“Not sure!”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

We used the Andaman wave master to get to and from phi phi island.

I emailed in advance and booked the tickets. They were easy to communicate with.

OUT: From Phuket we are on the afternoon ferry which is just one class. It was so busy and the boat was completely full with people standing for the journey. There also didn't seem to be any air conditioning and it was BAKING hot! I had a big suitcase with me which I had to carry onto the boat via another boat. This wasn't easy. There were food and drink options and according to my husband, the toilets were disgusting.

BACK: we had booked premium class. When we went to enter the premium cabin, the door was locked and we waited about 25 minutes to get in. Then an employee brought up a big group of men and ordered everyone out of the way shouting: you sit downstairs. I don't take this kind of treatment well and after some words and thrusting the ticket in his face, we accessed premium. It was much better. Sofas to sit on a bar with free drinks and TVs. They did announce that it would be rocky on the way back, and it was - very! The staff had anti sickness tablets and bags that they were giving out. There is also a premium sundeck and it is apparently nice - I was so ill that I couldn't get up! The air conditioning also didn't work for most of the journey which made the conditions worse.

We had booked a taxi through Andaman to the airport. As we were in a rush, we got our bags out and waited on the boat to dock. We were some of the first off and our driver was waiting. Straight into the car and straight to the airport............

“If you want to be treated like cattle...”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

This is the ferry for you. They pack you in and if there are not enough seats (when people take up seats with their bags etc), the staff make you fight for those seats amongst yourselves.

Best to seek out the cheapest price you can find because even then, it wouldn't be worth the price you paid.

And I do not recommend the the Koh Phi Phi day trip they offer either. You only end up swiftly sailing past the famous spots (and if you are in Standard seating good luck even enjoying the view... we couldn't even get on the sundeck it was full of people). The ferry can't get too close to the "secluded" beach spot they stop for the the buffet meal they offer, so we are then herded in to longtail boats, in incredibly choppy sea conditions with tourists who have no idea how to balance unstable longtail boats and their suitcases, prams. Some of the boats were overloaded with people there were not enough seats. Our boat almost capsized with two infants onboard. The long tailboat don't go all the way to shore either so you are expected to literally jump out of it in to the knee high water. No ladder, nothing. The meal at the "secluded" beach was substandard. Even their noodle soup stock had been diluted to taste like nothing. They offer snorkels and masks but there were no corals to look at. There was only a 30 minute period where the tide was high enough for a swim. By the time we were to be herded back in to the boat, the tide had receded considerably and many of us had already changed out of our swimming clothes in to regular clothes to endure the two hour ride back to Phuket. We had to walk out 50-60 meters to board the longtail boat again, this time, they had the ladder (finally). I really felt for the man who had changed in to his long pants in front of us. By the time we boarded the boat, they had picked up a few hundred more passengers.

If you didn't feel like cattle by this point, you will feel it when you deal with their taxi service at the end of the trip. They will pack you in to fill every seat regardless of how much luggage each person has.

“Don't take overnight bus to BKK if you have a flight to catch!!!!”
Reviewed July 12, 2013 via mobile

Bus left late, then stopped at a rabid dog bus station in the middle of no where to change buses with more delays and stinking toilets. In the middle of the night the bus stopped for hours for no apparent reason. Many people had flights to catch and missed them because of the delays, then the bus finally stopped near Khao San Road, when we had been told it would take us to the bus station. Never again, will fly or take train in future!!!

“Sit outside, much better!”
Reviewed June 28, 2013 via mobile

The trip from Phuket to Phi Phi on the wave master was great. Once we went outside and sat on the deck to admire the view and get some fresh air, the 2 hour journey just flew by.

The boat itself is a bit old and has two levels of passengers. The seats are a bit cramped but once you leave the pier in Phuket, go outside as it is much nicer and a lot more comfortable.

Food and drink service is also available on board.
