After reading some of the earlier reviews of this resort, esp regarding the rooms and food, I was hesitant to book, however I'm so glad we did. We had an excellent experience, a truly all-inclusive resort, great staff, great fun. The airport pick up was nice, and it saved the hassle of a taxi. The room was perfectly fine, not fancy but very clean and very well maintained for a beach resort. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, and you really get a feeling of space, unencumbered and uncrowded allowing you to relax even as you make the walk from your room to the main part of the resort with the pool, bar, restaurant, etc.
Our daughter was in the Petit Club for our entire stay (5 days). She had a wonderful time and was busy throughout the day, giving us some space to relax and do other things. The Petit Club GOs were outstanding with the kids, engaging them with enormous enthusiasm. They did a fantastic job. We'd pick her up at the end of the day and usually went to the beach for the last hour of daylight as the Petit Club only uses a dedicated kids' pool, no beach time.
The food could be better, however, I understand the challenge faced by the chef, who was preparing meals for a very diverse clientele. During our visit the guests were approx 80% Asian, concentrated among Chinese, Japanese and Koreans, and everyone likes their national dishes. The buffet restaurant had food stations providing specialties from each of these countries as well Thai and western food, in addition to a non-stop ice cream station with cones and sundaes as well as other desserts and fruits. The restaurant staff were very accommodating to the kids, and were always able to locate a high chair or lend other assistance, while also serving up the house wine or draft beer for the adults. It does get a bit crazy in the restaurant but it's a family resort so it comes with the territory.
After dinner there is a show put on by the GOs which is always good fun. The bar is open from morning til late, and while it is free flowing, I never saw anyone become unruly or get out of hand.
In addition to the beach, there is a variety of activities for everyone (including lessons) in golf (incl 9 hole pitch 'n put), tennis, archery, badminton, volleyball, etc and the usual collection of pool games. There is also a snorkeling trip (inclusive) which involves a 30-40 min boat trip to a reef, which is great fun but leaves only about 40 mins for actual snorkeling.
Altogether, we had an outstanding time and met some really interesting people (and their kids) and did a lot of fun activities. My hat is off to the GOs and to the mgmt for making this a great experience for a multinational clientele. I should mention also that the nationalities of the GOs also match those of many guests so everyone is able to communicate and enjoy the resort in their own language.
