Secret Cliff Resort
Ranked #109 of 135 Hotels in Karon
Reviewed July 4, 2013

We booked this property because of the price, location and the great reviews that it had gotten on trip advisor. It surely didn't disappoint. It is located high on the cliff on the north end of Karon Beach. It's very quiet and the grounds are beautiful. Each rooms is in an individual villa style dotted through out the area and is surrounded by lush foliage. In each room, they provide 2 bathrobes, slippers, flip flops, umbrella, a flashlight ( in case you want to wander the grounds at night) and all of the normal room amenities. Please note that since the resort is built on a cliff, it is not suitable for people with mobility issue. They have two restaurant on site (a pizza place and a regular one that serves a breakfast buffet, lunch and dinner). I had enjoyed all three meals there and must say that the food was really good (I'm Thai, so i am use to the local flavour) but the price is on the high side. However, the spectacular view more than makes up for it.

There is a small infinity pool there and it is very nice. Try to go there in the late afternoon as the pool looks over the ocean during sunset. What a great time to swim there. Also, make your way down to the lowest part of the grounds, there you will find stair leading you down to the boulders in the ocean, a great spot for picture taking. A note of caution, it's a very steep walk up the hills on your way back, you will guarantee to break a sweat.

Overall, a wonderful and peaceful stay. I highly recommend it!

If you want a beautiful resort, tucked away in lush greenery far away from the madness of Patong but close enough if you need a dose of debauchery, this is the place. All the staff were welcoming and tried their best. I stayed in a deluxe seaview room with breathtaking views at simply affordable rates. Sure I would have preferred more light in the bathroom and the aircon wasn't as strong as I would have liked, but the large room, clean bedding and wonderful atmosphere made me overlook the flaws. Would I like to stay there again? In a heartbeat!

Room Tip: Pay for the seaview room. Worth every cent.

Wonderful view if you stay in room no. 107-108. You can see the Andaman sea while you stay on the bed. The bed is large and clean. Breakfast is not attractive, plain and not much choices. Walking around the resort is recommended. Check out is take long time.

Room Tip: book the upper room of the ocean view

Recently stayed here with a group of 4 other people. We were lucky enough to get chalets overlooking the sea.....absolute heaven :)

I was apprehensive about staying here after reading some of the reviews re unhelpful staff etc but the reality couldn't have been further from the truth. We arrived late at night after a 6 hour flight and were welcomed warmly by the hotel Reception staff. They dealt with the processing, payment etc as quickly as and then we were whisked into the hotel 'Tuk Tuk' and driven almost right to our doorsteps.

My room (127, Delux Ocean View) overlooked the ocean, was clean and welcoming and bigger than I had anticipated. There was water (which was restocked daily), tea/coffee available and a fully stocked mini-bar (prices very reasonable and replenished daily!).

Yes the path down to the rooms was steep but we were regularly offered the 'tuk tuk' which more than made up for it.

The waiting staff were very attentive, taking away plates, cups etc when finished and replenishing teaq/coffee etc. We actually all fell in love with one of the waiting staff as she was so smiley! Lol. There was talk of kidnap :)

Would recommend this place to anyone, yes it's a little out the way but the hotel offers a daily return trip into Patong and a trip into Karon and a Tuk Tuk costs as little as 200 - 300 baht....buttons!!

We stayed here for two nights as we were going to out with Phuket Sail Tours then the trip was cancelled because of bad weather. The room was huge with the bathroom clean but could do with a 'freshen' up the balcony was a good size with a table and chairs so you can sit outside. The view was great. It's steep path down to the rooms so if you can't walk very well it's not suitable. Also it's dark at night time to negotiate the steps down to your room and can be slippery so care is needed. It has free Internet but Internet is not available in the rooms so have to go up to the lobby to use your laptop, so we usually did this on our way out or when we came back, also the connection would go down (could have been to bad weather). A ok place and great if you are wanting privacy

Well I stayed in this resort for the weekend, wanted to be away from the bustle so the location was perfect with great views. If you do stay here ensure you are fit as the steep intertwined paths are difficult to negotiate. I am extremely fit and the humidity doesn't help. Not wheelchair friendly and staff a little slow to respond with little English being spoken. But rooms and views were great and I would stay again.

The seaview rooms have gorgeous views, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom clean and comfortable, the room was a good size, a decent size balcony allowed for sitting outside to take in the seaview, this hotel does not have direct access to the beach, its a steep walk via other Hotels to get down to the beach or the Hotel shuttle will take you but only leaves 'Once" a day! Otherwise your up for 200B for a one way 5 minute trip to the beautiful Clean Karon Beach. I would recommend hiring a car or motorbike if you plan on seeing what Phuket has to offer, its the the most cost effective way to get around this large Island. We found the staff not so friendly at this hotel, the ground staff greeted you but the restaurant staff were evasive and not very warm or welcoming compared to other places in Thailand. The breakfast was dissappointing, for the size of the hotel and what you pay for a room ,this is not reflected in the quality of the food served. I cannot comment on the lunch and dinner menus because we ate outside the hotel. The brewed coffee was ok. We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights. Unfortunately upon checkout we were asked to pay for two 'face washers' that were never in the room to start with, we held our ground for a while but after trying to reason with the staff and asking to speak with the Manager ( who wasnt available at 6:30am in the morning) our taxi driver said "Just pay". Paying for something you know you didnt take or had is most annoying. We will write a letter to the Management.
So Secret Cliff is a lovely destination but needs to lift its game if it wants to compete with surrounding resorts on offer.
Phuket does not give tourists to Thailand a true taste of what this beautiful country has to offer. It has lovely beaches and great hotels, but sadly its becoming over run with foreigners behaving badly.

Room Tip: The sea view rooms are worth the effort to get down to and the walk up each day!
