Review of Naka Market

Naka Market

Owner description: Phuket weekend market (locally known as Naka Market), located along Chao Fa West Road just outside Phuket Town not far from Central Festival, is a fascinating jumble of secondhand goods, curios, pirated items, live animals and a large amount of great local food to sample. It really is worth a visit even if you're not planning on buying anything. If you were to ask, "What's for sale here?" The answer would probably be, "How much time do you have?" as the list of goods is endless.

“nice visit..”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 3, 2012

Went to the Naka weekend night market. It was a long stretch of walk with varities of wearing apparels, souvenirs and food. Gotta be good with your bargaining skills; politely reduce by 40-50% from their offering price till you're happy for a fair deal. Overall, the prices were'nt that cheap or more or less similar in comparison with Malaysia's stuff; may inadvertently spend more if not aware of the market price. Had our dinner there; the food there was quite tasty. 1 meal cost about 700 bath per head.

“The only market to buy from”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2012

These markets don't just offer a great atmosphere, it also offers the best quality, price & friendly people around. Do not bother going anywhere else. Or at least hold out till you've been to these markets.

“Bargains galore”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2012

Bring along your bartering skills, they'll come in handy! Phuket town night market is a great evening out, no matter the weather. It was pouring with rain one of the nights we went but it only added to the experience. There's a great selection, but definitely shop around first and get the best prices. The price will go down if you buy more than one so shop in groups if possible. The only negative thing about it is the overpowering scent of nondescript food - just the smell of it made me feel I'll at one point. But the positive outweighs the negative for sure. A must-see for all Phuket travelers and tourists!

“Great Food (and cheap too)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 28, 2012

Not big on buying trinkets, but the food was great. We sampled maybe 5-6 different booths before buying some take home for our first nights meal in Thailand. We bought chicken, pork, shrimp, and squid. Had enough for several meals. Total cost less than 300 baht.
