she has offered us as an aperitif or chateaux to visit. Breakfast is always a delight. We stay at La Pillebourdiere when we are travelling through the Loire and now we would never stay anywhere else.

This is a superb B&B and Sue is a lovely host. The bedroom was very comfortable and roomy - decorated tastefully with a lovely sitting area. The bathroom was beautiful with an amazing walk-in shower. Our breakfast was served in the equally comfortable dining room and was also really good - we particularly liked the range of local breads and the home made jams and yoghurt. So much more than the usual continental breakfast. We visited in November but could well imagine how lovely it would be to sit outside in the courtyard in warmer weather. Sue was very friendly and helpful. We would recomend this B&B to anyone. It is the best place we have stayed in France. Thanks

This lovely B&B was as beautiful as the pictures indicate on the website. The onsite owner, Sue, has clearly thought out every meticulous detail. Her taste was impeccable. She offers expert guidance about the region's great many attractions, and even secured a causal late-night dinner spot for us at the very last minute. We were in the main farmhouse, where the rooms were airy and spacious. One of our sons roomed with us and the other two had an adjacent room; all were satisfied with the arrangement. Breakfast was delightful, and the strawberry jam was the best we've tasted. You could happily spend a week in this region and under Sue's roof.

Room Tip: Just ask Sue for her recommendation. She responds to emails swiftly.

This b&b is absolutely gorgeous, located in peaceful area of the loire valley its the perfect place for a quiet getaway. We stayed for three nights, the room was immaculate - very spacious. A delicious breakfast of croissants, breads, cereals and fresh fruits was served each morning at a time that suited us. Sue was a brilliant host, we hadn't planned what to do and she suggested locations and arranged tickets for each of the places we wanted to visit. Would highly recommend La Pillebourdiere to anyone heading to the Loire Valley.
