Very nice trip up the hill at sunset. Go an hour or more before sunset if you want to see far lying islands, get a great view of the Giant Buddha statue, and a birds eyeview of Phuket from out on top. There is nothing to do at this viewpoint except take in the scenery and a few pictures. It serves as a local picnic spot for the nearby townies and village folk, so mostly motorbike and scooter crowd. There are a few food stalls, and a couple of average hole in the wall restaurants which we didn't try.
But this spot is mainly just a viewpoint. If you get lucky, you will see lots of wild monkeys near the parking lot as they emerge from the surrounding forest in search of food. We say a hilarious fight between a dog and a team of dozen monkeys. The dog barked, the monkeys clenched their teeth and growled, and the dog barked again and went front foot, and the monkeys growled and went backfoot, the monkeys surrounded the dog and it backed off, they backed off, then growl, bark, etc for about 5 minutes. Got a great video!
Enjoy this spot before it gets grossly commercialized.
45 minutes from Patong and 10 minutes from Main Phuket city center.
Just up the hill from the night market. Cannot walk up the hill, too steep. Must go by vehicle
