“Majestic Gardens and lovely tropical setting”
Reviewed July 1, 2011

After staying in Patong for four nights and with just 3 more nights till we were due to leave Thailand we decided to leave the hussle and bustle behind and stay somehwere relaxing and by the beach. We had a good look around some of the beaches to the North of Phuket and then headed South, but not too far. Just 20mins from Patong was the quiet location of Marina Phuket Resort. We walked in off the street and were offered a 50% off season rate of $150US per night staying in the Ocean View room. We were stoked as we could never afford to stay in a room for $300US. After thinking about it, we phoned to make our booking and were told the OV room was avaiklable for the first night but we could have a jungle room then transfer to an OV. Although disappointed we decided to take it. When arriving there they told us our OV room was available for the 3 nights.
After a welcome drink and a cool facecloth to wipe the humid grime away, we were shown to our room. WOW! If you like french polished teak then this is for you. The wooden floorboards are gorgeous. The room had a welcome feel, was clean and very spacious with large walk in shower, large bath, an apple computer installed using the flatscreen tv and wireless keyboard, and a big private balcony to sloth out on and enjoy the jungle/beach views. I would suggest they do some selective pruning of the trees so the ocean view isn't so obscured. A beach bag was provided with to beach towels to use at the beach and the pool. It was changed with fresh towels daily. The air-con was loud and deafened the sound of the seas crashing onto the beach and rock below. We made the mikstake of turning it off one night and woke at 2am sweltering in 29 degree heat!!
The pool was amazing, three different pools and depths, with randomly placed imitation rocks with seats.
The resturant was lovely, On the Rocks. There are two resturants but one is currently getting an upgrade which disappointingly we were not told about when, 1/ enquiring about staying and 2/ making a booking and 3/ on arrival. We worked it out for oursleves when going to the pool as you can't miss the sounds of construction. A minor oversight which didn't really bother us too much as there was an alternative. The room rate included a daily breakfast at On the Rocks. The venue is small and couldn't cater for large crowds and a full buffet so an a la carte menu is available which was ok but not much options. The coffee is lovely and freshly brewed.
The gardens are immaculate and overwhelmingly peaceful. Only thing is in the heat it seemed a long way to our room but a dip in the pool rectified that.
The beach is accessed by a short flight of stairs from the resort. At this time of year its dangerous to swim but walking in to waist deep was ok if you can read the waves and know where the rips were, clearly, some people didn't know how too and were dangerously in the wrong places at times. There are lifeguards in the area though.
Nadia, a baby elephant, arrived daily at 1030am. For 20 Baht you can get a bag of bananas and feed her, if your lucky she can kiss you on your cheek.
We loved our stay and they even took us to the airport as a free transfer.

We stayed at the Marina Phuket Resort in a jungle room for 6 nights in early June. The room was lovely - large with modern facilities, apple computer, comfortable king size bed. The property is stunning - each self contained bungalow set in a lush tropical setting with the most magnificent gardens surrounding the paths, rooms and pool. The strange thing was the room was so modern that there were some things that were simply impractical. For instance there was not one hook or place to hang a wet towel, wet swimwear, washing or anything else. Nor were there any drawers. There was sufficient hanging space and some shelves for clothes but despite the size of the room there was not one drawer!
Another strange thing is that the lighting system is so complex that we couldn't work it out. We are not dumb but there was were so many switches that worked the myriad of lights in the room that it was impossible to work out what each switch was for.
At present the restaurant by the pool is being reconstructed which meant some construction noise while by the pool, and no buffet breakfast. Instead of the buffet there was an a la carte menu at the 'On the Rocks' restaurant overlooking the beach. Beautiful location but the a la carte offerings were not what you would expect, especially having read on trip advisor that the buffet was good. We were thoroughly fed up by the limited breakfast options by day 6, when we boycotted breakfast altogether.
The walk to the rooms is long but it is a beautiful walk and it didn't bother us too much. It was not a place to bring a baby or kids.
The staff were helpful - our fridge didn't work and they replaced it within 20 minutes. The free transfer to the airport was in a large and very comfortable people mover.
We would stay there again.

This is one of the two Karon hotels that we try to stay in whenever we travel to Phuket . My husband prefers Hilton because he has status and collects points in their program, but I personally prefer this one because of it's location. It is on the hill at the south side of Karon beach. In order to get to the beach you just need to take a stroll through a beautiful garden and walk a few stairs down the hill instead of trying to dodge motorcycles while crossing the street as is the case with most of the other Karon hotels.

This time we booked directly with hotel and it worked out really well as they met us at the airport and it was a semi-private transfer in a minivan (there was another couple staying in this hotel that arrived at the same time). The check-in was not very fast, but they offered us some towels and welcome drink, so the wait was not unpleasant.
What we did not like much is the size of the room that we got. On previous stays we booked through a travel agent and got a really good rate on ocean view rooms. This time we were in a room closer to the road and were very surprised how small it was. The room looks much bigger on a picture on the web, but in reality it is very tiny. We tried to upgrade to bigger room, but nothing was available.

This is probably the only negative experience that we had during the stay. We came to Phuket not to spend the time in the room, so it was not really a very big deal. I should also mention that the buffet breakfast that was provided did not have much variety, but I'm comparing this to Hilton which is probably not fair. The service staff was as good and perhaps in some cases even better.

The beauty of the Marina Phuket is stunning. The grounds are immaculate, lush and gorgeous - a paradise. You can access the beach directly from the hotel, a great perk. The hotel has a good, central location. Easy access to everything (by taxi or tuk-tuk) but not too close to the crowds and rowdiness of Patong. Our room was a palace, the ocean views were perfect, the hot tub was romantic and delightful. Staff was friendly and courteous. Not a single complaint about the hotel except for at their restaurant On The Rock. We had breakfast there 3 days and dinner there one night. Almost every single server/hostess/staff member we encountered (except for one lovely older woman) was sour, snappy and rude. A shame because they were the only blemish on an otherwise perfect hotel. Nonetheless, we hope to return to the Marina Phuket one day soon, as we are now part of the family!

we were afamily of four with two young children. we stayed for 7 nights at the oceanview room. the hotel is very located with all the conveniences at walking distance. the hotel in right on the karon beach and has a wonderful restaurant ON The Rocks. since we were vegetarians it didnt have much to offer though we loved everything that we ate there. the hotel itself has a setting of a lush tropical forest adn the property is very well maintained. what i missed was the spa, which they didnt have at the hotel. also families with young children like me might find the walks a bit tedious especially after returning from trips like phiphi and phang nga.moreover there was no in room dining facility available round the clock.
the hotel is next to the dino park which is worth a visit with kids. they had an elephant named Nadia on the hotel campus which was great as the kids loved that.the travel desk was superb and we always took their services to go to the zoo, phang nga, jungceylon etc. and moreover its inexpensive.Yeah they also provide you with a mini MAC in your room and FREE Wi-Fi.
the rooms are very well maintained and the decor is neo-classic. the bathrooms are huge and the rooms are lavish with bathtubs and shower area seperate. we did spot a cockroach everyday in our bathroom since the hotel has tropical setting, but they were they took care about it and i have no complains. overall a BIG THUMBS UP to them. had a lovely stay.

We recently returned from Phuket Thailand, where we Honeymooned. We stayed on the beach at a lovely Hotel called Marina Puket. The setting of each bungalow in the lush green jungle, makes u feel like you are entering another world.
All the staff are friendly and ever ready to assist.

The amount of flowers and vegetation that was conserved here is also amazing.

It is also centrally located and a variety of shops and restaurants are available.

My husband and I had the times of our lives. I give Phuket a thumbs up and we will be back there soon.

We booked through the hotel website for special discount for 5 nights at the Marina Phuket Resort last October for our trip in April. When we arrived at the hotel, we were told that our rooms were no longer available and the hotel would be happy to put us up at a 3 star hotel nearby for 3 nights.

After some 2 hours of lenghty negotiations, we were reimbursed the 2 nights deposit and ended up at the Hilton.

Not sure about the reason for the cancellation but not a good first impression!
