“We Loved It!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 12, 2014

Oh, we loved our holiday at Boomerang Village. From the moment we arrived we knew we'd made the right choice. We booked online direct with the hotel & paid 31,750 baht for a standard room for 13 nights bed & breakfast. We requested 2 quiet rooms close together. We paid a deposit of 6,350 baht on booking & the balance on arrival. All correspondence with the hotel was easy & quickly responded too. We didn't have any problems with language with reception or kitchen staff. We also booked the airport transfer at 1,200 baht for mini van for the four of us each way. We were met in arrivals & he was good & safe driver.
We were greeted by reception & the manager & given a cold drink & towel. Naing the receptionist quickly checked us in & showed us around. We arrived before the check in time but we only had to wait a short while & the rooms were ready. We were greeted with a room full of Orchids. The rooms are very rustic & thai which we really liked. We had rooms number 103 & 104 which are next to each other. They are all quite private with a terrace. The fridge stayed on when you were out, there was a safe, hair dryer, plenty of tea ,coffee & creamers. The boiler/kettle was filled everyday with fresh water & 2 bottles of complimentary water were put in the fridge. The air con worked well & was quiet. The tv didn't have many choices but you could borrow a dvd from reception if you wanted. It was very peaceful at night, you can hear the frogs but they soon go to sleep. We slept really well & felt safe. The only access to the resort is up the hill past security.
We didn't have any problems with mosquitos, the hotel provide anti mozzie coils which we burn't at night while we were out, we kept the doors shut & used plenty of spray, wore long trousers & long sleeve tops.
The staff are all delightful, especially the cleaning ladies, reception & restaurant. Every member of the BVR team were polite & greeted us with a good morning & a smile.

Breakfast was fine, plenty to choose from & eggs cooked to order. The coffee was good. We didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening as there are so many choices in Kata. We did have a drink by the pool some days, they have a happy hour from 4 oclock.

The pool area is so beautiful, I couldn't stop looking at it. The jungle view behind the hotel just makes you feel you are in the middle of paradise. There are around 14 sunbeds all in good condition, never all taken the whole time we were there. The gardens are immaculate, full of colour, butterflies & birds.
There is a computer room with an ipad, printer & computer. A small living room area in the shade with books & magazines.
The hotel offers a free shuttle down to Kata beach & back, you just need to book it. They have their own area on the beach where you can rent a sun bed for 100 for the day. The beach bar has really cold beer & good food. We never actually used the shuttle as we walked. It's around 40 minutes to the beach but much less to bars & restaurants.
The walk down to kata is obviously via the hill, which is pretty steep but only a short walk. It's hard work because of the heat but manageable. I wondered if it might be dark walking back a night but it's not, it's well lit up. We found a driver along the street down to Patak road. He's on the left side of the last stretch before you get to the corner of Patak rd.

To get to Kata from Boomerang you either turn right at the corner into Patak road, walk up to the traffic lights & cross over into Thai Na road. Patak road is really busy & you need to keep your eyes open for bikes whizzing up through on the wrong side of the road. Thai Na road, on the left is mostly restaurants, 7 11's, massage & shops. Along the right hand side, top end is mostly bars which didn't appeal to us. At the bottom end is more restaurants. There's a money exchange at the bottom corner going into Kata road. The resuarants we liked in this road were Kwong sea food &The thai Kitchen.
If you turn left at the corner into Patak rd & cross over take the first road on the right & that brings you into a more central part of Kata coming out into Kata road. Our favourite restaurant here was Deepavali Indian, Its tucked in on the left with The Lounge. They also have other things on the menu but the Indian was delicious.
The best part of this holiday was Boomerang Village. It more than lived up to our expectations. If we come back to Kata we'd definitely stay here again. Thank you all at BVR.

Room Tip: Rooms 103 & 104 are next to each. Quiet & peaceful.

Located on a hill overlooking Kata, this hotel has many pluses, including a lovely warm pool that is deserted most of the day, so you will have it all to yourself most of the time. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the included breakfast is nice and the other meals are tasty and well priced.
The bungalows are located up the hill. No doubt, those higher up the hill will have a better view, but we, as seniors, chose to stay on the main level near the pool and reception area. The hotel advertises a view of the ocean, but it is far away and you are treated to only a glimpse of water if you crane your neck in the right direction. The hotel does provide free rides to the beach in the morning and will pick you up in the afternoon. Note that this is not a hotel for those with mobility issues. Lots of steps to climb within the resort, and the walk down the hill to town is quite steep.
The hotel is located off the main drag, with a few turns here and there and provided a bit of a challenge for our driver in finding it.

Excellent resort, staff so friendly and cannot do enough for you, especially on reception. We stayed in both a superior and deluxe room and both were excellent and lovely and clean. Courtesy car to and from Kata is an added bonus. This resort is highly recommended

We have just had a lovely 2 week stay at BVR as part of a 40th wedding anniversary celebration. It is such a relaxing resort with great gardens, fountains and decorations.
The rooms are of a good size and equipped with tea & coffee making facilities, plenty of storage and a good size bathroom & shower.

Breakfast's have all the usual choices with hot or cold food available and eggs cooked to your liking.

The staff are all really nice & friendly, a big thank you to Naing in reception for looking after us so well, also Mr James Bond & Mr Paulo for their great transporting to & from the beach, airport etc. not forgetting the lovely room attendants & restaurant staff.

Although some reviewers have stated some tuk tuk drivers would not take them up the hill to the resort, we never had a problem & did use quite a few during our stay.

Overall we had a great time & would return if staying in Kata again.

We recommend the Boomerang Village Resort. We chose this hotel based on other reviews and are thrilled with our decision. Hotel is up on a hill overlooking Kata beach. It is truly an oasis. Beautiful pool, spacious, comfortable room with balcony and sea view. The jungle is right behind the hotel so you can hear the sounds of the jungle. Breakfast is delicious and staff is helpful. Kata beach is absolutely beautiful. We highly recommend if you visit Phuket, stay here!!!

We stayed here September 2012, kept meaning to write a review but time just ran away with me. We stayed here for 12 glorious nights, we were picked up by their driver and taken through the busy towns to this tranquil oasis of calm and peace. I was recovering from treatment from cancer so the two of us wanted somewhere peaceful but within easy distance of the rest of the island. We were greeted by warm smiling staff with a cold drink and a cold towel. We were checked in in no time and shown to our cottage, our bags were already up in the cottage and I cannot fault it. It was clean, cool, had space for everything we had brought with us, there were complementary bottles of ice cold water every day, a fully stocked mini bar and snack tray. The rooms were cleaned daily and were always spotless.

In the morning we went down to breakfast where there was a large range of hot food, fruit, tea's and coffee, they even have a chap who cooks your eggs any way you like them! the staff were always polite and happy to pass the time and chat. The restaurant is stunning, the food was lovely, lots of Thai and Italian food all very nicely prepared and presented, if you fancy lobster you have to order it the day before so it can be caught for you and cooked how you like it.

The reception staff were always happy to help, they would telephone local companies and book excursions for us and most of the time they got us a discount, they were always happy to help no matter what your query or request.

There is a driver and car on hand to take you down to the beach where they have beach loungers set up for the sole use of Boomerang residents, they will also pick you up at a pre arranged time and take you back to the resort.

There is a hill, its quite a hill, the resort is half way up it, i managed to walk it almost daily and with a sprained ankle. I've seen reviews that some drivers won't go up it but we were out on excursions most days and no one refused to drop us at the door.

During the first week my boyfriend proposed to me at Boomerang, I of course said yes, I still remember the sounds of the water and insects of the evening chirruping in the background, he had arranged with Nai (the lovely Burmese man who normally mans the reception in the evening and overnight) to have a bottle of champagne in an ice bucket and two glasses put outside our cottage....so sure was he I would say yes.

I would not hesitate to recommend Boomerang to anyone and everyone visiting Phuket. The staff there appreciate visitors making the effort to learn a few basic manners, like the Thai for thank you and hello. The resort is stunningly located with some gorgeous views, there are tables both inside and beside the pool to eat at in the evening, the rooms are clean, well equipped and well appointed, the staff are friendly and ever happy to help, and its not expensive....it's a stunning little oasis of calm and I hope to retun one day.

Thank you everyone at Boomerang.

I stayed at the hotel in November 2013. A girlfriend accompanied me. It was my second trip to Phuket Island. It was my first stay at this hotel. I wanted a quiet location with relatively few tourists. Kata and especially the hotel met these criteria. The rooms are great and the grounds are beautiful. It is isolated from the town on a hillside. A couple of van drivers refused to drive up the steep driveway to the hotel. But the driveway is a short walk. We found that the food quality in the restaurant was very good. The staff was polite and helpful. I think that the hotel is excellent value for the cost. I will definitely stay there again upon return to Phuket.
