We arrived at the hotel very early in the morning (aroung 1:30 am) due to the filight delay. The reception team was very friendly to proved us with towls and drinks upon our arrival, which they are checking us in....a very good start for our stay.

The room is clean and nice and of course the room has a great sea view. The air-con is automatically switched off if you open the balcony door more than 30 seconds. (a enviroment friendly approach). The heavenly bed is great and there is Ipod stereo availabe at the room.

We had the breakfast at its restaurant at the lobby level and the exprience is great - wonderful food choice, comfortable setup, nice view and helpful staff.

There are three swiming pool areas in the hotel and the one closed to breakfast restaurant is always busy. It will be great if the hotel can provide us with a hotel map as the hotel is huge and all the rooms are scattered over the bay. It took us two days to find out the swiming pool at the top level where is not that crowded.

Shuttle bus is available to the town and you better book it in advance as the seats will easily be taken as the ones at the dinner time are very popular.

Overall speaking the hotel is a great place for our holiday retreat and we will definitely love to come back for our holiday!

At first glance this is such an amazing resort, however the longer we stayed the cracks started to emerge. We stayed for 7 days and there was a group of nine spread through a villa, a suite and two king rooms and we all experienced similar issues.

1. Very poor building quality, although all common areas were fantastic, tiling in rooms is shocking, very concerning in future years to come,

2. Rooms seem to only be cleaned when you call and sometimes not even then.

3. I wouldn't suggest a good place for young children due to issues with pools, one pool is no more than 1.5m from the door to kids club, the other has many missing and chipped tiles which are a hazard to adults never mind the children.

4. Prego the Italian restaurant was less than desirable, and when it came to booking EEST our booking was taken then cancelled, we were told it was closed for the night  (due to low occupancy) despite being told it is open 7 days a week

5. VGA cables were not available/ did not exist/ were all checked out to guest depending on which staff member you spoke to despite having VGA inputs in every room.

6. The shower pressure in our room was shocking, you could either have a full pressure freezing shower or drizzle warm shower, (so little pressure the heavenly shower head did not work)

7. We also had a cockroache issue in our room, not too sure why?

8. As we were at the top of the mountain by the time our room service arrived it was less than desirable, pizza and chips, soggy and cold and ceasar salad warm and wiltered.

9. Minibars never replenished

10.air conditioners turned off at seasons for dinner, after sweltering we asked for them to be turned on, we were told they we not working but when we pressed the on button they seemed to be functioning fine?

11. Several things in our room did not work, the iron, the nightlight the light in the bathroom, our voicemail, the light in the hallway would not turn off and our room door would not close properly,

12. There are hairdryers in every room, but now power points near mirrors to plug them

All in all not up to the Westin standard we have come to expect from the many SPG hotels we have stayed in worldwide.

Dear Bumble8r,
Appreciate your comprehensive review of the resort and I am aware you rasied some of these issues during your stay with us. Concerning defects, we are a new resort and have a program to work through any defects in the rooms. Concerning any service issues, we have shared these with our team here at the resort. Concerning water pressure, we have had this adjusted accordingly. We have purchsed some VGA cables for guest use. The A/C for Seasonal Taste did have a fault and this has now been fixed. There is actually a powerpoint underneath the bathroom basin in guest rooms, but is not clearly seen. We are advisising our associates to point this out to guests in the future. The items you mentioned not working have been fixed by our Engineering Team. There is a pest control program in place and they will focusing on guest room interiors after your commnets, as being in a tropiclal loaction this always a constant focus for us.
Thank you again for taking the time to give us such a detailed response and we have responded accordingly to the ares you have mentioned.

deliberated between this resort hotel and some of the most expensive spa resorts. decided to rely on The Westin brand and was not disappointed.
the service, choice of restaurants, pool facilities and beach were all top class. the views from the villas fabulous.
the villa itself was well sized with an excellence terrace and small plunge pool, the bed was typical Westin heavenly
The only suggestion would be to have the bar area above the Italian restaurant Prego, opened every night. it is a good spot for a drink.

Dear lasinv01,

Warmest greetings from the land of smiles!

Thank you for your enlightening review of your recent experience with us. We are all truly delighted to learn that you enjoyed the experience, in particular the villa, food, and staff.

Your review is truly encouraging and supports our aim to deliver exceptional service and create lasting and treasured memories for all guests. I also take on your suggestions for the bar area above Prego, we do have regular drinks in the evenings now but do split the times with Splash during the week.

The team of Westin Siray Bay Resort & Spa, Phuket is looking forward welcoming you back to explore our resort again in the near future.

Probably the first point to make it that we are having a great time. The problems that I mention will not ruin your holiday but may be worth considering as this hotel is not up to he usual Westin standards. Good points include, lovely common areas, yummy breakfast, lovely kids club staff, great manager, interesting pool, nice drinks and music every night. Bad points include probably the worst build quality in hotel rooms/villas I have ever come across our group had 4 different rooms and the quality was consistently terrible. The problem is huge and not easily rectified without complete renovation. Other issues are inexperienced staff in many areas, chipped pool tiles underwater (very dangerous), terrible food at Prego, dirty beach, crappy gym, limited water sports and location, we drove nearly every day to the other side. I would say not worth the money at this stage, it's a real shame too as the place is gorgeous as you drive in its just let down on the finer points. As I previously mentioned we all had fun and enjoyed our stay all the same!

We loved the hotel decor and the beautiful use of space, the room we had in building 22 was lovely in cool refreshing colors and a lovely shower with a window.

The property is very hilly and not good for those of us with any orthopaedic issues. Having recovered recently from a surgery to repair a ruptured leg tendon, this was not an ideal property to select, but when I booked there was no review suggesting that the resort is not disability friendly. There is a buggy (golf cart) service that you can call to request to pick you up or drop you off, waiting can be tiresome.
Smoking is a big issue. This resort is overwhelmingly smoker friendly. The folks at the table next to us at breakfast were smoking and it was repulsive. Upon checkin, we were shown to a smoking room in a smoking building, despite our reservation clearly being non-smoking. We were graciously moved after I complained about the smoke. The room that we moved into was nice, but we could not figure out where the bugs were coming from. The window in the shower had a gap in its installation and I had to call to have the maintenance service come to caulk it. We were in the room for a day and a half before, at my request the maid finally cleaned. When I spoke to the manager, she informed me that they only send the maid in once per day. This despite being a beach location where people shower probably twice per day and the hotel places 2 small bath towels in the bathroom per day. Amazing. And no turn down service.
The lines at breakfast are enormous and there are lots of children whose parents turn them loose to finger the buffet items, so you will want to order a la carte unless you want germy fingers on your food.

Despite the consistent screw ups, there was never any correction from management.

One major liability... in the buildings 21-24, there is a virtually invisible step just outside the elevator. As you exit in the afternoon, the step down is not visible and has not marking that there is a drop off. I fell during my stay and sustained a significant knee injury that has required ice, ibuprofen and a compression wrap. This area should at the very least be marked with caution tape to make guests aware of the hazard. It is easy to fall, tear a meniscus or break a hip on this design flaw.

I am here for two more days and wishing that the bay had lovely clear water, but unfortunately, it is dirty and beleaguered by trash coming ashore.

Beautiful hotel and lovely common spaces. Restaurants become tiring after a couple of days and one needs to leave the property for variety.

Don't stay for more than 3 days.....

Dear J&H74,
Thank you for your comments on your recent stay. We have shared them with our team at the resort and will review our services where necessary. Concerning Towels, there should be a mixture of large bathtowels, handtowels and face towels in all rooms. I have made note of your comments on the step in the guest room blocks and was concerned to hear of this. We will put sight strips on the step to ensure we don't this happen to anyone else.
Thank you for your other positive comments as well.

After travelling around Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam we were in need of some quality R&R, we had been checked into a hotel in Patong by our agent and left there after one night as the resort was not at all what we needed, too loud, in your face and loutish. we googled some other hotels in phuket and managed to negotiate an excellent deal for a couple of nights, the place is outstanding, its very large and yet never seemed busy, the service is 5 star and the small touches made us feel very special. the location is sublime and the sunset over the bay a bonus at the end of a relaxing day it has a feel of Thai architecture but the service is 5 star american! its not cheap but if you can afford the cost then you will feel spoiled

We stayed at the Westin on Phuket as I had enough Starwood Preferred Guest points to stay for the five days. The resort itself is beautiful and the rooms are large, modern and tastefully decorated. The bed was large, but I would say the mattress was not up to the same standard as the rest of the resort.

The resort is tucked away in a quiet corner of Phuket, which makes it particularly peaceful, but means there aren't many options for eating out. This is unfortunate as, the restaurants on site have spectacularly inflated prices over the rest of Thailand and don't live up to the price tag. We ended up spending almost as much on food and drink as the room would have cost us.

The best features of the resort for me were the swimming pools. One set up high on the hill with views over the bay and a cozy little bar area. The other just above the beach with a handy swim-up bar (perhaps a reason why we ran up the larger than expected room bill!).

One other point to note is that while the resort has a private beach, it is a little walk down the hill to get to.

Dear Simon,

Warmest Greeting from Phuket!

Thank you for your positive review of our staff and facilities.

Regarding your comment that the food pricing at our restaurant is expensive, please rest assured that we will review this point and ensure that our pricing is competitive amongst 5 stars hotels on the island. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Concerning your feedback on the Westin Heavenly beds, these are imported Westin brand standard beds and we were concerned that you did not have a comfortable sleep during your stay with us. We can offer a bed board if you require a firmer base to sleep on.
The team of Westin Siray Bay Resort & Spa, Phuket is looking forward to welcoming you back again in the not too distant future.

Yours Sincerely,
Sean
