“Best B&B in Lahad Datu, may be all of Sabah”
Reviewed April 13, 2014

We spent one night here on the way to Darnum valley. This B&B is located in a residential neighborhood. A two-story building with the 2nd floor converted as bedrooms and bathroom for B&B. The rooms are very clean with attentions to details, fresh flowers everywhere, a very nice touch. We were the only couple that day so it felt spacious.

The host and hostess, Simon and Tisch, are very friendly and made us feel at home. We did the mount Silam ride in the afternoon. The ocean view at the top was really nice and the ride down the mountain was a blast. However, there are a few short, steep sections at the top, so use caution if you haven't ridden the bike for a while.

For dinner, Tisch cooked some excellent multi-courses local cushine, pared with a bottle of red wine, on top of the fantastic service and good conversation, we had a very enjoyable evening.

Highly recommend this B&B if you are in Lahad Datu.

My first contact to Tisha and Simon was via e-mail, because the helped me fast and effectiv to find a stay in the Danum Valley Field Center - for a fair fee. And because i read in a blog, staying there must be fine and even the diner, i deciced, to get there for one evening and check it out for myself - including the diner.
It was a good decision :) Reasons:
Tisha and Simon have a special kind of making contact to strangers and welcome new guests - an open and heartwarming one. So feel very welcome and not like customer, more... a bit like an a family member or an old friend. Welcome means special small snack and drinks too.
I didn't know where to go after Lahad Datu and within 2,5 hours the helped me out with planning the whole rest of my trip (booking divers hostel, divers licence, dive trip, flights, bus transfer etc.) and gave me some inspiration, what to do next.
The diner was not a call for eating. It was an experience. You sit there, and then you get a guiding through the local kitchen and spices and it tasted gread (yes, they CAN cook). I feld like a restaurant critic, whose cover was loose and so he got the special service :)

Summary: Absolutely recommendable. I had no bad hostels oder B&B in my 3 weeks in Borneo and a few better ones, but this one was outstanding and that's the review, which fits the situation there.

Greetings,

Karsten

Me and my wife stopped off here for only one night whilst on our honeymoon, and immediately wished we had booked a few more days and could have sampled the bike tours! Both Tisha and Simon were outstanding hosts and the effort they went to to make us feel at home was exemplary. The food and atmosphere for our evening meal was delightful and we can't recommend their little B&B enough.

If we ever get the chance to go back to Borneo, we will definitely be taking a chance to stay longer and take one of their bike tours. We wish Tisha and Simon all the success in the world with their endeavour and advise anyone visiting Borneo to make sure they pay a visit to Bike and Tours B&B :) Their hospitality and friendliness are one of the fond memories that made our honeymoon a time we will never forget.

We stayed at Tisha and Simon's B&B after a 1-day bike tour with Simon through the Danum Valley for one night. The room within their house is nothing special but has everything you need. The really special and wonderful about this place is the way how Tisha and Simon are taking care of their guests: We got a very nice welcome drink and snack, the dinner was just perfect. Tisha is cooking traditional food whis is the best we had in complete Malaysia. They even washed our clothes. We really felt like home and Tisha and Simon are prioviding a service which makes you feel staying with good old friends.

We absolutely loved spending time with Tisha and Simon - whose attention to detail made our stay like spending time with old mates. I would recommend staying here to everyone. Their home has been done out lovely, and is quite a little haven to relax in. Food here is delicious and beautifully presented, which goes way above and beyond other budget accommodation properties in the whole of Malaysia. Well done guys! We can't wait to see you again x

You can not go wrong staying with Tisha and Simon. Everything from Simon's tour of Lahad Datu and the fabulous meals he and Tisha prepared for us were over the top. Simon even went out of his way to clean our muddy hiking boots! Didn't expect that! I wish we had more time to spend with them as our evening chats were so much fun.

Right from the time I contacted Tisha & Simon at Bike & Tours I felt I was in good hands, I was right. They organized Darnam Valley for us which was a blessing as it was fully booked but Tisha got us in, thanks Tisha. All up we stayed three nights with Tisha & Simon and the pampering never stopped from arrival to departure. Tisha & Simon have a third sense, you only have to give the smallest hint of something you want or want to do and next thing you have it or they will arrange it, hosts of the best kind. Their B&B is spotless and has the most relaxing atmosphere. If you want you can veg out and be pampered by Tisha & Simon from morning till night, like us. Every other review has discussed their food so we do not have to go there except to say we put on weight. We have to give Tisha & Simon a big heart felt thank you. People said to us why would you want to stay in Lahad Datu there is nothing there, WRONG. Let alone Tisha & Simon we meet some of the friendliest people in the world in Lahad Datu and will never forget their smiling faces.
