We were very happy with the Boomerang Village. The grounds are lovely, staff very accommodating, cute little rooms, charming property for the price. I would recommend it in a heart beat!

I know this place is very popular but I strongly feel that it does not deserve its current number 1 rating on this site.

When we arrived our "welcome" was less than welcoming. We were offered our welcome drink only after we had completed all of the necessary paperwork and admin required - of which there seemed to be alot (especially for a one night stay, but more of that later) which seemed quite churlish.

We tried to book for 7 nights but due to its popularity we were only able to book for 2 nights (or so we thought). Essentially, there was a misunderstanding (Paolo's first language is not English) so we actually could only stay for one night instead of two which meant that our first day in Phuket was spent trying to find accomodation for the rest of our stay. As a consequence I did not get the opportunity to go in the pool, which looked amazing by the way!

Our room was only ok, the view from the veranda was nice but the bathroom was dated and the "Tip Box" placed on the dresser in front of the mirror I thought was downright cheeky!

Breakfast was pretty tasty and served in a good spot next to the pool. My next bugbear is about the hotel's "Taxi" service. Essentially they have their own car and they will ferry you about for inflated prices. For example we drove about 250 metres down the road to our new hotel (The Beach Boutique, which was excellent - I have written a review of that hotel on this site) and were charged the equivalent of £7 which is the same price as they charged us the previous night to get into the centre of town - I guess as we had already checked out they merely wanted to squeeze every last penny out of us.

In summary, I felt that as we were only able to stay one night we were treated as 'second class' guests as assumed that we would not be returning. They'd be right about that - we won't be going back to Phuket, and if any of our friends were thinking of going to Phuket we wouldn't recommend this hotel - we found that the Beach Boutique down the road was so much better.

Dear Guest, (nickname LondonKirsty)

Thank you for your feedback; we appreciate all feedback from our guests.
We are a small resort, we read all feedback as it allows us to continually improve our service.

We must apologize for the less than satisfactory experience while staying with us.

About your suggestion : we removed the box (Tip Box) in the rooms, although it was not absolutely mandatory tipping the staff. The staff has been trained to take the tips only if it were in the tip box.

Welcome drink: was prepared at the restaurant and then brought to the reception, (perhaps that is why sometimes arrived at the reception with a few minutes late), now be prepared directly from the front desk.

Taxi service : currently we have 17 rooms, we have 2 cars (Toyota and Proton) not our own private cars, rates are normal taxi rate as tuk tuk service.

'second class' : Sorry but this is not true, We don’t have customers of first or second class, our treatment is same for all customers either for a day stay or a month and the procedure for check-in is same for all customers.

Yours faithfully, Boomerang Team

All the positive reviews and comments here are absolutely spot-on. Boomerang Village Cottages is a very tasteful and relaxing place to stay - outstanding value and very well managed. We stayed for 8 nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The bungalows are spacious, comfortable, well equiped and the terraced layout provides a good degree of privacy/seclusion and great views over the tropical garden to the sea beyond. Other reviewers observations about distance from Kata town/beach are valid, but don't let that put you of - the upside is the tranquility and views. It is possible to walk to local restaurants and the beach, but given the heat and humidity you'll find it easier to use the free beach transfer during the day or taxi in the evening. They're readily available everywhere and prices are fairly cheap, particularly if you're prepared to haggle with the tuk tuk driver. The bus service to Phuket Town passes along the main road a short walk from Boomerang and offers a fun trip in a colourful, open sided vehicle at insanely low prices - hail it just like a taxi. The restaurant on site is excellent and prices comparable to similar places in town. 'International cuisine' is available but the thai food is exceptional so why bother? Food, beer, cocktails and fruit juice prices are good, but if good wine is your tipple of choice you'll need deep pockets - it's very expensive anywhere in Phuket.
If you're thinking of booking Boomerang Village Cottages, DO IT, you won't regret it.

This was our first hotel in Thailand and we could have stayed longer. We stayed in the detached villa next to the pool which was one large room and a bathroom. We also had our own little garden area. It was great having the pool so conveniently located to the room. Unfortunately my friend and I had to settle for sharing a bed as no single bed rooms were available but this wasn't a problem as the king size bed was huge. The room had all the essentials, nice bathroom with a good hot water shower, fridge and aircon and the linen and room were spotless. The room rate included a very extensive buffet breakfast. The staff were all very helpful. The hotel is a good half hour walk to the beach and in the heat we mostly took advantage of the free transfers provided by the hotel (on request) or paid 100 baht for a taxi if the hotel manager was not available to do a transfer. Kata beach is okay but nothing special (spoiled by Perth beaches). It was the usual deal - 100baht each to hire two sun lounges and an umbrella. The market shopping was okay and we caught taxis to Pattong Beach and Karon Beach. I preferred Kata beach but would be unlikely to choose Phuket area for a holiday again as there are more attractive places in Thailand (we loved Hua Hin). The hotel was great - the driveway is very steep so you'd need to be pretty fit but most people come and go via taxi or transfer and hire motorbikes. Out of all of the places we went in Thailand this is probably the only place I'd consider hiring a motorbike. The traffic and roads are pretty good. Boomerang Village was a great place to stay - and exceptional value. If I recall correctly, our room rate was 1500 baht per night. You can book massages in your room - which I can recommend - for about 300 baht. And happy hour is between 4 and 5 every day - two drinks for the price of one. We had spring rolls with our drinks a few times which were delicious, but didn't eat at the restaurant in the evening. Their menu was extensive. Our routine was beach/shop in the morning after breakfast, massage about 2 or 3 pm, pina coladas poolside and a swim until happy hour finished at 5, then showers and head off by taxi to Pattong or Karon or Kata for dinner. Didn't discover the south end of Kata beach until the last day but that is probably the best area to beach and eat in Kata. Had great Thai food in the north end of the Kata township (walking distance from Boomerang Village) at a terraced restaurant - sorry can't recall the name. We stayed 3 nights and were collected very early on Day 4 for the transfer to Elephant Hills at Khao Sok National Park.

We found it! This four day stay was absolutely breathtaking. The picturesque setting in the hillside with its exotic gardens just whet the appetite for what we were about to experience as we stepped into our charming little cottage full of Thai charm. But that wasn't all, the magnificent pool area landscaped to perfection for our physical and visual comfort. Beside it down some stairs was the lovely Cafe del Sol with its tempting menus and views. We could go on.. Paolo was a wonderful host and his staff were first rate. We look forward to coming back to this unique and exotic place.

It's clear, if i can't reserve a room in boomerang, i don't go to Phuket. This resort is fantastic with the price and location. We wanted no noise, privacy yet to see greenery with good view, we had it all at the resort.

One of the receptionist's efficiency was below our expectations though (asked for flatter pillow and it didn't come until we asked another staff 2 days later, and this receptionist transferred my call without listening fully what we wanted), otherwise everything is still great and i will definitely still return for this resort!
