“Good hotel (but with cardboard doors)”
Reviewed November 25, 2011

Very nice hotel in general. Location is good, just two minutes walk from wonderful Karon Beach, and many shops/restaurants/tourist services around. The swimming pool with Angkor Wat-like statue in the middle is just great. Breakfasts are OK. The only bad point is "cardboard" doors in rooms, so do not be surprised when you hear some child shouting "Mooooooom!" in the corridor as if he would shout it in your ear. When you make love in your room, everyone in the corridor would hear it too ;-). So, one point away for the lack of privacy. And if they ask more than 2500 Baht/night, better walk 5 minutes more and you'll find many cosy guesthouses for 1500 - without pool and breakfast but who cares.

What to say?
Depening on what you like in hotels this can be a very, very nice hotel. It is some 50 metres from the best spot on Karon Beach. Shops in abundance just around the corner. Amazing pool area in the hotel. Just choose; large small children's pool, regular pool or lagun-like pool with its own small waterfall and island bar, or climb and swim in the two lane pool that is outside some of the rooms. The hotel has its own, very cosy spa center - even though prices are higher than in spa-shops on the oceanfront. Some rooms have nice view towards the garden, but some face the street and that can be (maybe) somewhat load in the evening. Our room was towards the back bush, so even though we didn't have much of a view it was very quiet bordering to boring.

The breakfasts are impressive, one of the best I've had - ever. The problem is that the hotel is so big that the area is loud and not very calm. The restaurant opens up to the street so as cars and motorcycles are roaming on one side, you will have table fighting on the other side. An ongoing problem with hotels in Thailand is the birds that keep flying in and out trying to steal your food if you ever leave it unattended.

The rooms are big, the beds are like all beds in Thailand; hard. The strange Thai-habit of having window from bathroom into bedroom exists here. Free water and free pool/beach towels. Our room showed signs on wear and tear, but then again, you don't go to Thailand to check out if there is a crack in the door, do you?

+ for
Great pool area
Great location (best location all around in my opinion after 5 visits to Phuket)
Great breakfast

- for
Too big (in my opinion)
Rooms not up to 4+ Thai standard

Room Tip: I would try to stay away from rooms facing the busy street

Stayed here and let's say never again. Breakfast great! But that's it. Rest of food poor. Rooms stink and old. Pool slimy, and crowded. Location near nothing. Staff rude unhelpful and not child friendy. Yuk!!!

Stayed for two weeks on January. The rooms were nice and had enough space when traveling with two kids. We had two rooms which had access to one another. Also the balcony was spacious. AC was ok. Our room was fronting the back yeard (children´s playground) and this location I liked since I like more privacy and no noise!
The new year party was provided by the hotel and the food was good!

Most of the hotel guest seemed to be from Scandinavia and many had stayed there before. I can understand why. The pools were large and very child-friendly. The hotel food was good, I think my other son almost lived the two weeks from the hotel mini-pizzas...

The beach was just a few steps away and we enjoyed that much. The water was clear and lots to do. We didn´t have any problems while renting the jet skis even though we had read some warnings about them.

Near by you could walk to Kata or Karon and dine nicely. I was concerned if the prostitution would be a problem when traveling with children but we weren´t walking that late so it wasn´t that bad. A couple questions about the lady boys came from the kids but it was ok. This vacation was care free and our children would like to go back even though they aren´t friends of the Thaifood...

Stayed at this hotel for only one night unfortunately but thought it was great. Beautiful pools, swim up bar, lots of lounge chairs, spacious rooms, and about a 2 minute walk to the beach. Would have loved to stay longer. Our only complaint is that you had to pay a daily fee for the room safe key. Got a great deal off of a travel website.

Room Tip: Ground floor pool side rooms are very nice

We found the staff very helpful and extremely friendly, couldn't fault any of them. The rooms were cleaned every day, and were very comfortable. The kids loved the 3 swimming pools. The hotel is in a convenient location, not too far away from great shopping, beaches and eateries, I read some of the negative reviews for this hotel before we arrived and was a little concerned, but we had nothing to worry about, we were more than happy and wouldn't hesitate to use again. Fantastic place to holiday and great value for money.( We were there in the low season, so I think accomodation is a bit cheaper.)
