“Phi Phi Island by Speedboat - HORRIBLE”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2014

Extremely disappointing. Over crowded boat. Could not get into beaches too many boats to dock. Fighting low tidess. BOAT RAN OUT OF FUEL ON RETURN TO PHUKET!!!! Would not recommend this to anyone. Spent 8 1/2 hours on the tour and only 2 hours of that was at a beach (25 min), lunch (40 min - which was horrible) and snorkeling (30 min). Spent another 30 minutes on a beach waiting for fuel to be delivered so we could make it back to Phuket.

“Loved it all. Can't believe the bad reviews”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2014

We booked with Phuket Adventures through our Virgin rep from our resort and we were not disappointed. As we paid 3,300 baht per person per trip we got the service we expected.
We booked the James Bond Island tour and Phi Phi Islands.

We had no more than 30 people on our speedboat. We sat at the front of the boat - both times. The second trip was very bumpy, but no fault of the captains. Felt safe at all times. We were constantly offered soft drinks by our guide and he brought round fresh fruit quite often too.

I agree with one of the comments below where it was sad to see the reefs dying, but we are to blame for this. There was lots of fishes in and around the reefs still though.

I had previously wrote loads to do with this trip but the review did not save. I can't remember the names of everywhere we went on all of these trips, but I loved every single stop, and loved every minute of the trips as did my husband. Highly recommend to others!!

“Beautiful location, very bad service”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2014

We took this tour to Phi Phi Islands by recommendation of the hotel we were staying at, and to be honest, we expected a lot more for the price we paid (considering it was a "VIP" service). The boat was in good condition, but it was extremely crowded, and unfortunately, once it was our turn to get onto it, there were no seats available in the inner, covered part. Hence, we were forced to sit at the front of the speedboat during the whole day (no possibility of going inside to take a break from the strong Phuket sun because it was packed!). Soaking up the sun wasn't really the worst part of it, at least we had great views of the islands; the problem was that, being at the front of the boat, it was as if the guide and crew had completely forgotten about us, no drinks of fresh fruit were offered to us when they were offered to the people inside the boat (they only gave us some pineapple once, and offered us the remaining sugary sodas because all the water was gone!). So yes, there were too many people for very little food and drink. The guide was no good, when we passed or stopped at a spot marked on the itinerary, he didn't give any explanation whatsoever, for instance, we stopped for sightseeing at VIking Cave and he didn't even mention that was the place the nests used to make bird's nest soup were found! Plus, he tried to be funny but he was just plain annoying. Lunch was very poor quality compared to normal, thai street food, and everything was rather cold. I think most of the boats travelling to Phi Phi stop at the same place for lunch, but still, disappointing when you are paying much more than other people and at the end of the day, you even eat the same lousy food.

We were supposed to stop at Bamboo Island, but instead stopped at an overcrowded beach (don't recall the name). We passed by Maya Bay at the beginning of the tour to see if we stopped, but the guide said it was "too crowded", and that we would go after lunch (which was crazy full!). We were supposed to snorkel at Maya Bay but we weren't given enough time to do so (because the snorkeling site was very far away from where the boat had anchored, and while you got there and back it would take half the time on the beach).

All in all, very poor service. Phi Phi islands are gorgeous but would be best enjoyed with a better company!

“Wouldn't use them again”

Crowed boat and beaches. Beautiful island filled with lots of rude people. The trip all in all to similan was expensive and difficult. They were recommended by our hotel. My guess is that they got a commission for booking us on the boat. We will not be taking any more recommendations for the front desk. Total waste of a day in paradise.

“Waste of time and money!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2013

This trip was recommended to us by one of the tour guides in the hotel we were at, and they said that the whole day Similan Island tour was secluded and relaxed, and it was anything but. We traveled 1.5 hours to the pier to board their speed boat. The boat ride was cramped, loud and not pleasant at all. We got to the first reef to snorkel, where we had about half an hour. This was sad if anything, the reef is dying, there are few fish and it just made me sad. We then went to the first beach to swim. There were 20 or so other speed boats there pulling in and out, made swimming less then relaxing. The beach was crowded and we felt rushed to be there. Then we went to another island for lunch, the food was good, but again no time and no privacy or relaxation. The second reef was a bit better, but still really crowded and sad. Then we took the boat back to the pier. For the money and the time traveling, we could've staid at the hotel and had a relaxing beech day. The whole thing with, its a gorgeous beach, this is true, except there is no seclusion and the pictures have been photoshopped to take out the 20 other boats there and the 500 other people on the beach. Do not waste your time and your money on this trip, there are way better things to do in Thailand!
