Staying at Crowne Plaza & wanted to go into Phuket Town. Taxi driver wanted to take us to a "good local restaurant" for lunch on the way. Took us to Phong Phang, which was deserted - alarm bells. Checked the menu and was around 300BHT per dish - compared to about 100BHT per dish at Patong last night.
On a sidenote, Restaurant 5 served delicious food at reasonable prices, plus staff were helpful and spoke English.
Can't comment about food or service as we didn't even get the chance to be duped!
Happy holidays!

We tried to get into another restaurant but it was booked and couldn't take more, so we asked for recommendations from the hostess but our taxi driver jumped in and said he'd take us somewhere good. This was the worst food we've had in Thailand and clearly the taxi driver was getting compensated (free food, money, etc). We called for a different taxi to take us home, but the same taxi came back to pick us up and there was a rush between the head waiter and our taxi driver to do some deal before he drove us home.

There are two different menus here, one with stickers on it with extremely inflated prices for tourists...in fact more for many dishes than we pay at the nicest Thai restaurants in the US. The other menu is for locals with normal prices. Even at normal prices the food quality was mediocre at best. The green curry was mediocre, but the best thing we had. They served ketchup for the soft shell crab!

Definitely DO NOT get scammed into being brought here. We didn't have Internet on our phones so we couldn't check out the restaurant before eating there.

Seafood is kept fresh and alive in small tanks...you can pick your lobster or tiger prawns...unfortunatly these fresh produce are not cooked very nicely...everything is fried and overcooked! The setting is very basic...cherry on the cake...rats running across the restaurant! Not a place i would recommend

We were at the phuket branch with the family. The lobster was good, and the staff recomended crab cakes for the children. The children loved to hold the live lobsters. The staff was very friendly and service minded.

We ate here on New Years eve when we couldn't stand the noise of the big restaurants. Located in Phuket town, very open lay out restaurant and excellent sea food. Not too many locals, and had a nice mix of expats (not tourists). Came recommended by a friend so we tried it. Very impressed by quality of food and how inexpensive it was. Worth a visit. 10 minute walk from DIbuk road.
