“Average resort hotel”
Reviewed January 20, 2011

I stayed here for 5 nights in January 2011, my primary goal wasn't to see Phuket but to stay at a decent hotel and just relax for a couple days. Thanks to this hotel I was able to, but it isn't flawless.

The check in procedure went smoothly and I was given a welcome drink (non-alcoholic juice) and gentleman showed me to my room eventhough I insisted not to. I didn't have any luggage and I do know how to read signs. The room was located near the pool at the highest altitude. There are some elevators but pretty far away from my room so I prefered to use the stairs. Being located on a hill, one of the advantages is has some nice views, but also: you'll have to do some excercise in order to get to your room. Of course I didn't mind, but I know there might a few who do.

The room was quite small, but clean. The TV was of a good size, but of course dated (I still wonder WHEN are flat screen TV:s going to be standard at hotels!?). Balcony sizes differ but mine was large enough for a few people and you could see the sunset over the sea from there so it was pretty nice. Overall, the room is average but won't disappoint you (you get what you pay for).

The hotel has 3 pools divided into two pool areas. During my stay there were always sunbeds available for everyone and no need to rush in the morning just to get one. Most of the tourists are Scandinavian package tourists, generally families, so it's quite calm. You do have a chance to relax and that really made my days. The breakfast buffet was a bit crowded, though. And some food pretty cold too, so don't expect too much.

The location is pretty good. Unfortunately there aren't too many beach side hotels in Karon, most of the hotels are located 'on the wrong side of the street', meaning you'll have to put some clothes on, do some walking and cross the street in order to get to the beach. That's a minus, especially since the steet is pretty busy and it takes 5 minutes to get there and just 5 seconds to get to the pool. At night, all of this doesn't matter of course, and then I'd say it's a superb location for the nightlife in northern Karon. It's a very short walk to Soi Central, where you'll find a couple of restaurants, bars and shops. It's not as calm as it seems, but of course nothing compared to Patong. For families it's a pretty good spot, although sex tourism is a problem even here.

There's a business center at the hotel, but they charge you 150 baht per hour for Internet. In the year of 2011, I think it's basic manners to not charge anything at all for this. And the price is ridicolus by thai standards, the price is hundreds of percents higher than a random Internet cafe down the street. Regarding prices, I must say that the minibar prices are OK. Mineral water is cheap and they will even give you 0.5l per day for free!

On departure I was able to book the hotel's airport transfer for 700 baht which is 50 baht cheaper than the limousine service I took from the airport. The ride takes about an hour.

Overall, it's an average resort and you'll get what you pay for. Keep that in mind and you will not get disappointed. I would recommend this hotel for anyone.

this was our first trip to Phuket and we chose this hotel after reading several reviews on this and others. We were very happy with the accomodation, location and facilities available. We were on a higher floor for which a lift was available although there were a few steps to reach the lift but managable unless you had a pram in tow. We had a good view of the sea from our room. The room was very clean, fairly basic but had everything required including a safe. There was ample choice at the buffet breakfast each morning which we were more than happy with, it ranged from healthy to not-so-healthy..your choice. Breakfast was available from 6:30-11am.
There is a mini-mart at the hotel but the 7-eleven, just a short walk from the hotel, is much cheaper. It's a short stroll to the beach, shopping and restaurants. Shops are open until late evening. There is a selection of market stalls down towards the beach and there was a band on most evenings we were there, which you could hear from the hotel room but it wasn't overbearing.
We found the staff to be very polite, especially in the restaurant where the service was good. I recommend the Ocean Colada...super yummy and cool :)
It was cheap to get a tuktuk into Patong and only about 10 minutes away or less. Worth heading into if you like somewhere with more nightlife. We wanted somewhere quieter to stay at night and this was just right.
Spa at the hotel was expensive but a multitude of places to choose from a short stroll away. Lots of trips/activities available, again up to personal preference.

As a Repeater at this hotel, is was upgraded in the room and my wish for a room in a high floor was perfectly organised. The personal is very kind, the breakfast could have more changed in the offered froot. I was missing a place for the smokers next the restaurant, so i was forced to smoke near out the restaurant in standing with the coffee...not sonice. The room i liked very, also the very kind staff at reception, that was friendly, helpful and sympathic.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel on a last minute special of $159 AUD for 8 days including breakfast per person. We had taken the special thinking that if it was not very good we could move to another hotel as it was low season.
On arrival we were greeted with a cool drink and shown to our rooms. There are a lot of stairs at this hotel as it is on the side of a hill, some people that arrived with us - not in as good a health as my wife and I (we are late 50's early 60's) needed to be moved to a lower level. Our room was on the 5th level mostly covered by an elevator, gave us a good view of the beach and the lake in front of the hotel. The service was very good and the staff were very responsive to any requests. The rooms were getting a little dated but were still as good as any 3.5 star hotels in Australia and very clean. The included breakfast while not magic left very little to complain about. A Swedish couple with a small baby were having trouble trying to eat there meal as the child was a little distressed and so were taking it in turns to eat breakfast. The friendly staff offered and took the child while the parents ate the breakfast together the staff member and child were less than 15m away with child laughing and smiling. The Hotel is less than a 5 minute walk to the centre of Karon and just 10 minutes to the heart of Patong Beach.
There is free internet at the Irish Pub to the left as you go through the short cut to the centre of Karon if you buy a drink there. The most popular eating place was the "Red Onion" we had to queue for dinner even in the off season - the wait is worth it! 2 main meals a cocktail and a large beer for under $15 AUD and the meal were as good as any Thai restaurant in Australia for triple the cost.
There were Taxis right outside the hotel that would negotiate a full day tour. There were the usual stops at the places you hadn't asked for as they get fuel vouchers for taking you there, but these can be negotiated out of the day for a cost.
This was our 3rd trip to Phuket, the previous times we had stayed in 4.5 star resorts and these resorts were of a much higher quality, but having said that, there was nothing in this resort to diminish our holiday experience.

i have stayed @ this hotel twice because its great value! They understand and speak english well and they aim to please with great service. It has three pools, cheap cocktails, a taxi rank n 7/11 across the road and markets just a walk along the beach away! Only 5 mins from Patong and we love the location because we hire scooters and its only a short ride to busy patong or beautiful Rawii beach. Low season talk to flight centre cause u pay 5 nights get 5 free so works out $50 AUD a night with all you can eat breakfast!!! Will stay there again :)
