“great hotel”
Reviewed October 23, 2011

we loved our stay at secret cliff. the room was great, it was big and had a great ocean view. the bed was huge and all the facilities you expect in a good hotel room although tiled floors instead of the sealed concrete would really cap it off. breakfast was great and the long walk up the hill to get it made me feel as though i had earned it. the pool was also very nice with an outstanding view. the staff were always friendly, but yes sometimes they didn't speak great english. this hotel is an experience of thailand and i can't think of anywhere else that has such a great view and gardens, however, if you are not very mobile then i would possibly look elsewhere as getting around could be draining. the distance to patong is not a problem and you will pay 300 baht to get there using the hotel driver and can barter the tuk tuk to 250 to return. its a little less to karon. we loved the view and gardens and i think it is the sacrafice that you make of being a little further out to get it.

Room Tip: pay the extra money for a view its worth it.

The hotel is very nice, the service is not bad as well. Just that there were times that at the reception they left people who didn't speak English so they were'nt of any help. For a lost stained beach towel they charged us around 20Euros which in my opinion is expensive. At the check out she even tried to charge me twice for an airport transfer. She said it was misunderstanding, anyway. Drinks are far too expensive so I suggest stop at at a 24/7 mini market and get your drinks for around 1/7 the price of the Hotel. For the rest it's very clean and the restaurant staff are very, very nice!!

Room Tip: They do deliver airport transfer but at a charge!

Good points - I had a luxury corner sea view room and it was lovely, large and tastefully decorated. Very clean. The view from the large balcony was fabulous. Room service was excellent. Lush extensive gardens and small but beautifully formed infinity pool. Nice extras and toiletries and bath but shower tap was terribly positioned.

But i left after three days as it was pretty boring for a solo traveller in the rainy season. The internet access is one computer and there was generally a queue, wifi is expensive. There were no books, dvds or newspapers to entertain (as is common in Thai hotels), and you have to get a taxi to go anywhere. I walked to Karon once, don't do it as the busy road with no walking facilities is a death trap. The television guide in the room was wrong and with 100 channels and only 5 in english it took a long time to find something to watch. The reception staff seemed pretty disinterested in the low season and it took me half an hour to check out as no-one was available to take my luggage (they transfer it by vehicle because of the numerous steps). Not suitable for elderly or disabled due to the steps, but would be fantastic place for couples/honeymooners who can make their own fun and share the cost of daily taxis.... I moved to another hotel closer to Karon which had free wifi and dvds, and beach access which was much better for me.

Room Tip: Sea View is best

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for our honeymoon after visiting a few other ones in Thailand and have to say that we had a wonderfull stay
we have read most of the reviews and eventhough there are a few very bad ones we decided to give it a chance. Great decision!

The hotel is located between Patong and Karon beach, you need transportation to get to either beach but as recommended by one reviewer, we rented a motocycle for 5 usd per day and had no problem at all.

We booked the Deluxe Ocean View. They assigned us the room# 109, which I have to admit that did not smell very good (musty smell).-Also the view was very nice but the ocean was blocked by some trees and other rooms so we requested a room change and they kindly moved us to room 108 (which was georgeous)
The new room smelled great, the view was better than room 109. We had a lovely stay.-

The staff is nice but not all of them speaks english, only a few receptionists do speak english (which is a problem when needing some directions, specially since the hotel is not located in a very touristic neighborhood)

Breakfast was very good, the restaurant also has a great view and the staff was very kind
We totally recommend this hotel for those looking for a quiet place, wonderful views and nice rooms.

We stayed the last four days of our honeymoon here in the Romantic Ocean View Suite. The view was fantastic, although the steps getting to and from the reception and restaurant certainly gave you a good cardio workout. The steps at the pool level are in an unfinished concrete surface which provided a very hazardous slip in the rain, leaving me a bit sore for the next 3 days. The staff were nice and friendly, and arranged our honeymoon set up on our second night as it had been left off the booking somehow.

The restaurant had nice views, but very expensive, much cheaper to head into Patong and try the restaurants down there. We ordered pizza twice whilst here, but twice the pizza was wrong, so didn't try that again. The buffet breakfasts were great.

It is away from the hustle and bustle of town itself which has its advantages, but the disadvantage is there is only one free shuttle into Patong at 11 in the morning, otherwise expect to pay 300 baht each way in and out of Patong. On day 3 we hired a scooter for 300 baht and was a good investment, in and out, up and down and exploring some of the southern beaches was good.

I think what we paid for the Suite was not really worth it as there are better places around, but on the whole it is a pleasant and scenic place.

The palce is really gorgeus, close to the busy Patong, yet far away from the madness. is between the peacefull Karon and Patong. Very nice location, structure and design. Friendly staff. booked through expedia and got an ocean view room with breackfast for about 50$ really worth it !

the place is acceptable, considering the price. they are a bit short of staff (only one girl running the spa), but people are very friendly. my partner likes the italian pizza place because they let him watched the entire 8:2 man un game (normally they open till 11pm, but was kind enough to open to 12 just for 2 guests). the Centara next door looks a lot nicer though. they do have one computer for all the guests with free internet. you have to purchase a token for the wifi, which costs 160thb per hour.

Room Tip: do order the high floor if you want a sea view.--trees are tall.
