Several of our group had read the review dated 4th Sept 2011 and we were extremely concerned about our society weekend which was to begin on the 9th September. Being the organiser and having played both courses back in June 2011, when a friend and I had two enjoyable rounds of golf, this review was very worrying.

However, it would seem that the hotel staff and green keepers in particular had put in a great deal of work between the 4th and the 9th Sept as we found both courses in excellent condition. Fairways and tee-boxes were in really good nick and the greens were excellent. We played both courses and this applied to both. The golf experience was perfect we found non of the faults that had been described in that report of the 4th Sept.

It is true that the clubhouse is a temporary structure but the bar/restaurant in it provided all we asked and needed.

The hotel has been completely redecorated and refurbished and was a beautiful place to stay. The restaurant here offered a high standard 'a la carte' menu and everyone was more than happy with the accommodation. All 8 players in our group would look forward to visiting the resort again .

8 blokes have just spent a wonderful long weekend here playing both golf courses which were in excellent condition. Staff all friendly and helpful and the food fantastic. We were all worried before the trip due to the review posted 4.9.11 which completely misrepresents the golf courses because they were both in excellent condition with superb greens. Of course there are brambles in the woods and hedgerows if you choose to hit your ball in there! We will be returning.

A once beautiful club has been so let go, we were very sad to see it so overgrown with brambles attacking us from all angles. We could not go in the club house as they had filled it with a society who they cooked for,but could not provide food for the mixed open, beer was off no bacardi available and no dark rum, but as they have been running the "Club House" from portacabins for over 4 years this is hardly surprising. Dont be fooled by pictures of the house as this seems to be only available to Hotel guests. We paid good money to play a awful course with no facilities. We travelled from Cornwall to play and ended up having coffee and drinks in our motorhome outside the full up cabins we were very dissapointed. The very lovely lady Captain was showing great distress and was not given any help by management, she was told that the presentation could not be held in the cabin I could go on, but it really was awful.

I've used this hotelseveral times when on business in the area and have never found anything to complain about. They are upgrading some of the rooms and appear to be having a new "wing" built but it doesn't impose upon your stay at all. Set in an old stately home, yes it was no doubt wonderful in it's heyday but they have kept it in keeping with the tradition and it still exudes a small piece of royalty. Food is great in the evening and whislt the cooked breakfast is tasty, it would be nice to have the juices chilled..
Overall, I will continue to use this as I always get a cracking night's sleep and it serves me for working in the South West.

We stayed here for a friend's wedding. We had one of the rooms in the courtyard, which was beautifully done and very comfortable. A very attractive hotel, and an enjoyable stay.

This hotel has a sign on the road showing 'The Park'. There are no visible signs to indicate that this is a hotel let alone the Tracy Park Hotel! It looked nothing at all like the pictures on their website.
Two words spring to mind 'faded glory' which can be great as such but because the place was empty and we were rattling around, it felt slightly eerie.
We noticed that there were refurbishments taking place and it could be wonderful when finished. But for now the woodwork was rotting, beautiful glass windows shattered, wallpaper peeling - and that's just in the dining room! Which, by the way, was not the beautiful room shown on their website but a room usually used for functions (judging by the chairs lined up against the walls and the long, empty tables).
The restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious.
The room small but comfortable and the views, from the rear, absolutely beautiful.
We did enjoy our stay however we had a continuous feeling that we were in the wrong hotel, considering it was nothing at all like the website images as we were expecting.

Four golfers and their wives have made numerous similar trips in this country, whilst the setting for Tracy Park is quite stunning, it falls short of acceptable in several respects. The golf courses are clearly lacking from regular maintenance The Crown Course is just about playable but needs a good tidy up. The Cromwell whilst having some pretty par 3's and some nice holes near the main house is in need of a lot of attention. One example (as mentioned by a previous reporter) are the bunkers - clearly they have not been raked or weeded for weeks. The rooms are comfortable and modern, but all four of ours had something wrong with them from TV not working to toilet seat loose and faulty shower. Repeated reports to the staff failed to have any rectified. The food standard is excellent BUT a choice from two options for each course is a bit mean, although they did add a steak to the mains for our second night, which was also very good.
I am sure with some investment in staff and attention to detail the owners could get this place to a good standard, but at the moment they are doing themselves more harm than good. A major priority has to be the golf courses if you want to call yourself a GOLF VENUE. We did note that they are building a spa complex and possibly a new Clubhouse. I think there are better options to be found in this area.

Many thanks for taking the time to post a review of our property. We value all feedback.

Having bought the resort at the start of the year, the new owners have invested heavily in certain areas of the business which were left neglected by the previous owners. In the six months they have owned the business, they have put great sums into re-development and redecoration projects. The whole of the Manor House has been decorated from top to bottom and re-carpeted throughout. Work has begun on the new resort reception, pro-shop and new bedrooms that the old owners started but abandoned. We now have a firm end completion date for this work. Obviously, for a size of property like ours, everything cannot be done overnight. We are now turning our attention to the golf courses. The new clubhouse will be completed Summer 2012.
We have just started a regeneration project on both courses which includes bunker re-design/removal, fairway maintenence, green re-seeding, and lake management. This will be on-going until the end of the year to make both courses up there with the best in the area. Again, this is taking place alongside all the other projects currently on-going. Short of closing the resort for 6 months, the owners can only do the work needed around existing business to put right what detioriorated so badly during the previous ownership.

I'm sorry that none of the maintenence issues were attended to by staff while at the resort - I will investigate fully why this was the case. I can only apologise and if needs be, re-training will take place.

We do value your feedback, and are constantly seeking to improve and turn the business into what the previous ownership couldn't. With the developments that are taking place, we feel we will have the predominant golf resort in this area within the year. I do hope you will be able to return once all rennovation work is complete both on the hotel and golf courses.
