Owner description: After 12 years designing and developing one of the World's most highly awarded Ecotourism companies, John "Caveman" Gray goes his own way by forming "John Gray's SeaCanoe" with 18 of his most loyal and experienced guides. "After 12 years in Phuket, the experiment ran its course and I was packing for Polynesia," says Gray, "but when all these guides showed up, I had no choice but to stay and do another start-up."

This is certainly the best way to see and explore the "hong's" at sunset after the others are gone.
The food and the tour guides are excellent, Seaman was tops he even took us into another part of the hong leaving the rest and the noise behind to give us a once in a live time experience.

“Eco friendly, and in touch with nature. Bliss”

We were recommended to do the John Gray Sea Canoe Hong Starlight Tour upon our arrival in Phuket. It was the BEST bit of advice we received, as this tour was the highlight of our holiday. We are so glad we avoided Phi Phi and James Bond Islands (due to the massive amount of tourists that visit these places every day and the commercialism) and the negative stories we had heard about the hordes of people and packed boats.
If you are going to do a sea canoe or island tour DO THE JOHN GRAY one.... it is well worth every cent! We were transferred up from our hotel in Karon promptly at 11.45am and the whole day proceeded with ease, until we arrived back at 9.30pm in a safe and modern mini bus. A value packed most enjoyable trip we will treasure for many years to come.
The pace of the entire tour was relaxed, friendly and well planned, and we just felt part of the wonderful experience all day and into the night. We were made to feel so welcome the moment we stepped on the boat. Our boat had only 28 guests and over 14 staff members. We were allocated a guide Alex, who was a lovely guy, he paddled us into the caves in and around the hongs (lagoons) for the entire trip. He was very safe, courteous, friendly at all times. He also was very knowledgeable and provided us with a lot of information about the area, flora and fauna in excellent English. He was happy to answer our questions, take photos of us, provide commentary or just let us wonder at the scenery in silence. The scenery was breathtaking, beautiful and awesome. We enjoyed this tour to be away from the hustle and bustle and commercialism to enjoy the natural beauty that is Phuket and her Islands. We have many wonderful photos and memories of this tour.
The lunch was lovely, the afternoon tea refreshing and the evening meal on the boat awesome. The prawn soup was a highlight and the entire meal fantastic. The complimentary water soft drinks all day meant we were well hydrated and did not need to find our purses.
In the late afternoon we had some free time to swim off the back off the boat or paddle around in a canoe which was nice and relaxing in this lovely part of the world. We just soaked up the scenery. There were some children on the trip that had a ball and were well entertained by the wonderful staff that made sure they had lots of fun. We loved making our special Kratong’s for the sea offering. I will leave for you to discover this experience when you join the tour which was a magical touch into the evening and a highlight.
A highly recommended experience for ages 5 -100+

“A breathtaking experience filled with passion and knowledge.”

If you only do one trip from a stay in Phuket, John Gray's Sea Canoe is the one. From the transfer, to the boat and back again it is by far an excellent day. The day is filled with laughs, great food and outstanding knowledge from the guides. The sea caves are amazing, the quiet lagoons superb and there are not the crowds that the other operators have. John Gray has set up his staff to give the tourist an excellent experience without expectation of extra tips. The canoe trip just on dusk into the lagoon caves is one my wife and I will remember forever. Do this trip and you will not be dissapointed.

The trip was amazing. Two days after our John Gray's tour, we did a boat trip to Phi Phi Island and it was like comparing chalk with cheese or champagne with spumante! John Gray's was first class in every way - the quality of food, the quality of the boats, the quality/knowledge of the guides, the sites we visited, the environmental appreciation that is embodied throughout the trip.......I could go on and on.
We are a family of five and we actually secured two adult places free of charge as a reward for attending a Marriott Vacation Club time-share presentation in Patong. In spite of this, if we'd paid full price to attend, it would have represented some of the best-spent tourist dollars of our entire month in Phuket!
The day was magical and we'll never forget it. The guides instill a respect for nature and for the precious and fragile environment of the national park. The food and drinks were great quality and both were plentiful.
A great day, highly recommended. Everything provided. Just bring your camera!
