“Fantastic hospitality at an exceptional B&B!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2011

We spent four fantastic days with Edouard and Sue and they made us feel part of their family and took wonderful care of us. Nothing was too much trouble and I can honestly say that I have never experienced hospitality like theirs. Edouard and Sue both had brilliant recommendations for us to visit on our motorbike and we loved Amboise, Blois and Montrichard. We stayed at the maisonette, set apart from the main B&B building and we loved the cosy feel but having seen the bedrooms in the main house we will be trying to stay there next time as they looked amazing. A great B&B run by two charming and warm people that made the experience truly unforgettable.

The location is perfect to see the Châteaux, particularly Cheverny and Chambord. Give yourself at least three days here to see the most interesting ones (we only stayed two).

The buildings are lovely, the rooms are excellent and a bit of a shock after staying in Paris, as they are huge and very well appointed; the beds are very comfortable. Breakfast is lovely, particularly the marmalades and honey.

The service is very friendly and extremely efficient from the very beginning; Edouard and Sue went way above and beyond what we expected and even got us some more of the honey we enjoyed with them. Their advice for the châteaux and the route to take for our next leg of the trip was spot on.

I am not easily impressed but Sue and Edouard's La Pillebourdière is quite amazing and an example for the rest of us; we are very grateful as they made our trip such a pleasure.

This hotel has the perfect location and the surroundings are beautiful! The farm truly is lovely..and the rooms are all very spacious, very clean and newly decorated. Our hosts spoke perfect French as well as English and were very friendly. We were cordially welcomed. The breakfast was delicious and especially the brown bread and the home-made yoghurt were exquisite. There are a lot of castles in the vicinity which are easily reachable by car, motorcycle or bike. There is plenty to do here and you won't be bored for a single minute.

The rooms and the grounds were lovely, but the hosts were the best. Could not be more welcoming or helpful. We borrowed bikes and went for an all day ride and it was the BEST day in our full two weeks in France! Great breakfast and enjoyed the other guests as well.

I'm not sure what else I can add to what the other reviewers have said, but this place is truly excellent. Sue and Edouard are the perfect hosts. You can see they really enjoy helping others explore the wonderful section of the Loire Valley. The location of the B&B is ideal. So close to all the chateaux. S&E recommendations were all good. I'd also like to speak highly of the restaurant down the road, Le St Vincent. We ate here on S&E recommendation and it did not disappoint. I highly recommend this B&B to anyone coming to the Loire Valley.

I only wanted to echo the glowing reviews written by other members of the tripadvisor community, which both this place and its lovely hosts deserve beyond the shred of any doubt! If you book one of the beautiful rooms here, you’ll be thanking your lucky stars! Edouard and Sue, thank you again from the bottom of my heart for all your brilliant sightseeing tips, a truly wonderful stay and for the privilege of meeting you. You have got to be two of the kindest, most generous people we have come across. The only thing I would say concerns the local restaurant, St Vincent, which, is perhaps not ideal if you have small children as we found it was the sort of quiet and civilised establishment where one worries about the kids having to be at their best behaviour. But the food was great!
