I had three nights at the wonderful Chetnole Inn in early September .
A truly happy and comfortable experience , totally spotless and wonderfully decorated rooms , excellent food worthy of many awards , and a choice of ales and ciders , not to mention excellent wines .
Value and quality are rare to find these days and both are in abundance at this charming truly English village Inn.
I will definitely return to this Inn and beautiful Dorset soon .

Room Tip: 3 rooms and all totally individual and absolutely charming

Beautiful atmospheric inn. Hidden in Dorset countryside, not far from Sherborne. We stayed for one night in Hardy room, spacious, nice and clean. Owners are friendly and hospitable. This place is also an excellent dining pub.

We stayed for 2 nights in August in this lovely Inn, the first night we stayed in the twin bedded room (Henchard) which had the most comfortable beds and the room was lovely - very clean & fresh. Tea/coffee tray with 'real'coffee.
We had to move rooms the 2nd night as we were very late booking & stayed in a room with a king sized bed(Tess), this again was excellent but the bed a little hard - not really a complaint- just preferred the 1st room.
The breakfast was superb with fresh ingredients very well cooked.
The Restaurant had stripped pine tables and the menu was excellent, we had no problem making a choice for the 2 nights. Wine was very good and not overpriced.
We were lucky enough to book the rooms through Laterooms at the discounted rate of £75 per night B&B but would have been quite happy paying the full price of £95.

Definitely recommend this Inn.

Room Tip: We liked Henchard which had very comfortable twin beds, which were pushed together before our arrival, but all 3 rooms are excellent.

Spent two nights in the room called Tess - lovely view out towards the church and the room was fresh ,bright and spacious. The whole Inn combines traditional things like stone floors, pine furniture with a fresh modern look. Had dinner there twice and there is definitely a good chef at work. Chetnole was also a good base for exploring local villages and doing two long walks.

My partner Sue found the Chetnole Inn whilst hunting around the net, looking for somewhere for us to sneak off to for a few days.
The reviews on TA were all very positive, and we duly took the plunge and booked for a 3-night stay.
There are only 3 rooms at the Inn, so advance booking (I guess particularly in summer) would be advisable. The rooms have 'names', ours being the Hardy.

Our room was both spacious, well-equipped and spotlessly clean, with a lovely en-suite (please note shower-only in this room). The room also looked over the Church (and graveyard!) opposite, but I'm pleased to say that the only 'spirits' we encountered were the ones behind the bar!

Chetnole is well positioned for either visiting the Dorset 'jurassic' coast (about a 30-minute drive), or, like us, visiting National Trust properties in the surrounding areas. We ate in the Pub on two nights, both meals being of an excellent quality, and reasonable prices, when compared with similar properties in our experience.
Our only 'gripe' was that the menu could have been more extensive.....it's fairly limited, but they did have 'specials' offered in addition, over the 3 nights we stayed.

Chetnole is a quiet village, with its own ford, and worth a walk around after your evening meal. We enjoyed undisturbed sleep on all 3 nights, and there never seemed to be much more than general chat emanating from the Bar and restaurant area during opening hours.
The hosts also took every effort to try and ensure you enjoy your stay.
In summary, I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
