The (pool access) room was ok. The bed was like sleeping on a bag of cement. The reception staff are surly and lack English skills. The restaurant staff (at breakfast) are lazy and miserable. The breakfast buffet was more reminiscent of a school dining hall. There were never any napkins or egg cups in the seven days we stayed here. When I asked for an egg cup I got the short reply "finished" - ie she could not be bothered to get me one from the kitchen. The breakfast is teeming with Scandinavians on their annual Haj to Thailand, and most of te food has run out well before it closes at 10am. This is a two star hotel at best.

The room size and bathroom were very generous for a standard room but the walls were paper thin.

Not great experiences staff wise:
Breakfast - Had to wait 10 mins for a table. When a table became free we had to clean and tidy it ourselves.
Reception were very nonchalant. An item had been dropped off for us and I could see it in the background but I got the response 'mai mee' (no have).

The hotel seems to have built extra rooms but not expanded the common areas hence the problem at breakfast and we were unable to get a sunbed everyday.

Kata is very much a family resort with lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights

Location: behind the Club Med, 10min walking distance to the beach.
Superior room with direct access to the swimming pool: big bed, big bathroom, kind of clean BUT thin walls and thus could be problematic if you have noisy neighbors!!!
Breakfast: very basic, not so many choices, not tasty at all!!!

Big issue: the check out
The front desk tried to overcharge us. We needed to argue with the hotel personal during about an hour after they finally accept to bill us only the amount mentioned in our booking voucher.

We booked the hotel tough a package tour, from Denmark. And was very positive about the hotel. But there was allot of construction going on, so there was some noise. If i should say something negative i will mention the breakfast, that on a Thai level, was not so good. Specially then you stay there for to weeks.
And a good tip! Try the restuant on the cliff of kata beach, (near the big tree) it is pricy but the best!
