Our impressions were the same as everybody else described it - clean large spacious rooms. The rooms would've been full of light if you could open the curtains, our windows overlooked their car park and we kept the curtains drawn for privacy. The enormous shower with excellent water pressure was very enjoyable. The breakfast was rather ordinary.
The location was central, service was impeccable. Our room was exceptionally quiet, but the bed was rather tough. All in all it was perfectly adequate for a couple of nights before diving trip.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet one, I did and got it

We stay here 1 night on 17th March 2013. The room is big and spacious. WIfi is free. The mini bar items are free, It is very near the old book shop which i think every drivers knows.Breakfast is provided on the rooftop which is clean and unobstructed. Within walking distance (15 minutes i think) to the bus terminal where you can get a bus to Karon and Kata beach for 35 bahts per person; also another bus goes to Patong Beach and also another to Kamala beach. Wish the reception was more conversant in english though. There is restaurant next to it where u can get some food. Food in Phuket town is slighty cheaper than at Patong Beach.Phuket town is very quiet. After evening it is all dark. One night is enough before heading to Patong beach is which crowded: so is Kata and Karon . Weather at this time is very hot.

We were looking for a cheap place to stay for one night before catching the ferry to Phi Phi the next morning. Rooms were large, clean, had A/C, hot water and complimentary water in minibar, plus a small kitchen station. Staff were helpful and arranged taxi to pick us up at 8am to take us to the pier, also included a one way ticket on the ferry. We walked into town and ate dinner at Sino Indigo restaurant which was a nice funky thai restaurant. Wouldn't be somewhere I would stay for more than a night as Phuket Town doesn't offer much for holiday makers, plenty of other places to go. But perfect for a one night stop before heading to the islands.

Probably OK if you avoid the front rooms, but we were kept up/woken by motor bikes (sounded like Harley's with trick silencers) and an assortment of drunks shouting at each other, not forgetting the RB211 powered airconditioning. Phuket Town has the reputation of being the cultural highlight of Phuket. Probably in the same way as the sea of tranquility was named as the best diving spot on the moon by Armstrong.

I wasn't expecting this to be a great hotel as we were in Thailand in late December and hadn't booked ahead so availability was limited. Our room was large and had wall to ceiling windows so lots of light (if not a great view). There was also a fridge and microwave (which we didn't use) and a table and chairs. The bed was large and comfortable and the shower was fantastic. It was also cleaned very well every day.

The reception area and other communal areas had some beautiful Chinese furniture and pottery and there were some lovely paintings on the walls.

The reception staff's English was a little limited but they were very helpful. We'd booked to go to Flying Hanuman for example but I'd given them the wrong hotel name by mistake. The staff at the hotel rang up for us to find out where the mini bus that was supposed to pick us up was and on realising the mistake re-booked for the afternoon session for us.

Phuket Town is surprisingly interesting and the hotel is well located for a walking tour or the town and for some good, authentic restaurants and the night indy market. Good tea and coffee is also available at Tiny Coffee nearby (if you can stand the rather fierce air conditioning).

We booked the Shanghai suite for one night as we were going on the boat to Koh Lanta the next day. We got a room upgrade to a Sino suite which was a pleasant surprise.

The hotel is in a good location and there is a great little restaurant down stairs under the trees. The rooms were very tidy and when the say free mini bar they mean free water and soft drink, but that's a bonus.

If you were wanting to stay somewhere in Phuket for a more relaxing time then maybe out to the coast would be better, like Kata or Patong but Phuket town is a great stop over. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The service was efficient and friendly as well.
The only negative is that in the room we were in the AC was the size of a piano but didn't work that well. Apart from that the breakfast was good and a nice way to start a trip
