A fantastic resort and unbelievable experience for the family holiday maker. The resort was enormous with the most beautiful beachfront view and three swimming pools (not that you need it, with such a crystal clear beach right in front of you). The staff was friendly and the best part was the cheap massages while bathing in the sun. The hotel helped organise a trip to Phi Phi Island and that was fantastic. I've never seen such a beautiful island.

An excellent resort and a great experience!

I had a thoroughly enjoyable time there, the accommodation was lovely, the service was unprecedented and the entire location of the hotel on the pure white sands of the unspoilt kata noi beach was simply amazing. If you want to go to Phuket, you MUST visit the Katathani hotel. It's tucked away in a very scenic area, yet close enough to all major attractions. The staff all speak good english and are helpful in a most unobtrusive discreet way. Highly recommend this place - it's certainly one of the jewels of Phuket!

We just return from Phuket and we were stay at Katathani Phuket. It was very great holiday. The location of the hotel is FAB, Kata Noi Beach is seem to be only belong to the Katathani's guest. Sunset was great evey evening. I definately would love to going back there again. Wattana

My husband and I are with the US embassy, posted to Southeast Asia for the past six years. After trying out various scenic spots for our holiday getaways, KataThani has become our vacation home--the ONLY beach resort we now visit. There is no beach to compare in Phuket, and the grand suites are both sumptuous and understated. Is that an oxymoron? Perhaps, but the rooms are beautiful. However, the main reason we keep returning is because they make us feel at home. Ing, the daughter of the owner, always greets us now personally on our return. And all the staff is ready with a smile and "welcome back." When we leave Asia I will really miss this place!

I stayed at the KataThani in January and February and enjoyed it very much. Excellent service, good food and the best position in Phuket.

We have just returned from a 6 night stay at the Katathani for our honeymoon, and we were both very happy and impressed with what it offered.
We shared a junior suite with a beautiful view of the beach and pools. Make sure you book a room that has an ocean view - there are rooms which don't have ocean views. The room itself was very tasteful and functional, with a lovely bathroom.

There are numerous restaurants on-site; they are about 3-4 times more expensive than outside the complex, but of great quality (if you're happy paying for it). The disappointing thing is only 1 of the restaurants is authentic Thai! (eating Italian in Thailand sounded completely sacriligious to us!). Nonetheless, the food at the Thai restaurant was excellent.

We were extremely impressed with the food on offer in Thai restaurants - for about $10 AUD we would get 3-4 mains and a couple of beers for dinner to share. Most of the restaurants we ate at were better than the majority of better Thai restaurants in Australia. The food in Thailand was certainly one of the highlights of our stay.

The best thai restaurant we found was down the very southern end of the beach of our resort (I think it was called 'The Bungalow')in which we had a magnificent ocean view. This is only a short stroll from the Katathani.Because it was tucked away right down the end of the beach other tourists didn't seem to know about it. But it was definitely one of the best restaurants we ate at (including Bangkok).

From our perspective, the staff were exceptionally helpful (despite other recent reviews). We had a couple of interesting episodes with people outside the resort which required Thai-speaking assistance. Staff at the front desk helped us out without hassle.

Most of the people staying here were European (German, Swiss, French). Most were also 60 years plus (not an issue for us since they were generally quiet and kept to themselves). Unfortunately there were a few obese people who regularly sunbaked topless poolside (despite rules prohibiting this) - not the most tasteful sight!

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Katathani to any form of holidayer - it is an extremely beautiful setting. The beach is very exclusive - when we saw other nearby beaches (Karon and Patong) we realised how lucky we were! The breakfast was absolutely fantastic - everything anyone could wish for, brilliant omelettes, out-of-this-world mangoes. The pools are lovely. You can get a 1-hour massage by the pool for only $10 AUD!

The location of the Katathani is also of great advantage. The town of Kata, compared with Karon and Patong, is a much more relaxed, and more up-market place. There's still enough market stalls to buy cheap knock-off T-shirts etc. in a much friendlier atmosphere. We went to Patong on our 2nd day to visit, and never went back there - sleazy, dirty, busy, cheap and nasty bars. Hassled on every street corner by people selling their fake rolex/gucci/polo gear etc. Whatever you do, don't stay in Patong!!!

The town of Kata is about an 8 minute walk from the Katathani (alternatively take a tuk-tuk for $2-3 AUD -there's a good coffee shop, enough market stalls, a couple of small supermarkets, and some very good, cheap Thai restaurants.

A great place; would definitely go back!

Overall I would recommend the hotel, good rooms, good facilities, large pools and choice of bars and restaurants serving good food. Excellent beach with clear tranquil waters ideal for swimming in January/Feb. Bad points are the lack of shades to go with the sunbeds and you really notice this at 40 degrees. The hotel was large but full and so sunbeds were booked up early in the morning, especially poolside which isn't something you need on holiday, they should increase the numbers so you can lie in. Compared to other resorts there is a distinct lack of pool/beach staff to help, with the emphasis on massages as opposed to serving drinks or providing sunbeds etc
