You could easily spend a full day ambling through all the exhibits and artefacts. A great bit of history and it's good to see places like this exist.

The Lincolnshire Aviation Museum is an opportunity to see some second world war memorabilia up close and the night time taxi run of the Lancaster is really atmospheric and it is an easy step to imagine what faced the world of Lancaster crews. With a naafi style cafe the old airfield is a great experience.

A wet and cold June day - not the best type of day for visiting hangars and airfields, but this museum has lots to see, a good cafe and great displays covering a huge area of the air war in WW2 and Lincolnshire's part in it. We spent a fascinating day there and enjoyed the imaginative ways in which information was presented.
Displays ranged from the "hardware" - a variety of WW2 planes and vehicles through how the planes were controlled by the control tower with audio displays which gave the atmosphere of the bombing raids, the experiences and responses of ordinary people in wartime and the extraordinary exploits of wartime POW's as they tried and succeeded in escaping.
I recommend it unreservedly to all who want to understand more of this critical period of our history.

but not a huge amount else. There is a lot of history here but its really for fans. The Lancaster "Just Jane" though is magnificent and the volunteer guides do a splendid job of describing the aircraft to the visitor groups. The Cafe is good too but make sure you visit when the Lanc is running as they start and taxi it regularly. With a bit of luck, it will be flying in the next 18 months as well.

Really enjoyable visit, very relaxed place to wander around mercifully free of jobsworth's ! I thought being alone in the briefing room was quite atmospheric and made you think of all the young men who would have passed through the doors of places like this never to return.Recommended.
