We enjoyed our stay here. It isnt a modern hotel but they are very welcoming and the pool and jacuzzi made it a very good choice.. The room was large, clean and comfortable, and we got a good nights sleep. Breakfast was good as well. A good place to break a long journey as it is just off the A1 and Boroughbridge is a pleasant enough place. We paid top rates as it was over the Christmas period and so I cant really comment on value. Overall no complaints and I would stay again.

Stayed here on business recently and this was the only reasonable hotel available. The hotel is larger than it initially looks and in parts is showing its age. It also has a traditional decor (not to everyone's taste). I didn't try the spa area but the pool looked clean and well maintained.

I had an upgraded room which contained a bunkbed (lone traveller so I wasn't going to be using that). Room was large and clean, but the television set on the wall was too small (given the distance from the bed) to be comfortable viewing. The bed had seen better days (somewhat lumpy and covered over with a succession of sheets and blankets to even it out). Presumably this is a multi-purpose family room where they separate the bed into two singles as the headboards didn't line up with the bed whilst I was staying. An ecclectic combination of mismatched patterns on the carpet, curtains and bedding.

I found the staff very helpful and pleasant during my stay. Evening meal was perfectly edible although it struck me as slightly strange that a risotto was served with potatoes and mixed vegetables.

Free wifi is available to residents but is limited to one device per passcode (so ask for another one if you have more devices).

We enjoyed a very snowy weekend in the warmth and comfort of the Crown. After a challenging journey we very much appreciated the warm welcome , then a quick dip in the swimming pool before dinner got us out of the routine of the working week and ready for a relaxing wekend, We have been trying to complete the Cleveland Way for some time, and in spite of the snow it didn't take too long to get to Helmsley for our walk to Sutton Bank. It was a really beautiful walk, especially around Rievaulx Abbey.
The food at the Crown was excellent and the menu provided a great choice. The facilities were very well presented and our room was very comfortable - especially the excellent, and not too soft, beds! We hope to be back before too long.

We stayed for two nights to attend a family funeral . The hotel was welcoming with very well appointed clean rooms . Staff were welcoming and very helpful - ordering taxis etc for us .
Breakfast was good . We enjoyed an excellent dinner on our second night far outstripping the family dinner we had at a noted local gastropub on our first night . The Wake for the funeral was also held at this hotel and they did us proud . We were also able to relax in the lovely swimming pool and spa . All in all despite the sad occasion of our visit a very enjoyable stay . Look forward to staying there again .

This was our second visit to the Crown for a weekend stay. The Hotel is lovely, rooms cosy and very clean with all amenities. Staff were excellent and couldn't have been more helpful, nothing is too much trouble, thanks to Mark and all the staff who made us feel so welcome. There was a good selection on the menu for evening meal and breakfast, something for everyone and good quality. Will definately stay here again when visiting Yorkshire.

We booked our dog in and were given a ground floor room ,complete with dog basket and water bowl.Fooodwas very acceptable and plenty of it.Staff superb.Only downside was that only one other couple were staying. At least the gym and pool were being used by local.people.Highly recommended
