Description: Welcome to The Gamekeeper, we offer truly delicious food, real ales & fine wines served in the relaxing bar, in the warm intimate dining room or in the pretty fenced garden - weather permitting. There is also a large brick & timbered hall which is ideal for private functions, meetings & very special occasions. On Sundays we have a carvery in this hall but this can also be booked for your party. Located on East Anglia's largest village green, our 17th Century Grade II listed pub overlooks the pastures & ponds of Old Buckenham. We are situated 14 miles from Norwich and 9 miles from Diss.

Not the most extensive menu in the world, but great quality food served in friendly unpretentious surroundings. I've eaten here several times now and have never been disappointed.

Despite living within half a mile of The Gamekeeper this was the first time for a few years that we had eaten there. It was the first time for us since the current ownership. They also own the Inn on the Green in New Buckenham - a place that had left me pretty underwhelmed, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I shouldn't have worried. The service was prompt but unobtrusive and the food was great. Between 5 of us we sampled a fair spread of the menu for all 3 courses and no one was disappointed. Definitely going back soon.

Our first visit to the Gamekeeper, which had been recommended by several friends. A good winter pub with open fires and a busy bar. The Brancaster mussels were as good as I have enjoyed. The main dishes were variable with overcooked roast cod, Ok lamb sausages, but served with pitta bread and homous? A Rioja red was suggested and it was good. Excellent service from friendly staff. We will probably visit again despite appalling signposting in Norfolk when driving cross country.

Spotted this place on the way to Banham Zoo (see my other review) so called in on the way back for lunch. Really glad we stopped as it was absolutely exceptional. Like the zoo, we wil be returning this March. Can't wait we are taking frinds with us this time ! Might need to visit more than once this time.

We had friends round and decided to go for an unplanned meal. There was 5 of us in total. A quick phone call to the pub to confirm they had room and we were on the way.
The bar area is very cosy with a lovely fire.
Menu was quite small but very reasonably priced.
I had beer battered haddock and homemade chips. No exaggeration the fish overlapped the plate on both ends!! It was the best fish I had had in a long time.
Everyone loved their food and the deserts were amazing.
Will definitely go back and would highly recommend.
