Spent 2 weeks in this dated, yet pleasent, clean and friendly hotel. Feb 2011 was quite busy in the hotel and a fair mixture of nationalities were staying here. The hotel provided live entertainment every night along with themed evenings of excelllent food. Many of the guests liked to explore - alas this meant after 9ish the bar and restaurant were deserted. Staff were helpful and chatty. This hotel is a must for beach lovers as it sits right on the beach, the only one in Karon. You will enjoy it.

Room Tip: ask for 2nd or 3rd floor at the south end!

Karon Beach Resort was a little gem. A small hotel, only 80 rooms each with a view of the bay, set right on the beach, at the south end corner of Karon beach. The rooms are spacious and kept very clean. The balconies are large and look out over the pool and beach. The beach is long, about an hours stroll from end to end, and is of very soft sand. The sea was warm and on most days quite calm. There are plenty of sunbeds all along the beach, and lots of beach bars offering drinks approximately half the price of the hotels. But saying that, we found the hotel meals really good value for money – really good quality and sensibly priced – in a perfect setting right alongside the beach.
All staff throughout the hotel are very friendly, although some of the reception staff could do with being a bit more customer friendly. Watcharin, a member of the breakfast/lunch/dinner team, in particluar was always smiley, friendly and courteous.
Turn right out of the front of the hotel and you are in the busy area of Kata, with endless shops, stalls, restaurants and bars.
There were very few English speaking guests at the hotel; in fact very few in the resort itself - some Australians, but mostly Russians, Germans, Swedes and Norwegians.

This is the 2nd time checking into the same hotel, it seems they getting better. Have asked for non smoking room and King bed, it was nicely arranged with a fruit basket in the room too. Hotel car was hired, paid for THB100 for a huge 11 seater van (non one booked the van at the same time), so we can have the van all by ourselves. Check in was easy and room was ready.
Room was clean and sea facing, just open your eyes in the morning you will see the pool & the sea. Breakfast was OK, just nice; unless you really intend to sit there throughout the mroning from 7-10am they serving buffet? (which i happen to see some travellers do).
Resort location was great, you can walk out from your hotel room to the pool in 3 mins, and another 3 mins into the sea. You do not need to cross the road , non like in Patung Beach area. You may also find local massage place right at the beach or should you prefer classy touch then opt for the resort massage; then you might missed the fun of having it done in the beach.
You may waslk out of the hotel for variaty of food served, I'd recommend 2 Chef's & Euro Deli (i think that is the name), very clean environment and high quality of food. Both serve local Thai food and western food. Waitresses can gerenally speak english, do not expect fluent and queen english though.
The resort surounding is the right crowd, you can have a lovely walk after your dinner. Unless you wanted lots of bars and pubs, then Patong is the place, as Karon area do not have a lot of people pushing you to buy things and all, but it is in Patong.
Would definately recommend it to all and just enjoy you holiday.
ps: saw another hotel customer was so upset because of not able to get wifi connectionn runnindgin the hotel, hotel only have it in 30 mins block.

We got back yesterday from a lovely holiday staying at the Karon Beach Resort. We arrived there after staying at a 5 star hotel in Bangkok for 2 nights, so on first arrival we were of course making comparisons. We had read some reviews on here which also may have influenced our initial impressions. The hotel is on arrival not that impressive as you enter straight off the main road running through the town. There is a small reception and the staff were welcoming.

On entering our room we thought it was nice but could have done with a little update, but I think our impression may have been influenced by the stay at the 5 star because later on in the week we commented on how nice we thought the hotel and room was. The view from our room was lovely. On the top floor looking straight down the beach. We emailed the hotel in advance to ask for a room on the top floor. Rooms on the ground floor lead straight out onto the pool, which can mean you don't have much privacy during the day.

The beds were really comfortable, the aircon was good in our room and the bathroom though quite small is adequate and the shower excellent, very powerful. There isn't a great deal of space to put your things but we made do.

Unlike some of the reviews, we found the staff extremely friendly at all times.

Breakfast was nice depending i suppose on what you eat. There was a few selections of cereal, fruit, cold meats and cheese, fresh bread and pastries, hot food with a local flavour and eggs made to order and bacon. The only negative was the juices, very minor, but I don't think they had ever seen a fruit.

The hotels situation makes it ideal for just going down onto the beach. We spent most of our days on the beach. You pay 200 baht for 2 sunbeds and umbrella. You can get food and drinks from the little hut on the beach and the local guys come and take your orders. You can also eat in the restaurant in the hotel which is adjacent to the beach, which is very reasonable and the food is good. Beds round the pool that face the sea are snapped up quickly by the early towel brigade.

Just outside the hotel on the left there is a place where you can use the internet, 20 baht for 20 mins. The hotel is slightly more expensive. On the right outside the hotel is a supermarket, extremely handy for any provisions.

For restaurants you can go both ways out of the hotel though most places are to the right. Two chefs we found was the nicest meal and most of the food we bought was very reasonable. As you are walking round you get some hassle off the local sellers but nothing compared to the people in Patong.

Overall we found the hotel very nice, the location superb, the staff friendly, the breakfast pleasant and the overall experience very enoyable.

sorry to be so harsh, but thought only fair to warn people who are expecting a normal 4 star Thai hotel - this is not it. We arrived here for the last 5 days of what up until then had been a wonderful first holiday in this country. After spending first 3 days at holiday inn in Bangkok, 1 night at Cape Panwa and then 4 blissful nights at Phi, phi Island village we made huge mistake of booking this hotel for our last 5 nights in Phuklet. We arrived on Sunday 13th March, actually disliked it on sight, it had a small scruffy entrance, no lovely Thai reception area, just an office area behind glass and 3 desks to welcome you in. You sit there and get quite off-hand person to book you in, then the good bit - up to your (De-lux....) room. The hallway looked like a hospital corridor, lots of wet beach towels slung on floor outside the door - that`s how they do it here! On entering the room there was a distinct funny smell, the whole room was very dull and dingy looking, nowhere near standard we had seen so far, furniture was very basic very dark, very grotty, dark black/brown wood everywhere - even on ceiling! Peeling furniture on balcony, yes you can see the sea and the rather bland pool area crammed with sunbeds, which in their hotel blurb they encourage you to reserve with a towel (that`s a first). Anyway had nothing going for it even the street it was in was naff. We managed to change to Kata Beach hotel in next resort, was hundred times better and all you would expect from a 4 star, is cost £150 more for 4 nights as we had to stay for the first but well worth it. I would not have stayed here one more night, I had to sleep with earplugs as we could here every sound from adjoining room. On a plus side the restaurant was very nice and food good as we did use it on that one night. Please do not believe all the wonderful reports in the other reviews as I did, I don`t know what planet these people live on. Oh and when we were checking in I ovrheard an I talian man trying to move from the hotel too, so it wasn`t just us. Happy hols, all rest of Thailand was wonderful..

Just returned from 21 nights at the Karon Beach Resort and Spa.We can not praise it sufficiently to explain how great this place is.From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we just loved it.How great to wake up every day and see a beautiful sandy beach and azure coloured sea.The location is priceless as is the hygiene of the entire complex.
The breakfast buffet is better than most 5 star Hotels. One is totally spoiled for choice.Staff continously ask if one needs a coffee/tea refill and the selection from tropical fresh fruits to full American English and European style breakfasts and then a whole selection of Asian dishes. One could fill up for the day.
The rooms are large and cooled by a good AC system.
After reading some reviews I was dubious but once arriving and experiencing it for ourselves we are going to return. The location is excellent and the beach is perfect. As all the other Hotels are situated across a road from the beach so immediately we were at an advantage. The two pools were great along with the pool staff.I cannot forget to mention a member of staff at breakfast who was always smiling friendly and consistently courteous and professional, his name is Watcharin and his service was 7 star at least.I honestly hope that whoever stays there will have as wonderful experience as we did.Congratulations Karon Beach Resort and Spa your job is well done.

This was our first time to Phuket and hopefully not the last. Having already given the thumbs up by some friends of ours who had stayed at this hotel earlier in the year, we were definitely not disappointed.
The decor and fitout was I suppose traditional Thai in appearance and had a really good feel. The rooms were a little dark but it was always great to wake up to the view of the ocean. We were top floor with connecting rooms.
This was the only resort on the beach and no need to cross a busy street to get to it. Very quiet where we were situated. Breakfast was always good value and the staff were always friendly and happy to please. Everytime we walked into the hotel, there was a guy named Kidd who greeted you with a huge smile and always interested to know how your day was. Really nice person who helped make our stay a memorable one.
