“Great place, friendly staff, easy lifestyle”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

Beautiful place, just a quick weekend escape from the east coast of Phuket... for locals, Kata Noi is a quiet alternative to the insanity of Patong. The staff were accommodating, the food very nice, the pools (6 of them!) were fun, and of course the beach always beckoned. Relaxing few days, recommend this place!

Spent six days holiday with my husband, this is our second stay since 2010.
The hotel this time was quite many guests than last visit, we first worried it would affect the peace, calm atmosphere last time we had. However, the hotel managed it well, as it provides one from the 3 pool as peace pool only for adults, so we can still enjoy peaceful poolside relaxing and over a leg's distance you see many happy faces, who are families with kids.

We booked a deluxe suite and upgraded to grand suite, the block of grand suites situated at the side of the hotel with side see view and quieter. The block of deluxe suites is in the middle of the hotel and have full sea view and just beside the pool. The room basically not much different for sleep, but the bathroom of grand suite is huge, with king size bathtub and separate exotic shower.

Our mattress was a bit hard, we did not get used to it and not sleep well at the first night, we requested to change it at the reception in the second morning, It was already changed after we finished our breakfast. The staff is very friendly, helpful and efficient. She fully understood me and we slept very well in the rest of our stay.

The choice of breakfast no doubt is adequate. Even the hotel was quite full, but we did not need to wait to be sat. It is very good, as if you need to wait, the whole relaxing atmosphere is spoiled.

The pools are excellent, the 3 pools provide to people with different preference and so every pool is not crowded. I enjoy the peace pool the most, it is just what we need.

Just on the road at the entrance of the hotel, there are 2-3 restaurants, they are quite nice. Highly recommend to go up the hill side, there are 2 restaurants, namely The Sunset, and Bann Chom, offer nice food, drinks with stunning sunset view.

If you are with family and do not want to go out for dinner, the hotel provides buffet dinner with different theme every evening with very reasonable price, from 450B to 750B, beers are 60B and soft drinks are 50B, it makes also the same price to dine out or at the hotel, this is very exceptional service to facilitate guest with kids.

Phuket restores a very busy tourist destination, we went to Patong and found that it is so busy and crowd that we cannot feel any relaxing. Lucky Kata beach area remains quite, relaxing as it should be. To feel what Phuket is, you should stay here.

We will certainly stay in Katathani Resort again.

Having visited Phuket many times over the years where we usually stayed in the Patong area, this year on the recommendation of a friend we decided to opt for a quieter spot.
The Katathani Resort has everything, plenty of great swimming pools, is right on the beach with a couple of great 'Beach Bars' to enjoy 'Happy Hour' every evening to watch the surf and the setting sun.
The resort has plenty of well priced restaurants, the staff are helpful and extremely friendly.
The hotel provides a daily shuttle into both old Phuket town and Patong at a reasonable price, the only fault is the lateness of the shuttle into Patong, it is too late in the day.
I must also give a 'plug' to a great tailor right opposite the resort. Mr. Topas Collection, I had some great clothes made by him.

Room Tip: It depends on what you want to pay, we were in a deluxe room on the third floor in the 'Bhuri...

Spent a week here and thoroughly enjoyed the experience away from the hustle and bustle of Patong Beach. Lots of good restaurants with an excellent selection of food which were well priced. Found the staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms well maintained daily. Excellent resort for families with many pools and activities. Would definitely recommend this resort for a holiday.

We have been to this resort 3 times and love it every time and will definitely be going back again. The resort stretches across a golden sand beach. If you sit between the pools (6) and beach you can access both in seconds, or sit and sip on a cocktail or have a massage whilst relaxing on the comfortable pillowed recliners. Relaxation plus!!! There is so much room for everyone, plenty of beach and pool umbrellas to provide shade and plenty of grassland to relax on as well and for the children to run around in. There are a few shops on the premises, and there are 6 restaurants. Also, if you go across the road from the resort you can go to 3 more restaurants and a few more shops, walk or take a taxi to nearby towns or go to Patong for shop till you drop exercise. If you don't want to go anywhere, the staff are super friendly, service is impeccable and rooms are very spacious and very well appointed. We booked a junior suite facing directly on the ocean and what a view, and at night such a beautiful atmosphere with all the pretty lights around the resort and on the beach. The resort restaurants have beautiful food, catering for all nationalities and there is often entertainment at night, either in the restaurant or on the grounds. We love this place, it is in a quieter location so you get great night sleeps and plenty to relaxation. We will definitely go there again as soon as we can. Our thanks again to the resort for giving us great holiday time there!!!!

Room Tip: Junior Suites facing the ocean are the best value with direct ocean/beach and grounds view. Ask for...

Massive hotel with more than 500 rooms. Seems reasonable maintained. For Asian standards, service is to be considered rather poor. Staff tends to be too familiair with guests and no towels are available at the pool. For each guest, there is a towel in the room. When asking for a towel at the pool, they bluntly say there are no towels and you have to go to your room to get your towel. When lodging a complaint at the reception, they tell you to come to the reception sothat they can give you a pool towel.
Garden around the pools are well maintained. Most irritating are masseuses of the hotel passing by asking if you want to have a massage (one would exepct this outside the hotels grounds and not within the hotel grounds).
Booked 2 Junior suites but these suites are to be considered as large standard hotel rooms. In the evening, they don't make up your bed or provide fresh towels or drinking water. Definitely a no go for a next time.

Dear Janssen123,

Thank you very much for having taken the time to review your recent stay on TripAdvisor. We are very sorry to read that your stay did not match up to your expectations.

As for the turndown-service please be assured that we will review with our housekeeping team as to for why your room has been not made up and we apologize sincerely for any inconveniences that occured due to this issue.

Please let me also explain our pool towels policy. Every guest has pool towels available in their rooms. They are exchanged on a daily basis or whenever the guest requests for it. At the pools the staff has also towels available, however these are kept and offered only as an exchange for used towels (in case they become to wet and feel not comfortable anymore). We don't issue towels at the pools directly for the reason that we want to avoid outside visitors to use our hotel facilities as they are reserved for hotel guests only.

I was also very surprised to read that you felt annoyed by the ladies who are offering massages on our hotel grounds. As you can see by the majority of our reviewers it is one of the most appreciated services by our pools and I also noted that apparently they have been very successful in their attempts to persuade you, as you used their services almost every day during your stay. Nevertheless we will contact the contracting company and advise to offer their services in the most polite manner in the future.

Once again thank you for your review, we sincerely hope you got well after having fallen sick during your stay and will gladly welcome you back in the future.

With warm regards from Kata Noi Beach,
Assistant Manager

We (family of 3, 2 adults plus 16yr old daughter) spent a fantastic 12 nights here. Room (grand suite in Thani wing) was just perfect. Used gym which was pretty ok for our needs, games room for poole and table tennis, and pools and beach fab. We went in early July 2013 and weather was great - bit of cloud, a little rain (only one day, but some at night - so who cares!!) and came home with fab tans. Eating in hotel is pricey, we had a Monday night Thai buffet which was amazing, including Thai entertainment. 10 out of 10. Other restaurants too pricey compared to the excellent food served at the local restaurants.

Don't get taxi or tuktuk to next resort (Kata Beach). The uphill walk seems un-do-able but is actually ok - just take a little time, took us max of 15 mins (and I'm a 51 yr oldie).

Main DON'T do is at airport from Bangkok to Phuket. If u travel with Thai Airways, a "Thai Airways" travel rep will meet you en route to departures to sell u discounted tours in Phuket, as they are "partners" with Thai and give you discounts. PLEASE DON'T USE THEM. The trips we booked with them were questionable at best (Phi Phi Island was a TOTAL waste of time and money - we were SO disappointed), and if you complain they do nothing about it - other than tell you that the problem is you have already had the trip so they can't refund you..... had you not been on the trip they would!.....How does that work then!!!!?

Other than that one gripe, we had an amazing holiday. Food is amazing, people welcoming and wonderful.

Don't take any "posh" clothes - even to 5* resorts, it's all really relaxed (and too hot, really, for your best stuff). Use local laundry service which is really cheap and they do a good job.

Recommend fly with Thai - we couldn't fault them - on way home we were encouraged to spread out into 10 seats to make our journey more comfortable - just 3 of us !!!!

Go for it, enjoy an amazingly relaxed, pleasantly informal, yet 5* holiday. We will most definitely return. Go for the Katathani resort (we recommend the Thani wing) .... try for a Grand Suite and you won't be disappointed!!

Bye, from 3 travellers ( 16yrs, 51yr and 58yrs) who didn't want to leave.
