“Fabulous Beach Vacation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 31, 2012

We spent two weeks at Caribe Town. The beaches, a very short stroll away, called to us each day - walking for hours on the beautiful sand, and playing in the surf. We also enjoyed the sound of the surf each night from our very comfortable bed. Jessica puts on a delicious breakfast each day, and was always available to help with suggestions for restaurants or activities. We really enjoyed the Canopy Zip Line tour that she arranged - pick up and delivery right at the hotel. The flowers and the birds were a constant delight. The location is perfect for just kicking back and relaxing, but there are enough tours and activities that you could be on the go every day to check out something new.

Our group of 6 recently stayed 2 weeks at Caribe Town and we highly recommend the B & B. We were within walking distance of several restaurants and 3 minutes from the beach.

Jess was always available and can coordinate tours, restaurant reservations, cab rides etc.

All in all a very pleasant experience.

We visited this resort for two weeks in a group of 4 couples. The accomodation in cabins in the jungle was very comfortable. The cabins were clean, the beds were comfortable and it was very quiet and peaceful. The staff at Caribe Town were very friendly and extremely helpful with tour and restaurant suggestions. The hotel is within walking distance of several very good restaurants. I recommend Caribe Town to both young and old and for both thse who want a lot of activities and those who want a great rest. The owner Jesse and her staff serves up a very tasty and sizeable with a lot of different choices.

We stayed at Caribe Town for a week in January 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed it. We would definitely stay there the next time we go to the area.

The location was great, far enough away from town that you don't have to deal with the noise and traffic but close enough that it's not a burden to bike to. There are also some good restaurants and a supermarket within easy walking distance. Also within walking distance (~100 meters) is Playa Cocles, which I would rate the best beach in the area. It is large and beautiful, with soft sand, and was practically deserted when we were there. Note there is some driftwood on the beach because the jungle goes right up to the beach, but we did not find it bothersome and in fact thought it added an element of natural beauty you don't find with those overgroomed beaches in other parts of the Caribbean.

The complex at Caribe Town is beautiful, set right in the jungle but very close to the main road and beach. It is also a nice size for a relaxing vacation with your sweetheart or family, with just a handful of bungalows surrounding a main building. Jessica, the owner, serves a delicious breakfast every morning at the main building. The main building also has a pool with a swim-up bar. Drinks and snacks are reasonably priced and Jessica also allows guests to use the refrigerator and kitchen as long as you clean up after yourself. Caribe Town also has some bikes for rent at good daily and weekly rates. Jessica is also extremely helpful when it comes to booking tours and ground transportation and has great recommendations for restaurants and activities in the area. Caribe Town, and Puerto Viejo generally, is close to nice attractions like ziplining in the canopy, kayaking, snorkeling, etc.

We stayed in bungalow #3, which has a king bed and overhead fan. We found the fan to be enough to cool the room when we were there in January. The bed was comfortable. The room was clean and on the rustic side of things, but if you're reading this, you're probably OK with that. (I don't think anyone goes to Puerto Viejo expecting the Ritz Carlton.) Our bungalow had a two-person hammock out front that we spent many lazy nights relaxing in while sipping the local beer and listening to the noises of the jungle.

All in all, it was a great vacation and we would gladly stay at Caribe Town again.

Great jungle experience, wonderful host Jesse, owner, gave wonderful hospitality. Unigue jungle cabins were serviced daily and the main open air lounge area was always full of social interaction. Rates were very affordable and included breakfast. For an alternate style of vacation vsus the big resorts, this is it. Lots of great restaurants within walking distance. And a great beach within 150 meters

Room Tip: Try to reserve a cabin versus rooms or suites in some adjoining houses. Some have air conditioning b...

Perfect. It was our first trip to Costa Rica. I was booking online and very tentative to say the least. The 2 reviews of Carbe Town (at the time) glowed of the personal service and wonderful setting. So I booked based on that. We took 2 of the 5 cabana's, for two weeks immediately after Christmas. Mom, dad and kids 17 and 18. It was exactly what we were looking for. Quiet, private, 5 minutes to the beach and close enough to all amenities to be handy yet secluded. Jessica is awesome and her staff are great. It is a very personal and private experience. Jessica is always close with anwers and for booking whatever it is you are doing. As for us, we did the Jaguar Sanctuary and the Sea Kyaking tours. Incredible. We also took in some surf lessons and rented boards on our own a couple of times as well. We read by the pool, and had numerous " fruity, rummy, punchie things " that are to die for. Breakfasts are served everyday and are the best. You are on your own for lunch and dinners, which is perfect. There are many good restaurants you wont be able to hit them all.
Thanks Jessica

We had booked our stay through a local tour agency. Unfortuately there was a bit of a mismatch as the open bungalow offered by the agency was not really suitable for our little baby. Luckily, Jessica the manager instantly offered us a switch which turned out to be an excellent option for us three, located on the floor above the bar, with a veranda 'of our own'.
You can do your own cooking or eat out around the corner. Very relaxed atmosphere at Caribe Town!
