We couldn't have chosen a lovelier place for a Phuket holiday. With its glorious, shady, landscaped gardens, fountains, fish ponds, architecture and Thai carvings and sculptures, Sawasdee Village has a wonderful flavour of Thailand. When you walk in off the street you enter another world. Its a small, single storey resort with just a small number of guests. Rooms are smallish but more than adequate. Each room has its own ensuite and shady outside sitting area, a computer with internet connection also doubles as the TV set, and there is a well stocked bar fridge with beer at the same price as in the stores. Rooms are fitted out in natural timber with beautiful mosquito nets over the beds. Two rooms can be booked side by side with a single entry path for friends and/or family, and the sitting area is well screened by lush trees. The freefrom pool with shady trees and beautiful fountains is a delight, and cocktails at the swim up bar are reasonably priced. The included buffet breakfast is terrific.

There is a 6-7 minute walk to the beach, largely because of a huge ugly wall that Club Med has put up that blocks direct access, but the walk takes you past shops, stalls and restaurants so you can do your planning for later. The beach is perfect, with some nice surf.

My family consisted of my wife and myself, 15 year old daughter and 12 year old son. Everybody loved it. We will be back.

This place has all of the makings of what could be a GREAT hotel. I arrived and with one other guest checking in at the same time it took them over 20 mins to get me a key. Ok The vibe of the place is off the chain. The pool is super awesome, very romantic. But they close the pool at 7pm, The Hard Rock in Vegas only wishes its pool was this hip, should be open late night, its the focal point of the whole hotel. Rooms have hip vibe but are NYC/France super small, but come with a computer and super slow internet access. The bath room vibe was cool, but the shower was full of mildew and bad rotting wood. DONT BE FOOLED BY THE LOCATION.....This is NOT NEAR THE BEACH. Its a 10 minute walk around the Club Med compound. Look they try very hard here in an over stimulated vacation market. Breakfast was included and the best part of my stay. I MIGHT go back if they assured me that they had improved. Hip you can find anywhere, I would have preferred better beach access a clean shower, and WIFI that I could actually get a signal in my room with.

We are sorry to learn from your note that you were not an enjoyable during your stay at our resort and thank you very much to bring all this matter to our notice so we can improve our service to ensure that your next stay with us will meet with your satisfactory.

We are pleased also to bring your kind attention that we are having room refurbishment at the resort and expecting to complete with new look refreshment and more comfortable after the end of October this year. Slowly of WIFI access is also in our serious attention as we want to have it to be one of our highlight services for all in house guests can enjoy cyber world without any interruption so we will take action to solve it at once. According to your suggestion of service time at the pool, we will take into our consideration but we have to consider based on the client’s safety as we do not have pool attendant after 07.00 pm as well as we have to avoid the disturbance from noise to all rooms near the pool if we extend service time in the evening however we will keep this good suggestion in our special attention.

Once again ,please kindly accept our apologies for the inconvenience which has been caused, however, all of us at Sawasdee Village , Phuket is looking forward to welcoming you back once again and kindly be assured that any services you may need those service we try to provide for the utmost of your satisfaction.

The hotel is approx 40 -50 minutes from Phuket airport (500 Baht in a metered taxi). I loved my stay at the hotel, as I walked in I was welcomed with the scent of burning sandalwood, a refreshing drink at reception and a cool cloth to freshen up. It’s a delightful oasis near to the action of Kata Beach. Actually the hotel is in an ideal location, within walking distance of many shops, restaurants and more importantly the Beach. The hotel has a lovely restaurant which cooks up a a great breakfast – I stuck to the Thai food for the whole week but they also offer more traditional western options if that’s your preference.

All the staff in the hotel are very helpful and cannot do enough for you. The rooms are spacious, well equipped, cool, clean and comfortable. My room had a lovely seating area outside with water feature, carp, candle, cushions and burner to repel mosquitoes and insects. Even though there are many water features I was not troubles by any mosquitoes even if other readers were.

The pool area is very relaxing, not huge but fine for a cool off whilst soaking in the rays. There’s a pool bar where you can get refreshments and snacks. The staff gave me a tour of the new villas, they are truly exceptional and I would recommend that you opt for one of these if you can. I chose the hotel as it was advertised to be in a traditional Thai style, I was not disappointed. The buildings, water features, plants, candles, flowers were all a pleasure to be around.

If you prefer to stay in a boutique hotel rather than a hotel complex then this is the place for you. I would definitely stay again if I ever return to Phuket.

Sawasdee Village, Baray Villa, Phuket. We arrived in Phuket slightly late in the evening on 13th June 2009. Upon arriving at the airport, the hotel’s driver already there waiting with my name on it. The driver speaks good English. He explained a bit here and there about Phuket itself. Journey from airport to hotel took us about 45 mins.
The hotel located at Kata area. Not really a sea or beach front hotel. The area was build up with traditional Thai’s architecture. Sawasdee Village comes with two types of accommodation, rooms and Baray Villa. Baray Villa is more privacy and it comes with Jacuzzi, private pool, and access to main pool. Ambiance of the hotel is full with flowers, green trees, water features and some unique scent around it. We can’t hear any noise from opposite road. On top of that, when we looked up, the sky was always bright. We were greeted with cold towels and drinks upon checked-in.
Staffs at Sawasdee are friendly. They smiles, and ever ready to assist you at any time. They actually showed us one by one how things in the villa operate. Baray Villa builds with two floors. First floor comes with dining area, long couch with lots of pillows, plasma TV, fridge, bathroom and open shower, Jacuzzi, sun deck, and private pool. Floor’s up stairs comes with large bed, sink to soak your foot, plasma TV, big bathtub, two separates bathroom, two separates sink, and wardrobe equipped with safety box. The most magnificent was the glass that allowed us to view the pool and the other villa outside. The villa looked even nicer when the lights were turned on.
Breakfasts were served at their restaurant. Variety food served from bread, rice, omelette, and fruits. For those who prefer to eat outside, there are plenty of restaurant to choose from within walking distance. 7eleven just around the corner, pharmacy, tour agency, massage parlour, and even laundry services. Walking to the nearest beach took us about 10 mins. We passed a lot of restaurants, shops selling souvenir, and money changer. But if you carrying kids along, shuttle bus from hotel to Kata beach are also provided every hour.
Baray Spa located at the corner of the entrance to restaurant. We went for a Baray signature package. There were also promotions going on whereby you may get one free spa treatment for single treatment purchased. Spa filled with full amenities such as cool water pool, sauna, private room and couple room. We definitely felt released and relax.
We were also given a Sawasdee signature’s photo frame with our picture taken upon arriving at the hotel earlier as a souvenir. For those who would like to travel around Phuket city, you may get a taxi just outside the hotel or you may rent a bike. We rented a bike for a day. It’s much easier to travel compare taking taxi.
Overall, staying at Sawasdee Village, Baray Villa was a fantastic stay that beat any 4 stars hotel out there. Personal touch from the GM who dropped by welcome note and goodbye note made it even more special. Recommended for leisure, honeymoon and hectic city escape. Keep up the good spirits! We can’t wait to go back there.

Stayed at the Sawasdee Village for 3 nights. Wish it was more... The Hotel itself looks amazing and feels like you're in a world of your own when you enter the hotel from the street. The ambiance and the decor of the hotel just feels great. There is a fragrance that welcomes you when you enter the place, which is great. The small number of rooms and the natural setting makes the hotel feel very cozy. The rooms are also nicely decorated and feel very cozy.

The staff are absolutely friendly and helpful. They are always ready with a smiling face and a greeting. Would def stay there again and would highly recommend this place to anyone...

Well worth the money!

Cheers.

We stayed at Sawasdee Village after a tour of China, and were looking for something relaxing and peaceful. We weren't disappointed. We knew nothing about Phuket before we started researching - aren't we glad we didn't stay in Patong! Kata is so much nicer - lovely beach and less "in your face".

We chose Sawasdee Village because it looked as though it offered something different from the usual 4-5 star international places. Just read the other reports to see what it offers - it really is magnificent - a true Thai experience. The water features, the smells, the little surprises around every corner - no detail has been overlooked.

The staff were lovely - starting with the security guard who salutes every arrival! Delightful smiling staff - nothing was too much trouble.

Don't worry about the distance from the beach - the free shuttle bus is available every hour, and it really is no distance to walk. The walk is through the main Kata area, so there are shops, restaurants, stalls etc on the way.

The whole area seems to be suffering a reduction in visitor numbers due to the current recession - very sad - so I'm encouraging everyone to go!

I'm also encouraging everyone to go for a meal at the little place 2 doors down from the Sawasdee - called "Fried Rice" it is a little uninspiring to look at, but EXCELLENT food and service - very cheap.

Food at the Sawasdee Village was also excellent, including a very substantial buffet breakfast.

Finally, the availability of free internet in each room was an unexpected bonus and very welcome.

We took the opportunity to upgrade to a private bungalow which were recently completed. This was the best decision we ever made while travelling. The rooms were great, our own butler and a very private swimming pool that comes into your room!!!
