“Gow Bush Kon BS!”

Had booked a bear hunt for september for 4 guys. We arrived late and were told we need to get to our sites right away. Outfitter never had bears hitting our bait sites. In 7 days not one picture of anything on my train cam at anytime of any animals. We all made the best of it but when you pay for a bear hunt and don't see a bear and no fresh sign its crap.

This party would not listen to the guide, they insisted on cutting trees and putting out pails of stuff and changing the appearance of the sites to the bears.Previous to their arrival, we consistantly had good quality big bears being caught on camera daily. Unfortunately being a deer hunter does not make a Bear Hunter out of this group. Good Big quality Black Bear do not get Big by being stupid. Good Luck to this group with future endevours..Steve

The accomodations were as expected. It was nice to have internet access. We received little to no fishing advice because we did not pay for the "guide service". The out lakes, specifically Hangingstone & Stumpy, are great fishing lakes but the access and the boats provided on these lakes are terrible. We fished Hangingstone from the bank because our motor didn't work and the boat leaked. We did catch a lot of smallmouth though. There is zero chance of a return visit. There are much closer lakes to the US with better fishing.

Room Tip: All cabins appeared to have good views of the lake.

These people from Carlyle seemed really nice, but after instruction, forgot to turn fuel switch on.Without exception, every guest gets a two fold explanation of a map of main lake one to point out hazards, one to show current hot spots for fishing. Out lake boats get abused and some times leak a bit, but you need to open fuel valve for motor(new at the time).Sorry you can't return, as we
Always enjoy our American friends. Steve

From the minute your arrive you are warmley greeted by Steve Lyle (owner/operator) and his partner Lydia with her friendly infectious smile. Every minute of the trip was fantastic from the boating, fishing, blueberry picking to all the wonderful sunsets. The cabin was very spacious with an enclosed porch for watching the beantiful sunsets in the evening. The cabin was fully equipped with all the cooking utensils/ pots/pans and dishes. Cabin consisted of double bed, two bunk beds and a pull out couch. Beds are fully made up with sheets, pillows and comforters and ready to just relax in after a full day of fishing. As this was our first trip North I really enjoyed hearing about the history of the place, how the beavers do their work and how the forestry is managed. It was also very interesting seeing how the bear baits are set up for the bear hunts.....best outdoor education I've ever seen. Make a visit and see for yourself.
