“In the heart of Kata”

We were unlucky to get the room with view to the opposite building which smelled like kitchen. So all the time we had to keep the balcony door closed. You can get a room with the pool view but this will cost you some money.
The hotel is located perfectly just 2-4 minutes of walking to the Kata beach. In the rush hour the beach was full of tourist. So if you don't like closeness then you better visit Kata Noi beach which is in 15-20 minutes of walking to the south along the road.
The service and amenities were fine I didn't feel lack of cleaning or smth like this.
You won't find lots of cultural places or other sightseeings around the hotel, just cafes\restaurants and shops.

We've been travelling for almost 8 months now and are on our way back to Europe. We wondered where to go for our last pleasure of warm seas before we reached the Med. About 6 years ago we'd stayed at this hotel in Kata. We remembered the high standard of both rooms and staff service, plus the good snorkelling we'd had, so we decided to return. We wish we hadn't. This is the first poor review we've given, but the rooms are tired, none of the restaurant staff smiled, and only a few of the other staff did. But the worst thing was the level of the unwanted noise. The hotel could now pass for a Club 18-30 for young Russians, who would be making merry on their balconies until early morning - then sleep on all the available pool beds during the day. But the worst culprit of noise was a tuk-tuk bar, owned by the hotel, which plays loud music until the early hours. To be fair, when we said to the reception staff that we thought the hotel was now meant for party-goers, and we found it very noisy at night, they did change our room. Then the problem of music was less, but the problem of loud talking, with voices carrying over the pool, was worse. By this time we'd found out they now had another, sister hotel, in Kata, and we asked if we could be transferred there. As we had booked for two weeks, we were VERY glad they let us move at the same rate. Overall,if you're young and want to do lots of partying, then this is the hotel for you. If that's not your scene,go elsewhere.

Room Tip: The beach isn't what it used to be either! Kata beach is still a lovely bay with great, soft sand...

We stayed here for a number of nighta the end of our trip the hotel we were in we didn't book for long enough. We found the sugar palm hotel to be a little run down for the money paid with e rooms being very basic. A little disappointing for the money paid.

We had some friends stay at the Sugar Palm hillside just up the rode which was of a much better quality, possibly making our review of this hotel a little harsh.

The hotel however was set in the centre of Kata beach town which was convenient to everything and made life getting around very easy. The pool area was also quite pleasant but a little on the small side making it hard to secure a deck chair to relax in.

location fantastic, rooms nice, the rest i have to say about this hotel is not good.
Which is disapointing as we where looking forward to staying here. For a hotel that is only 7 years young it seems much older!
We actually moved to the hotel next door as we were so unhappy.
The staff are not at all happy, not greeting, not smiling.
Which is unusal in thailand if you give a smile you normally get one in return.
The pool area is very dirty and in need of a facelift,it actually went very green while we were there, the stench of chlorine is very strong but oviously not working!(we had a pool access room)
Room service and around the pool dishes arnt cleared away for over 24 hrs!
More like a backpackers than a luxury resort! Far better choices out there!

we stayed from 24-31 august 2012..... the bedroom is spacious, the bathroom has shower and bathtub...free minibar (2 bottle mineral water, 1 can coke, 1 can beer and 1 box tipco) every day
breakfast is good......but it's non hallal food, so for muslim visitor please beware. but they charged breakfast for kids above 3years for 175bath.... but is not worthed..my daughter can not eat the breakfast because it's too spicy for her. but thanks God, there's banana pancake or satay in front of hotel and my daughter love banana pancake and sausage satay. she ate it almost everyday :D
the beach just across the street... only 2-3 minute walking...near 7/11, money changer etc...
overall we enjoyed the hotel so much.

I had gone to phuket from 10th July to 12th July 2012. I stayed in Sugar Palms for 3 nights. As soon as we rchd the hotel we were greeted with a wonderful welcome drink...The receptionist was very sweet and gave us an upgrade..The rooms were very good with all the amenities and the best was the free bar refill everyday...They didnt charge you for the colddrink or beer or juice that were stored in the bar and refilled it everyday for free...The tours desk in the hotel is also very helpful through which we had booked our Phi Phi island tour which was fantastic...The rooms had a balcony with a swimming pool view..The pool is also very well maintained. The best part about the hotel is the pool as it is indoor.it kind of makes you feel connected with everybody else who is staying in the hotel...The breakfast too was excellent and had a good spread.... The beach is also just 4 mins walk away from the hotel and its a fantastic beach with good crowd.
I had gone for this thailand trip along with my friends.and trust me Sugar palms was by far the best hotel we stayed in during this entire trip of 7 days where we went to phuket, pattaya and bangkok.
If you are travelling to Phuket..look no further than the Sugar palms and I say this with utmost conviction...Trust me you will not be disappointed at all...
Just forgot to mention, that the facilities you get in this hotel for the price they charge, is absolutely a steal and total value for money...

Room Tip: Go for the rooms with direct swimming pool entry
