Oh, we loved our holiday at Boomerang Village. From the moment we arrived we knew we'd made the right choice. We booked online direct with the hotel & paid 31,750 baht for a standard room for 13 nights bed & breakfast. We requested 2 quiet rooms close together. We paid a deposit of 6,350 baht on booking & the balance on arrival. All correspondence with the hotel was easy & quickly responded too. We didn't have any problems with language with reception or kitchen staff. We also booked the airport transfer at 1,200 baht for mini van for the four of us each way. We were met in arrivals & he was good & safe driver.
We were greeted by reception & the manager & given a cold drink & towel. Naing the receptionist quickly checked us in & showed us around. We arrived before the check in time but we only had to wait a short while & the rooms were ready. We were greeted with a room full of Orchids. The rooms are very rustic & thai which we really liked. We had rooms number 103 & 104 which are next to each other. They are all quite private with a terrace. The fridge stayed on when you were out, there was a safe, hair dryer, plenty of tea ,coffee & creamers. The boiler/kettle was filled everyday with fresh water & 2 bottles of complimentary water were put in the fridge. The air con worked well & was quiet. The tv didn't have many choices but you could borrow a dvd from reception if you wanted. It was very peaceful at night, you can hear the frogs but they soon go to sleep. We slept really well & felt safe. The only access to the resort is up the hill past security.
We didn't have any problems with mosquitos, the hotel provide anti mozzie coils which we burn't at night while we were out, we kept the doors shut & used plenty of spray, wore long trousers & long sleeve tops.
The staff are all delightful, especially the cleaning ladies, reception & restaurant. Every member of the BVR team were polite & greeted us with a good morning & a smile.
Breakfast was fine, plenty to choose from & eggs cooked to order. The coffee was good. We didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening as there are so many choices in Kata. We did have a drink by the pool some days, they have a happy hour from 4 oclock.
The pool area is so beautiful, I couldn't stop looking at it. The jungle view behind the hotel just makes you feel you are in the middle of paradise. There are around 14 sunbeds all in good condition, never all taken the whole time we were there. The gardens are immaculate, full of colour, butterflies & birds.
There is a computer room with an ipad, printer & computer. A small living room area in the shade with books & magazines.
The hotel offers a free shuttle down to Kata beach & back, you just need to book it. They have their own area on the beach where you can rent a sun bed for 100 for the day. The beach bar has really cold beer & good food. We never actually used the shuttle as we walked. It's around 40 minutes to the beach but much less to bars & restaurants.
The walk down to kata is obviously via the hill, which is pretty steep but only a short walk. It's hard work because of the heat but manageable. I wondered if it might be dark walking back a night but it's not, it's well lit up. We found a driver along the street down to Patak road. He's on the left side of the last stretch before you get to the corner of Patak rd.
To get to Kata from Boomerang you either turn right at the corner into Patak road, walk up to the traffic lights & cross over into Thai Na road. Patak road is really busy & you need to keep your eyes open for bikes whizzing up through on the wrong side of the road. Thai Na road, on the left is mostly restaurants, 7 11's, massage & shops. Along the right hand side, top end is mostly bars which didn't appeal to us. At the bottom end is more restaurants. There's a money exchange at the bottom corner going into Kata road. The resuarants we liked in this road were Kwong sea food &The thai Kitchen.
If you turn left at the corner into Patak rd & cross over take the first road on the right & that brings you into a more central part of Kata coming out into Kata road. Our favourite restaurant here was Deepavali Indian, Its tucked in on the left with The Lounge. They also have other things on the menu but the Indian was delicious.
The best part of this holiday was Boomerang Village. It more than lived up to our expectations. If we come back to Kata we'd definitely stay here again. Thank you all at BVR.
