Everywhere you look at this temple you can see the history behind it. When the monks prayers are answered they let off firecrackers. Be ready for it though as they can surprise you.

We really enjoyed visiting this temple and got there by tuk-tuk (we bundled together with Big Buddha as they are near one another). The grounds are beautiful, buildings great and you can get some stunning pictures here. I was worried that it was going to be a 'commercial' temple (which at some parts were touristy) but you definately saw people saying their prayers and using the facilities. It is definately a cultural experience.

In some aspects Phuket can be so commercial so there are no real cultural learnings on your trip. I genuinely think this is a must see when visiting Phuket, especially if you are not travelling North where there are more temples.

We are not really into temples and religious sites like this however the building and artwork at this temple is stunning. You can go inside for free just taking off shoes and ladies covering bare shoulders (scarfs are provided). Also has a number of stalls beside it selling things - aren't as pushy as other parts of Phuket

Visited Wat Chalong as part of JC Tours' Phuket Full Day Tour. Its a beautiful temple in a huge compound. The architecture is fine and detailed. Saw many local Thais performing their prayers here too so this was not just a showpiece for the tourist.

I am not a big fan of temples, but this one worth it to spend some times. The temple is big and very beautiful, and you can take a lot of nice pictures there.
