If you say you had a bad time at this hotel your are the fussiest person on the planet. The staff were exceptional from the time we arrived to the time we left, from the cleaning team to the people who organised our tours. Our room was beautiful and always well maintained, nothing was a problem for anyone there from getting a beer poolside to fast and efficient room service. The restaurants were fantastic and the private beach sensational. The 5 piece band that played a short set in the evenings were great and the elephant that visited daily was fantastic. Our only drama was we didn't stay long enough, we will definitely return to this hotel. 10 out of 10.

Room Tip: Any room there is fine.

A good private beach location, ruined by an aged property, and an extremely poor service delivery as a result of misguided, and rude foreign management team.

This property has decided to sell most of its rooms to Russian package tourists. Unfortunately, they have done this bregrudgingly, and treat all guests systematically poorly.

Quite rudely, to be more accurate. Obviously, a huge disappointment, of all places, in our lovely Thailand.

Housekeeping team seem to be doing well.
Positive and responsive.

On the other hand, the restaurants and food and beverage (F&B) outlets are a real shambles.
Unwilling staff, lead by repeatedly rude F&B managers/directors, struggling, and failing to keep it together.

It seems that, the F&B management would rather not have anyone there at all, keeping their 'eating tables' pristine, sans-guests!

Anything and everything is too much trouble and a bother.

Despite being a Starwood fan for over a decade, with hundreds of nights clocked up, globally, I can only wish that this lovely spot is rescued by some other operator.

Which would also help put the current F&B leadership out of their seeming missery!

Dear "TheRedEye"

We sincerely regret the dissatisfaction you have expressed. We are indeed privileged to receive guests from all over the world. At certain seasons of the year there may be more guests from one country than others. This is not only evident on Phuket Island alone but also in other parts of Thailand. Nevertheless, we thank you for sharing all these with us and rest assured that I have forwarded your comments to our executive committee for review and necessary rectification. To further investigate on your encounters, we hope you would be so kind to provide additional information - or specific interactions and venues where you feel we have let you down – to jehan.suanico@lemeridien.com. We sincerely appreciate your time in posting this feedback and would be even more grateful for what you would be willing to share as we continually look to improve our services and facilities.

We recently spent 5 nights at Le Meridien with business associates and had a great time. The service was great the food good and the setting beautiful. It was fantastic to hop in a cab and within a few minutes be in the chaos of Patong which was fantastic in small doses but equally as delightful was to come back to cool rooms, a beautiful secluded private beach (no hawkers) and a huge swimming pool. We would be happy to stay here again and look forward to returning.

Thank you for your review. We are delighted to know that you enjoyed your stay with us. Thank you for highlighting the resort's ideal location - close enough to be near Patong while being able to enjoy a quieter retreat at the end of the day, and a secluded beach conveniently next to the hotel. We arranged to go to Le Meridien to catch up with a group of friends who were on an award trip, and we were blown away by the quality of the whole experience.
We got a Garden View room, which had a comfortable King bed and good bathroom facilities, as well as a lovely little balcony, with a view into the forest (over the top of some of the "behind the scenes" parts of the resort). Housekeeping was impeccable throughout our stay.

The real joy though is the resort itself. The food from the restaurants we tried was delectable, and the pristine white beach with gentle waves lapping the shore was the stuff of postcards. Staff throughout the resort were courteous and spoke excellent English (from observation, many staff were fluent in several major languages).

As my partner is allergic to nuts, we really appreciated the care taken at all the restaurants we ate at to ensure that a suitable meal was provided, and the resort has an allergen information card that can be filled in to show to restaurant staff.

The surrounding towns of Karon and Patong are hectic and fume filled and left us feeling hot and hassled but Le Meridien was an oasis of calm. The room itself drove us nuts with it's almost total lack of accessible plugs and low lighting in the first place. If you're taking a laptop or rechargeable camera batteries or anything you may want to take a power strip with you. Also we never had hot water in our shower but were too stupid to mention it until check out so I guess that counts against us more than the property! The staff was consistently pleasant and tried hard to be helpful even when the language barrier (we speak English) was a high hurdle. The front desk staff has the best English, then the restaurants but much less. We really enjoyed Portofino and Warin Wang (hope that's the right name) and could sit outside at them and eavesdrop on the evening entertainment at the buffet area. But we never seemed to have an assigned wait person - one person would take an order, another would drop off the food, it was hard to get the eye of someone if you needed anything and no one ever came by to check. They need to do some training on that and it wouldn't kill them to pour another ounce of wine - very small pours! If you're Platinum you can get free breakfast in two of the hotels and if you're Gold or above internet is free. Having to constantly sign in can be a pain and then they put it on our bill anyway but were very nice about removing it. We never had trouble getting chairs at the beach or the pool and the large clean towels they provide are excellent. We booked a trip to the Phi Phi islands through the travel desk and the young woman there was very well informed and helpful. We also hired drivers for a few trips and would recommend Mookay or Frank. The spa massages were wonderful - if you can schedule during the discount times as it can make a big difference. And even though people may justifiably disapprove we sure did enjoy the resident baby elephant! Overall we were very happy here as they always tried hard to please. We can't stand cigarette smoke and the large contingent of Russian tourists smokes like they're in a remake of Mad Men so be careful where you sit! We had an ocean view and liked our little balcony. The room's electronics system for lighting, a/c, etc. was a bit of a nuisance until we figured it out.

Room Tip: Make sure your room isn't near where they store housekeeping supplies because people are out the...

I was extremely disappointed with the quality of this hotel! My husband and I were promised an oceanview room, and found on check in that we were in a garden view room. After much arging with the hotel manager, and being told that the resort was completely full, we checked in to the room and unpacked. A few hours later, we received a call that there was a leak in our room, and we were being given a complimentary upgrade to an oceanview room...I thought they were booked!
The room had ants around the welcome fruit basket, and the air conditioner was subpar. A positive is the comfort of the bed, however there is no top sheet...only comforter, which was too hot in the environment.
The beach is nice because is is private, however, it is not very refreshing due to the large number of sea lice present. If you spend more than a few minutes in the water, you will feel stinging at various places on your body...not pleasant.
There are no frozen alcoholic drinks on the menu. In the extreme heat I found this disappointing. They had a virgin slush, and I was able to order this, mixed with shot of rum to make a daiquiri, but then was charged for 2 drinks rather than 1! Their idea of frozen is to simply add more ice.
My biggest problem with the hotel was the poor level of service. I did not find the concierge desk helpful at all. There response was always "no" because they didn't want to take time to find out the answer to your questions or provide a service. I spent a lot of extra time booking my own excursions, dinner reservations, etc because i was constantly getting the run around from the hotel staff.
My husband and I were so irritated, that we ended up extending out vacation by 2 days just so that we could experience the beach in Thailand at a hotel with better service. We checked out and drove 2 hours to the Le Meridien Khao Lak. Night and day experience. The beach is larger in Khao Lak and the service is above and beyond better! I would never stay at the Le Meridien Phuket again nor recommend it to anyone. It really put a damper on our Thailand vacation, and in my opinion should not be a starwood property.

Room Tip: Choose a different hotel would be my best room advice

We stayed here already 4 times and last it was 15 years ago! To celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary we decided to give it another try. What a great pleasure was to see that many of the staff were still loyal to the hotel! The chef on the beach grill, or the friendly "beach-towel" guy!
We booked from March 9 to 22 (rooms 605 and 686) and got a beautifully renovated garden view room with... well... not a great view but it was o.k. The management apologized already in its welcome letter that they couldn't give us an upgrade (being a SPG Gold member).

STAFF
Makes the difference and is the soul of any hotel. They were simply ALL together just outstanding! From the room service ladies to the waiters, beach personnel, front desk, the chefs (BTW THANK YOU to the Greek chef for the lemongras and lime leafs)!!

FOOD
You have a good choice between International, Asian, Italian, and theme based buffet with evening entertainment. Everything delicious. Tip: don't book Half Board as we found it too expensive (1400 Baht p.p.) and we rarely spent this much on lunch or dinner. Better you pay it separately. If you can, rent a motorbike and visit one of the plenty nice, small, friendly restaurants in Karon!

ROOM(S)
We asked after one week if we could change our room and were offered a non-renovated see view room (686). We took it anyway as it was absolutely o.k. (yes, you could smell the age a bit...).
A/C and sleeping quality were perfect.

SUGGESTION
How about a "Management Cocktail" for return guests or SPG gold members? Maybe in a suite or on the beach?
Furthermore, I believe there should be more restrooms, especially close to the beach.

All in all, we really enjoyed!

Room Tip: Garden view room have sometimes no real garden view but a sort of backstreet or tennis court... but...
