Did this trip today with 3 other Kiwi's.
Great fun. Well organised. Good bikes, great way to see the back-blocks of rural Thailand.
I did a mainland cycle tour 2 yrs ago and it was good too. The added benefit of this one was the good coastal glimpses from time to time. Our guide Tan was ideal for the role - helpful, cheerful, fit, interesting. Very good day.

Well organised and structured tour! The staff and support crew were first class nothing was a problem! Plenty of water and great food. The waterfall at the end was worth the effort!

We arranged a special 3 day "Krabi Explorer" tour after a meeting in Krabi, because we couldn't wait till the next scheduled tour. It was an excellent experience, the owner James was very professional and the guide and driver, Tan and Lek, were excellent in every respect. We will not hesitate to book with them again if we have some extra time in South East Asia.

We are a 70yr old couple who bike a lot at home. We were very comfortable on highways, back roads, and dirt roads in the Krabi area. The bikes were very good, the lodging was excellent, and the food was awesome.

We went on the Krabi expedition 21 - 23 June; this is the third 3 day adventure with this company. We loved it so much that as we were being driven home on Sunday 23rd, we arranged to do the only trip we hadn't done with the company, the Muang Turtle one, on the 26th. James, the owner contacted us the day before pickup for Krabi to advise us that he was making a safety call re sea conditions, and instead of going to Krabi via the first night on Koh Yao Noi then longboat to Krabi, he felt we needed to not take an unnecessary sea journey on the 21st. Fair call, as later on that day Tan and Lek took us sea kayaking and the wind really blew hard; safety is a major concern for the company, and to be in the more open area in a longboat would have compromised safety. First day, drove to Krabi to begin (as dictated by the sea conditions). We always rave about the village sights we see and how much we enjoy mixing it with the local people, and this time, we stayed at what we felt was the best accommodation we have found on these 3 dayers - Green View Resort in Ao Nang. We have found that everywhere we have stayed on each of these ventures has been a delight, unique and very Thai. This one in particular was simply lovely - calm, green, contemporary Thai design and private. All meals, as per usual, we wonderful - Tan and Lek, the two guides, order different food at each meal, so you get to enjoy a wonderful variety. As well, if they see any snack or fruit that they think might be fun for you to try they stop and buy that for you as well (all included in the price for the tour). After all the tours Bob and I have done, my passion for sticky rice treats is well known to Tan and Lek, and thanks to them I have tried almost every variety of stick rice snacks and deserts known to Thai people I think. During this tour we biked to the Emerald Lake (which wasnt all that impressive itself, but the bike ride to it was great), and to a hot stream, absolutely chock full of people and because of that a bit intimidating initially - but hey, one of the neat things about cycling in Thailand is that the chance of meeting someone who saw you there biking, looking sweaty and making a fool of yourself, is pretty remote, so we overcame our inhibitions and got in, as did Tan, sat amongst the very many locals, and it was fantastic! One of the best lunches we have had with the tours we have done was on this trip, at Sra Morakot Resort, by the Emerald Lake - the name Resort is a misnomer, it often is in Thailand. This was a charming little restaurant with a homely feel, and the food was glorious. While Bob and I love biking and do these trips for that, we also love the variety of food we get to experience on them. On the last day we climbed the 1273 steps to see Buddha - great view, very high, and the while the climb up and (much tougher on the legs, down), was hard work; the feeling of exhilaration when we had done it was really satisfying. Lots of monkeys around at the foot of this climb, another bonus if you enjoy watching monkeys being monkeys (rather than performers trained by humans). As stated in the title, after we completed this tour we did the one dayer a couple of days later. Of all our jaunts with this company we felt the Muang Thai one and the half dayer were the easiest cycling and parts of the Kao Sok one the hardest. We are late 50's and early 60's and fairly fit, but these bike tours are for everyone; you dont have to be a fitness fanatic, there is no rush, the only challenge you have is with yourself, so it you are a full on biker you are still catered for, if you choose to view it that way. On the one dayer one of our party felt unwell and retired to the van for the last 20kms - no problem at all, all needs are catered for. We have also found a hotel who will allow us to split a package deal so that when we disappear for our 2 nights/3 days biking, our luggage is stored safely and we dont pay for the room,; we pick up the rest of our package when we come home. In the past we have had trouble finding a hotel that would do this, but Karon Sea Sands is accommodating, if you email them direct and ask as well as requesting same with the wholesaler. We have every intention of doing more tours with Tan and Lek; we are mad keen to repeat the Koh Yao Noi one, it remains our favourite, and we will also email James, the owner, and ask what he can put together for us in the future. I should write something negative to balance this review - but I just cant think of one negative thing. Everything just works, the bikes, the booking, the van, the food, the accommodation, everything.

This was an awesome trip and we got to learn a lot about the local area, seeing many things we wouldn't have otherwise come across. Tan was a great guide and kept us well informed with good local knowledge and humorous anecdotes. I do a lot of mountain biking but I wasn't feeling well so it was nice to cruise around at a slower pace and take everything in for a change. The rubber plantations were really interesting landscapes and the Gibbon Rehabilitation centre was great to see as well. Plenty of water and yummy snacks provided too.
