We stayed two nights at this Hotel and from entering the building to leaving we were accommodated to a 5* degree. The staff were excellent and could not do enough for us. The rooms were to a very high standard of decoration and within the whole of the building, No Expense has been spared.
Whoever wrote POOR in the review box must have been from the antiquated property across the road.

Room Tip: this is in a quiet position all rooms are good

I booked the Grantham Arms as a Valentine overnighter treat for my husband, along with a couple of friends. We were not disappointed. Our room was very comfortable and nicely equipped, small shower room, superb crisp bed linen and soft towels. Complimentary mineral water and tea , coffee and biscuits. We had the Valentines set menu, it was absolutely delicious , every course was perfect, an oyster as amuse bouche, was very original. Right down to the petit fours, superb.
Breakfast was good quality, good choices including porridge and kippers.
Staff all very attentive, friendly and helpful.
Their cocktails are classic with some new variations, their house cocktails are worth a try, they have a impressive range of gin too.
This is a really great place to stay over and the Grantham Arms and team are doing great things in the kitchen, they are pulling out the stops to please their clientele as they build their reputation.

We have waited to try The Grantham Arms for a long time and it will be a long time before we try again . We visited on a Tuesday lunchtime and the first thing we noticed was the decor which was dark and all purple with silver mirrors. More like a club. We ordered drinks and sat down to look at the menu and for the first time ever we could not find anything we fancied off the lunch menu or the a la carte menu. We paid for our expensive drinks and left not before telling our Waitress why. No interest shown. The Chef ,Manager and Waitress seemed to have little to do and nobody was interested to find out our opinions. We have eaten at the other establishments owned by this group but simply don`t understand what they hope to achieve here.Well our lunch in the town was excellent and driving past the car park of the Grantham Arms again we noticed that it was still empty. The emphasis seems all wrong and I`m sure that this sort of regime will not be too popular with locals when the is so much excellent local competition.

The 5th of Oct found me arriving for cocktails at the Grantham for a 1 night stay for a Birthday treat. The décor was inviting and was perfect for feeling special & being treated.

Front of house was service was perfect, and offered in a friendly and professional manner, pre-dinner drinks of cocktails in the bar, (The Grantham Dragon has a sneaky kick) set the tone of a wonderful relaxed and enjoyable stay.

“I once read show me a great soup and I’ll almost always show you a great restaurant” And Wow was my soup good! The menu was fabulous and thankfully all the food tasted as incredible as it sounded.

My starter of Celeriac Velouté with Mixed Wild Mushrooms was divine and I couldn’t have asked for better. My husband was equally appreciative of his starter, Crispy Hens Egg, Salad of Artichokes, Radish, Rocket & Truffle Dressing

For mains I chose, Baked Plaice Fillet, Chorizo & Chick Pea Cassoulet, Fennel “Risotto”, Red Wine Butter Sauce, my husband’s choice was the Slow Cooked Rare Breed Pork Belly, Pork Beignets, Carrots, Beetroot, Cider Jus . Both were equally delicious and appreciated in full.

Desert was a must to round off the evening, my husband ordered the cheese board, I ordered the Chefs trio of dessert s as I was spoilt for choice… you would not be disappointed with either!

The Room was large spacious and had some great touches. Breakfast was cooked to order, generous and good quality.

A birthday delight and compliments to the whole team for our wonderful stay. Superb service! From Check in to check out.
