Stayed for a new year package with my partner The hotel is in a beautiful area of North Yorkshire. The staff in all areas were wonderful. They could not do enough to help. In particular the food was superb, dinner on both evenings was a great culinary experience.. The rooms were clean , well equipped, with comfy beds. The restaurant & bar staff, were amazing. The receptionist, did not get her name, she checked us out on 01/01/2014, exceptionally friendly, helpful & welcoming, Duty Manager, Mark was also a star. Also have to mention Emma, Hotel Manager, she was definitely " hands on" her work as mc on new year gala night was brilliant. My partner & I were engaged in 2013, & the Crown is definitely on our list of possible venues. They are licensed far marriages too !! Highly recommended.

Room Tip: You could try the romantic weekend package, with a four poster !!!!

We arrived around 1pm this afternoon. Planning to go for a walk before going in the pool but weather was horrible so went straight in to leisure centre. Attentive courteous young man on reception who provided us with robes, slippers and towels. Only 3 other people in the centre. Pool was lovely. We also used the steam room, sauna and Jacuzzi. One thing to point out Jacuzzi is on a timer and you can't over ride it. It would have been nice to have a couple of loungers in the pool area as we took books to read but there were only 3 garden chairs and a small low level table available. Enjoyed a couple of hours or so in the centre. Changing rooms adequate. Afternoon tea was acceptable, ham and tomato sandwiches and tuna mayo, a further filling would have been welcome. We ordered a portion of chips which were nice. Hot scones, jam and clotted cream and fruit cake were provided. The glass of proseco was very nice and there were adequate supplies of tea and coffee. Overall a pleasant afternoon, we would definitely return.

We stayed at The Crown for a 3 night Christmas (all inclusive) break.
When we visited in November we were able to see rooms that were available and to reserve a room of our choice.

We were latish in arriving on Christmas Eve, but found a cheery welcome and the receptionist took us through events of the next three days, then checked we had everything we needed, and made a dinner reservation. There was no problem to our booking an earlier dinner slot.
The menus that evening and the following days were comprehensive and well focused to days of Christmas. There was a good level of choice and each day the changes were rung to keep the taste buds tingling. The Christmas Day (evening) buffet was one of the best I have experienced. Just the right level of what might be appreciated by way of the "extra".
It is obvious that the catering team are making use of good local produce and extending their "home made" skills - (yummy deserts !!) I particularly enjoyed the mince pies and own recipe Christmas Pud.
The wine list is well balanced and not overpriced in my opinion, and the local beer (Black Sheep Brewery) spot on.

In our room when we arrived was a Christmas card greeting us from "Emma and the team". This set the stage for an experience that all of the staff did work as a team to make our stay first class. It would be wrong to mention any particular member of staff as all were excellent - though Stevie one of the young members of the team would have taken the award if one had to be nominated.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: If you have the chance call in to the hotel and the staff will show you round, we did this and were...

The Hotel is in a Good location, just off the A1. Rooms where abit chilly and lots of road noise outside due to no double glazing, could also hear the sign outside banging and sweeking in the wind. The hotel was not worth £145, at best £80, breakfast was average.

Stayed for only one night, staff very friendly and Hotel full of character. The only complaint I have is the executive suite my partner booked was a BIG dissapointment, the price charged was too much for what really was a standard room.

Room Tip: If booking an executive suite dont expect too much in room 21

Met some friends from the North East half way from home at Boroughbridge.

Hotel smartly decorated with comfortable furnishings.

It was a nice sunny day last Tuesday November 26th, chilly but very acceptable for November.

Inside the Crown the bar was chilly, the lounge was chilly and the restaurant (empty except for our party of four) was so chilly that we had to keep our overcoats on.from the moment we entered the dining room.until we had finished our meal.

The food was good if not outstanding but I will give the Crown a miss except during the heating season whenever that may be - Best Western or not.

Due to a mix up with dates when booking a hotel in Harrogate, we had to find an alternative place to stay at very short notice. From the moment we arrived at the Crown we were made to feel so welcome. The building has all the modern amenities without detracting from its history and character. Our room was clean and spacious, and the bed extremely comfortable. The food in the restaurant was delicious, with a great menu from which to choose. The Black Sheep ale at the bar was, as always, excellent. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. They clearly work closely as a team and we cannot praise them highly enough. Thank you so much for making our stay so very enjoyable.
